海南八音乐是海南主要的本土器乐，因采用八大类乐器演奏而得名。八大类乐器为：弦、琴、笛、管、箫、锣、鼓、钹。大部分来自民间的传统乐器，为民间艺人所创造，具有浓郁的海南特色，如花梨木制作的唢呐，椰子壳制作的椰胡，竹管制作的春封、调弦，竹制的箫、喉管，木制的子鼓、梆板等。海南俗称的八音乐既包括乐器、乐曲，也包括乐队。
