Villanova Wildcats' Senior Night Victory

0:00On March 7, Villanova Wildcats wrapped up the home careers of their three seniors with a strong win over Xavier Musketeers on Saturday. The Wildcats overcame an early Ford and nothing deficit and pulled away for a solid victory thanks to key scoring runs and stand out play from there. Big men. Xavier jumped ahead at the start, but Villanova responded with a 23-5 surge, followed by a 15-to-2 push that gave them a 12-point halftime edge. In the second half, the Musketeers narrowed the gap to six points a few times, but timely three-pointers from Tyler Perkins sparked an 11-2. Nothing run, stretching the lead to 17 with eight minutes left. The seniors stole the show in their final home game. Duke Brennan, the six-flat-ten center, dropped 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, tying the school's all-time double-double record at 14. Devon Aski returned to the starting lineup and nearly noshed a triple-double with 18 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists, including five, of 11 from beyond the arc.

Xavier missed their top-scorer, Trey Carroll, due to a hip injury, though Devon Milishevich still managed 21 points on 15 shots. The Wildcats now headed to the Big East tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at 9.30 pm, waiting on the winner of the six versus 11 match-up, to find out their next opponent.
