Vanderbilt Women's Basketball Sweeps SEC Awards

0:00On March 4th, Vanderbilt Women's Basketball just swept the top three awards in the southeastern conference. Head coach Shay Rauf earned Coach of the Year honors. Guard Michaela Blake's took home player of the year. And freshman Aubrey Galvin claimed freshman of the year. It's a huge validation for their standout regular season. These honors highlight the team's breakout performance. Blake's has dominated with more than 30 points of game in the tough SEC schedule. These only the second Commodore ever to win, player of the year. Galvin has run the floor like a veteran, becoming the fourth Vanderbilt freshman to snag that award. Fans in the program are buzzing over this run. Vanderbilt started the year ranked number 24 in the preseason pole, trailing six other conference teams. Expectations were solid, but nobody predicted they shatter records with 27 wins and just three losses. This sweep marks just the sixth time in SEC history. A school has claimed all three major awards. The last one came back in the 2013-2014 season.
