2:02Yeah. You know, we talked at Lanta about some of the teams that have like some of the best odds in our kind of view to be able to hoist the Stanley Cup. I would say, I mean, I mean, I would say I have to go with Florida in the Atlantic. Are they in the Atlantic? It's so funny because since they changed the names, like the Metropolitan, I think they're, no, they're the Atlantic. They are the Atlantic. Yeah, you're right. You're right. I was talking, it is. I get them all confused now too. I still think of the Adams division, you know, yeah, back in the day, but I was talking with a former guest Keith Kachuk here at the rank and, you know, he's pumped to have his boys, you know, playing together down in Florida. And he feels the same way like they have a really good opportunity to win the cup.

3:06So yeah, out of the Atlantic, I'll take the Florida Panthers at plus 210 Atlantic. All right. I like it. I like it. Some good value there, right? The Pacific division, right? You know, you're plus 320 if you like any of the teams out west. I know I'll be there starting Thursday, right? Got a bunch of games with the 15 only division with Liam's team and then, you know, be bringing up the rear with the Saturday Sunday game with Collins, Matt, some capital team playing. So excited to get out there. And I know you'll probably fight it up to get the season kicked off there. Yeah, you know what? We've had like a really good, you know, you know, week of practice leading up to this weekend.

4:06You know, the rookie tournament or two games that between the Black Hawks, rookies and the St. Louis Blues, rookies were over the last couple nights. So, you know, hockey seasons upon us watching some good kind of competitive hockey, a bunch of fights, you know, guys trying to make teams. But as far as our group, but, you know, we've been extremely pleased with like the compete level, right? We haven't had to like really push any buttons to have those guys compete and, you know, smaller games or, you know, defensive zone coverage and whatnot. So we're trying to have them be as prepared as possible to start the weekend. And, you know, it's a really big event, you know, going out to Pittsburgh last year and seeing it live. It's really impressive to see the, you know, 16 teams being in one, you know, kind of, you know, facility. And then all the college, you know, coaches and NHL scouts and, you know, just hockey people in general being, you know, in the building and, you know, just kind of being around for the weekend or extended weekend.

5:06So we were super excited to be hosting it. And then, you know, for us to kick it off, it's, you know, talking to some of the boys today on the ice, they're just excited to just get going here, you know, just, you know, as far as that competitiveness. And they feel like they're prepared already. So trying to do our job and where excited as a staff. So ready to get it moving. Yeah. No one knows that, you know, haven't been out to the event. So obviously, you know, my self just as a coach a couple years ago, being out there at the, at the U 15 level. It's really cool. You know, it was really cool. Just in Pittsburgh, obviously you get the two sheets. And then they use the surrounding ranks to play some of the youth games. But it's a great showcase and a good opportunity for, you know, different scouts, the guys at neutral zone, the USHL scouts. Obviously you see all the colleges around you see the NHL guys around more so for the, you know, the draft eligible guys with in the USHL. But the, you know, the way they kind of structure the games is bringing in, you know, different teams, all the all the USHL teams and, you know, some games will start up on Wednesday, right?

6:09They got games at Newland 330. And then, you know, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, right? Kind of, you know, same thing staggered game times out at, out at your rank in Chicago. And I know just talking to a couple college guys recently, like, yeah, we, you know, everybody kind of knew the routine and in Pittsburgh. And, you know, they knew what restaurants to go to and stuff. I'm like, well, I think Chicago is probably a pretty good city to change to. Like I think you got a pretty good selection of places to go and people to see in a city like Chicago, you know. Yeah, you know, being, you know, first time in last year and kind of just seeing the whole setup and talking to the people here, you know, whether it be in our facility or the Black Hawk staff that has helped out, you know, logistically to kind of get everything in place. You know, there's a lot that goes into it. So, yeah, there might be a few hiccups here and there. You know, first year through it. But, you know, I think everyone has kind of the adults in a row, you know, per se. But yeah, it's definitely a nice place to come and visit and easier to get in and out of, I would say, and then Pittsburgh at times.

7:20Yeah. So we'll have to we can see what the final verdict is after the weekend. But yeah, just exciting, exciting times to kick off the season for sure. Yeah, exactly. I know you guys would. So you only had one game last week, just to one exhibition game to wrap things up. How that? Yeah, how that go. I'm not too bad. We missed some guys due to NHL camps. And, you know, one kind of play that was a little, little dinged up or a couple plays. So didn't have our full kind of line up to finish off the exhibition season. But it was an opportunity for some of the players to get some run and, you know, get a look, a little extended look. So it was actually worked out great. And, you know, one of our players, Jayden Kurtz, he's on an anhym. They invited him to the main camp for a while the weekend. Yeah. So a really good experience for him. Was he a draft pick? Yeah. So it was, you know, out there for that rookie kind of situation.

8:23Like we're seeing here. And in Chicago, and, you know, he played well enough to kind of earn, you know, a few days at camp. I think that, you know, that's awesome. It's invaluable. And then Brian McFadden will be coming back. He'll be back on the ice tomorrow and be ready to go. But he was at Washington, rookie camp. And from all reports, he had a good showing. So that's just like all great stuff when you get to be exposed to, you know, like the organization that you got to have to buy. And, you know, you're feeling good about it. You come back now with your boys and, you know, kind of ready to kick things off. It's awesome how they do that now, right? Like when you were going through it. And I know myself just being drafted. But, you know, being able to take part in some of the rookie tournaments that took place in the summer. Those type of rookie camps was always cool. But the fact that these guys get to go out kind of in the fall when they're like hockey ready. And, you know, even have the opportunity as junior guys to still go to, you know, now with the rule changes and everything to go to NHL camp.

9:23They're like, that's awesome. Just great experience for those guys. Yeah. And that's like some of the really good stuff that has come out of some of the changes. You know, it was an NCAA violation for them to even pay for hotels for us back in the day. And, you know, I went down a couple of times in the summer. But to be able to be, you know, you know, around some of the older veterans or even like seeing them kind of get ready for camp and, you know, just kind of get a little taste of it. I think it's, I think it really is invaluable. I'm happy that those guys are able to experience it. Yeah. I get something for you too that's not off the, that's a little bit off the grid here. But it's, you know, it just came to mind. Somebody had sent me a tweet the other day. So, I don't know if you saw it. So representative Tim Wahlberg and Senator John Hustead are introducing a bill that limits the amount of international athletes on a college sports roster to 20%.

10:24The bill is called training and education for American members in university sports and athletics act for the team USA Act. So, did you hear anything about that? Like, I, you know, obviously, it's, it's being introduced. I don't think it's, it's, you know, it's definitely not past or anything, but that's, that's interesting. Yeah, it is interesting. And we're kind of kicking it around today and went through a bunch of college rosters to see where they would land right now. And, you know, a good majority of them were kind of in that threshold of the 20%. Like pushing the limits, you mean? Yeah, I know there, there, there was a lot that were, you know, like 50, 50, you know, which, yeah, which was interesting. And I don't know the benefit for, see, like at first, I was like, I don't know because I understand the concept behind it, but also you're kind of limiting yourself.

11:24And it's not necessarily a player's fault who is like, say, maybe come over to play junior from another country, you know, acclimated to the North American way of life and opportunity to go and play college. So, we're, we're kind of, you know, beating up the idea of like what other sports would be really affected. Yeah, that's it. Right. And, you know, you think there's some basketball teams out there that have recruited overseas, a little bit more aggressively. Up on the mind throughout the, the Trinity College squash team would be enjoyable. There you go. So, more opportunity, I guess, for American kids to pick up squash and have at it and maybe get a chance to play at Trinity. It's a great school. Yeah, and I think, you know, ultimately they would have to really have a little lead time on grandfather, you know, like that transition because you can't just like, you know, because a few, yeah, a few of the teams that we looked up, you know, have to cut half their team.

12:32Yeah, more. Right. And, you know, one of them was, I think it was like 88%. You know, it was not Americans. Yeah, college, you know, D1 program. So, well, you look at it, be you this year. I think this is the first year in history. They're recruiting class, not an American born player in it. Yeah, and see like that's interesting. We're, you know, kind of going, when we're going through it. Like I remember Vermont had a kind of a string of Swedes. You know, and then, you know, say UMass Lowell has traditionally gone north of the border. You know, like this is even before the CHL role. Yeah, I mean, when I was at UNH, it was, I mean, we had a ton of kids like we, they hit home run after home run and like the British Columbia League, like those kids came over. I think of the teammates that I played with and obviously established like, yeah, Hemingway, Hey, our Crog, all those guys with BC guys, Justin Acans, Tyson Soplitsky that I played with, just go to the game and go to the like, you know, and hockey's championship.

13:38You know, like, Lannie gear, like a lot of different guys that were, you know, great players, right? And I it would be interesting to see the if it was 20% or not, but there was definitely, you know, there was definitely we were pushing the limits. Yeah. And then when it went on and played in the NHL for a long time, Toronto kid, like that, you know, like you said, the Hemingway brothers play with both of them, Matt Fowler and Attaro, who have, you know, there's like a lot of different kids that, you know, play in the USHL or the BCHL at that time and came to the, to the state, so it was different. So I was thinking like maybe these two senators, kids got caught because of some importance. Yes. That's what they want to put something to the house, you know. Yeah. I mean, we don't, we definitely don't get into too much politics, but it would make things interesting and, you know, definitely, you know, the way you look at it, obviously, like we look at things from a hockey perspective. It does create more opportunity for American-born players, right?

14:39Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. If 80% of the arostas have to be Americans, then there you go. Yeah. And that's, I mean, I don't know. Like I was kind of whaffling on it and, you know, we just had a little round table discussion about it today. So interesting topic. Oh, big time, big time for sure. All right. TSI hockey up in Salem, New Hampshire. Well, you can, you know, we were just talking about, you know, 20%. You got great discounts up there and it's tax-free in Salem, New Hampshire. So head up to there. Hockey seasons upon us, right? With mid-September here, September 15th, as we record this, my youngest Liam's birthday. Right? So, you know, I have to wrap that up. 18:45Washington Capitals have always been impressed with his game. Obviously, he had a good strong rookie season with the Capitals and a guy that we've enjoyed watching throughout the years with his world juniors and a Boston college and all that stuff. But he gets nice and rewarded one of those young guy contracts that they seem to be hitting home runs with. But 80 years, I think it was about 10.5 a year. Not too bad. Not too bad at all. And the timing of it, you kind of looked at the timing of it, like the new collective bargaining agreements coming into play. It's at midnight. And it goes from like I think eight years to seven years. Yeah, they actually, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you gain that extra year and you know, he's a, I think it kicks in after this year, right? So, you know, congratulations to him. Number one, you know, you know, Ryan played my Ryan played against Ryan Leonard and, you know, just a quality player from, you know, at a young age, but always continue to get better.

19:51He was just like a wrecking ball out there and, you know, at BC and, you know, represented our country really well. And, you know, he just seamlessly stepped into the NHL and has been an impact player. In like his stats, you know, this is the thing that we talked about like Frank, the other, the knees are his contract like, you know, overpaying at an earlier age for the prime of his career. And, you know, hopefully those, those contracts like pan out for these clubs and, you know, you've seen some kind of misses, but, you know, overall, I think a lot of teams have done a good job with that. But yeah, I think he's had like 45 points and 70 something games and, yeah, we talked about it last week with Z. William, right? Same, same type of thing. But, yeah, congratulations to Ryan Leonard, Western Mask kid has put the work in and he's being rewarded financially for sure. Yeah, what I liked about him too is the story. And obviously John Leonard is all the brother was a good player, right?

20:52UMass AMHarris, then, you know, played some games last year with Detroit. But, you know, they didn't, it doesn't seem like a kid that really chased it too crazy. You know, they were down in Springfield area, right, growing up in that long, meadow kind of mass. And, you know, always just played like, you know, that Springfield rifles program and you heard about him, he started his high school career at, you know, Pope Francis. Yeah, the old Springfield Cathedral and, you know, wasn't like, he did play up, you know, he was good enough to play up. And this is when we talk about players that, you know, you dominated a certain level and then you have the opportunity to play up. He did do that for a number of years, but, you know, he was very deserving of that opportunity. And, right. But, you know, he dominated at the old five level of us for sure. Yeah, that's to that. No, he's just a good hard-knows player and a good kid. So, yeah, from from all accounts. So congrats to him. Some sad news in the hockey world, obviously Barry Maltrow's a legend of the game. I'm sure you guys cross path, whether it was down at ESPN or, you know, I know just myself having the opportunity to meet him like, you know, back when him and John Bucci grass covering ESPN doing the college hockey, the tournaments and, you know, he was kind of a, you know, there was some really great little tributes to hit him online in the past week about just a legendary personality.

22:17And, you know, even a friend of my father's got to know him really well down in the Tampa area where he lived and they would skate and go to this one little bar down in Tampa was like a whatever little tavern. And then just a guy that, you know, sit there whole court and talk with the guys and, you know, love going out on Sunday mornings and playing Shinny hockey. But, you know, pretty obviously like a character of the game for sure, what hockey breeds. Yeah, exactly. He's kind of like a bigger than life, you know, a personality. The sport really, you know, kind of like he, like the kind of neat thing is like, he just always held on to what he was, right? Yeah. The slick back here, back in the early 90s, 80s, just one of those guys that really just, you know, and when you thought about the game, me, you know, say growing up, you always thought about Barra Melrose and his, in his kind of style and his personality and it wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind.

23:22And after getting the norm a little bit, you know, I didn't know him real well, but every time I would chat with him about college hockey, he loved doing the NCAA. Yeah. You know, I didn't have frozen for with the John budget grass, like you're mentioning, and, you know, he did the homework and tried to get up to speed because he didn't necessarily watch a ton throughout the year, but then he, really, he was a professional, you know, when he was not behind the bench, you when you got into the booth and, you know, the hockey world is going to mess it up. Like you were old is going to mess in because, you know, like I said, great, you know, huge personality that kind of kind of was like a breath of fresh air like with all the cookie cut is that maybe out there, you know. And just the guy that, you know, growing up in our childhood, right, ESPN ESPN 2 NHL tonight, right, like he, you know, he really was the guy, right, he was the guy that was on and doing the, the, the bits on whether it was sports center, whatever. You could tell he just, you know, was it was a good person, a good friend to a lot of people and tough rugged hard knows defenseman that kind of got the coach and job in Washington, I'm sorry, Washington in in LA with Gratsky and, you know, brought that team in the Stanley Cup finals and, you know, obviously had some other opportunities, but then really found his career in the TV world.

24:42Yeah, and that's it suited him well like he mentioned like he didn't, he wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind and he was just a good hockey mind, as well. And, you know, we're going to mess him and I know, but you pretty well and I know they're really close so, you know, Barry's friends and family. Absolutely. Sean Horkoff, a, you know, obviously a guy that's been around the Detroit organization for a while now, there's a, you know, special kind of advisor and assistant GM. So he's been named the interim GM with the Detroit Red Wings. They obviously moved Steve Iseman upstairs and, you know, we've talked about that in the past, but it's good to see Horkoff kind of get the opportunity and, you know, we'll see what he makes of it. Obviously he's got the interim tag kind of on him and it's a little bit of a try out, I think, to see how Detroit does, but, you know, I know some guys that obviously know him very well and they speak very highly of him.

25:42Yeah, I played against him in college and pro, but he's good person. Just an interesting dynamic there where you think that you would want to replace, you know, fill that position. Whether it be him as an intern or not, you know, just to have some stability, you know, going into training camp, you know, so just have your feet ready. He's been there. He's been the assistant and having, you know, a ton of experience, you know, just in that organization. So it's not like it's new to him, but also, you know, just that kind of peace of mind a little bit from his end would have been nice. I'm guessing a little bit earlier, but, you know, they, they do have some pieces. I know they could struggle a little bit, but I think that, you know, he's going to put his mark on that. You know, organization, you know, the best he can and the time that he's he's in that position, right? So I'm sure he has to answer to his boss is obviously, but he's going to have his own thoughts and I'll be exciting to see if he pulls any moves off.

26:46And, you know, there's a lot of talk about some some players that might want out, but maybe he's the guy to make sure that, you know, he builds around those guys and they have some success moving forward early. All right, and now it's time for my hockey rankings question of the week. Obviously we had Neil and Ian from my hockey rankings.com on. We know those first round of the rankings are going to be dropping at the end of the month here. So make sure you get your game scores and and you check in the website and making sure everything looks good. But this one's a little question. So as a coach, what questions are you looking for your players to ask you? What do you think? I would say I like it. He's just snapped into coach mode here.

28:54Let me clear the throat for this one. I would say the easy quick answer is the right questions. So, you know, I'll kind of clarify what I mean. It's, let's just say we're going over something, whether it be a system or like a concept or, you know, even a drill, you know, where, you know, what, you know, what we need to do, right. This is just like a overall general, you know, kind of message in meaning behind, but we're trying to get a little bit more. And maybe a little bit unspecified. Again, participating 하는 to cool this is an easy schedule plus and we did a science conference on. We haven't had these guys all got one and so, you know, I do get this base question. not the same. You know, you draw it up on the board. This is how we want to execute it, whatever it may be. But, you know, ultimately when you are asked a question and it's the right question, you know, it means that the player is paying attention and they're looking to do the

29:58best they can within that framework of information that we're trying to provide them. So that's my like basic because like you just don't want to play it, just ask questions to ask questions of like brown nose. Yeah. And like, you know, come up and just be like, hey, I get on this, you know, whatever situation it may be and like, and it has nothing to do with what you're, you know, you're actually trying to accomplish. Right. So you're asking questions to further understand maybe the, you know, the overall message of what you're trying to do or what you're trying to teach and I think that stuff is all good, right? Like it makes sense. If you need some clarification, like ask the question, but then pay attention to the answer, right? Like, you know, I've talked to you about it before, but obviously my, you know, I've coached a lot, but I've also, you know, been kind of in the training department at the Boston Police Academy. And a lot of times people just ask questions for the sake of asking questions. And it's like, are you listening to the answer,

31:01right? Are you listening to what I just went over? Like I just said to you that we need to do X, Y and Z, right? I explained it and I asked if anybody had questions. And then you basically just asked me the same question that I just went over, right? So, you know, I think it's, it's, you know, sometimes it's good. And I think, you know, having that communication, I think it's huge. And you know, you want kids to ask and, you know, hopefully further understand, like, you know, the mission that's trying to be accomplished. But, you know, be careful of just asking questions for the sake of asking questions or, you know, something that's completely like off topic or you're asking for individual, you know, stats as opposed to the message that you're trying to get across, right? Yeah. And the other part of it would be, you know, sometimes it's like,

32:01I, this is how I feel. It's like a level of insecurity. You know, you're asking a question that doesn't really relate to, yeah. And it is like a, you know, insecurity thing. And that's just like, you know, at certain age groups, it's natural. But, you know, if I was to kind of advise some, you know, younger players, it would be like, just try to be aware of that. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's going to happen at times where like, you want to engage with the coach, but you don't know how, you know, and just think about what you're, what's coming out of you, mouth, right? Yeah.
