Vanderbilt Women's Basketball Dominates High Point

0:00On March 22nd, number two Vanderbilt women's basketball team kicked off the NCAA tournament at home, with a dominant 102-61 win. Over number 15 high point on Saturday, March 21st, hosting the first round gave the Commodores a big edge with their home crowd at Memorial Gymnasium. Stargarde Mikaela Blake's lit up the court, dropping 30 points while breaking Vanderbilt's career scoring record previously set at 800, 55 points back in 1989-90. The SEC player of the year averages 27 points a game and didn't even know she'd hit the milestone until after. Forward Sasha Washington also made history by tying the school's single-game rebound record with 17 boards against a smaller high point lineup. Vanderbilt owned the paint, outscoring opponents 46-30 and crushed the boards 56-26. The win showed great team balance, too, with Aubrey Galvin adding 17 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals.
