Veterans Clinic Shooting: Suspect Dead, No Other Injuries

0:00From Durham, this is your March 17th update. A shooting took place Tuesday at a veteran's affairs clinic in Jasper, Georgia. Around 1.30 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire. Officers confronted the gunman outside the building and shot him dead. No one else was injured. Police Chief Brian Dawkins said they have no idea what sparked the incident. The suspect was the only victim. Emergency vehicles and officers in tactical gear quickly swarmed the area near a local strip mall. The clinic serves veterans with primary care, lab work, telehealth and mental health services. It opened in the summer of 2020 to bring care closer to home in the rural area. Authorities have not released more details on the gunman or motive. Calls to the clinic routed to recordings with no live answers that afternoon.
