Virginia Cavaliers Survive Scare, Advance in NCAA Tournament

Despite being heavy favorites, the game stayed close throughout, with Virginia finally pulling ahead late to advance. Virginia trailed 38-43 at halftime after a back-and-forth first half. Guard Jakari White stepped up big time, scoring a season-high 26 points on solid shooting, which helped keep the minute. The second half started strong for the Cavaliers, tying the score at 45, with just over 16 minutes left. Their overall feel-go percentage hit 52%, but sloppy play kept the lead from growing too much. Turnovers hurt Virginia the most, with 14 compared to Wright State 7, nearly costing them the game. Still, they recovered in the final minutes to secure the victory. Now in the second round, the Cavaliers await the winner between Tennessee and Miami of Ohio this weekend. Coming up, what looks like another, nail-biter.
