Local headlines, in two minutes or less, you're tuned in to Kansas News today. The Minnesota Vikings have turned their quarterback room into a gathering of former top draft picks. They've signed Kyler Murray, the number one overall selection from 2019, to a one-year deal right after his release from Arizona. They're also bringing back Carson Wentz on a deal for 2026. That gives them three signal callers, all picked in the top 10, joining JJ McCarthy, whom they traded up for at number 10 last year. McCarthy sat out his rookie season with a knee injury, but when six wins and four losses over 10 starts in 2025 with 11 touchdowns and 14 turnovers, Murray offers dual threat skills with over 120 touchdown passes and more than 3,000 rushing yards in Arizona, despite a sub-500 winning percentage. The number two pick back in 2016 has bounced around as a reliable backup who can steal games when needed. Coach Kevin O'Connell knows all about juggling quarterbacks, having started eight different

ones since taking over in 2022. The Vikings made the playoffs twice in that span, both times behind a guy who played all 17 games. Murray figures to get first crack at the starting job next season, but injuries have dogged him before, just like the others. Whoever sticks could finally bring this ability Minnesota craze to push deeper into the postseason.
