Vapor Ministries' New Thrift Store: A Game Changer

Vapor Ministries has broken ground on its first custom built thrift store in Trustville, right on Mary Taylor Road next to Freddie's Frozen Custard. This 15,000 square foot spot marks a big step for the nonprofit, which plans to open in fall 2026. It's their fifth location overall, shifting from least spaces to a design tailor just for them. The organization kicked off with its original store in Greystone back in 2009. Since then, they've grown steadily, adding spots invested by a hills, west over, and most recently, Pell City. Each store offers clothes, furniture, books, toys, and more, all at bargain prices. Shoppers finds do more than fill closets. Every sale supports aid in Haiti, Kenya, and Togo. Funds provide clean water with over 105 million cups served yearly, millions of meals, health care, and even a new outreach center.

1:01Opening in Togo this fall, they also recycle tons of goods to keep waste out of landfills. This build boosts efficiency with smart layouts for sorting donations and trucking extras to other stores. A nearby tornado recently flipped a trailer and hit neighbors, but delay materials kept the site safe, avoiding any setbacks. Construction is off to an early start, with the slab poured and a Bible sealed in the foundation during prayers.
