Unprovoked Knife Attack: Man Guilty of Murdering Saudi Student

Chas Corrigan's dad, Muhammad Al-Ghaseem, outside student housing near the city's train station, laid on the 1st of August last year. The 20-year-old victim died from a single wound to the neck. Muhammad was in the UK on a 10-week English language course and had never met Corrigan before that night. Corrigan had been drinking at a nearby pub and possibly taken drugs beforehand. He approached a group of students where Muhammad was sitting peacefully, leading to the set in violence. Witnesses describe Corrigan acting aggressively after a brief exchange, pulling out a kitchen knife and striking without warning. The incident was caught clearly on CCTV cameras right outside the accommodation, showing the whole sequence unfold. Prosecutors highlighted how the stab severed key blood vessels, causing fatal bleeding despite quick medical response.
