Kunig and David Grossman launched VideoGen in 2D23 while still in college, pooling $30,000 from their internship savings. The two met as middle schoolers at a tennis academy where doubles tournaments turned into a friendship built on a shared obsession with coding, artificial intelligence, and online video. Kunig studied computer science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and interned at Amazon Web Services in fact set before leaving college
to build VideoGen full-time. Grossman interned at Palantir and graduated from Brown University with degrees in computer science and applied mathematics while VideoGen passed 1 million users. In summer 2024, the company joined Y Combinator summer 2024 batch with mentorship from Gary Tan.
