博物馆位于甲骨文的发现地--河南省安阳市，是"十一五"期间国家重大文化工程。是一组具有现代建筑风格和殷商宫廷风韵的后现代派建筑群，由字坊、广场、主体馆、仓颉馆、科普馆、研究中心、交流中心等建筑组成，总占地143亩，总建筑面积34500平方米。
