WHAT HAPPENS when machines become smarter than us?
Dr. Stuart Armstrong, a Research Fellow at the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) at Oxford University, discusses his book Smarter Than Us: The Rise of Machine Intelligence. He talks about the challenges of programming a so-called "friendly AI", the difficulty in defining a "good" future as a target for said AI, and the reason that the FHI considers an artificial superintelligence a potential threat to the survival of the human race.
