Mayor Bobby Dyer was sworn in on November 20, 2018, and is the first Veteran to be directly elected as mayor in Virginia Beach history. Mayor Dyer has lead the city of Virginia Beach during very challenging times which include a mass shooting on May 31st 2019. DeWayne Craddock, a disgruntled city employee fatally shot 12 people and wounded four others at a municipal building. The Mayor also lead through potential economic ruin caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this discussion the Mayor (Bobby D as he likes to be called) is quite candid regarding his approach to leadership including the "the alarm clock test" and other pillars of his leadership style.
