They cited troubling allegations of abuse involving young women or minors. Instead, the group is encouraging people to join Immigration Justice efforts or community service events nationwide. In a statement released Tuesday, the union may clear it has no direct reports or first-hand knowledge of these claims. It describes some as family matters outside their scope. Still, the allegations hit hard enough to pause the traditional commemorations. Union leaders called the news profoundly shocking and said they need time to respond properly.
