Just weeks ago though, they were connected to Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson as a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Earlier this year, at the Scouting Combine, NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah praised Simpson's throwing session and named the Vikings as a good landing spot for him. Simpson ranks 30 second overall on draft boards and carries a second round projection, yet teams desperate for a long-term starter often reach, higher for quarterbacks like him. A Simpson selection would cut short the JJ McCarthy experiment in Minnesota after just one season, giving them a fresh young arm to groom behind. Murray.
