鸟形杵（pestle），长37.1厘米、宽10.7厘米、深7.5厘米，出土于巴布亚新几内亚奥罗省艾科拉河（Papua New Guinea）。鸟形杵由石头雕刻而成，用途是将臼里的食物捣碎磨细供人食用，与如今的杵别无二致。鸟形杵的底部是个板球大小的用于研磨的石球，杵柄十分方便抓握看起来就像一只苗条修长的鸟，翅膀张开，细长的脖子前伸，但柄端的鸟形似乎与食物制作毫无关联。现收藏于大英博物馆。
