On March 6, a van driver in Central London has been sentenced to 8 years in prison after causing the death of a 20-year-old student through dangerous driving. The crash happened on March 18, 2025, on the Strand, where Christopher Jackson, a 27-year-old from Southampton, plowed. His van into a metal gate before striking a bench. Alia Muhammad, a second-year physics and philosophy student at King's College London, died at the scene, leaving her family and friends heartbroken. Jackson had also injured two other people seriously in the incident. Earlier this month, the old Bailey handed down the sentence following his guilty plea in February to causing death by dangerous driving and two counts, of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, bringing some closure to a devastating case.
