The United States of America has a dark reality hidden within its prison system. The use of prison labor in America has sparked controversy and outrage, with many arguing that it is nothing short of modern-day slavery. In an eye-opening investigation by the Associated Press, they detail how American prisons are utilizing inmates as cheap and inexpensive contracted labor. These prisoners and their labor supply products to some of America's most popular companies, including fast-food restaurants, grocery stores, and large retail chains.
