UNC's Wilson Out for Season, Tar Heels Face Duke

0:00On March 7th, UNC basketball freshman Caleb Wilson, a projected top 5 NBA draft pick, will miss the rest of his only season with the Tar Heels. After surgery on a broken right thumb, the injury happened during practice on Thursday March 5th, just as he was set to return from a fractured left hand that sidelined him for nearly a month. Wilson led the team in scoring a 19.8 points per game and rebounding a 9.4 boards per game over 24 appearances. His final full outing came on February 7th when he dropped 23 points in a close 71-68 victory over Duke at home. Despite the tough break, the Atlanta native is keeping a positive outlook on his time in Chapel Hill. He's grateful for the fans, coaches, teammates, and highlights like that. Duke win and plans to support the squad from the sidelines. The Tar Heels have gone 5-1 without him this season, proving resilient even after missing key players at times. Now sitting at 24 and 6 overall, with a 12-5 ACC mark, they're ranked 17th nationally.
