This president has announced his nomination for the next American ambassador to Australia. David Bratt is a former Republican congressman for Virginia, a Christian conservative, economist and academic. He'll have to wait for the U.S. Senate to confirm his appointment before he officially takes the job. America hasn't had a representative in Canberra since Caroline Kennedy left 18 months ago. The White House is also considering a new Iranian proposal to reopen the straight-of-war moves if the U.S. ends the war against them. America's Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has indicated the U.S. is discussing the offer, which also requires an end to the American Navy blockade. In St Petersburg today, the Iranian Foreign Minister met with Vladimir Putin with Russia offering to mediate peace talks. A key sticking point for the U.S. Iran wants to delay any talks on its nuclear program.
