UK's New Towns Plan: 1.5M Homes, Economic Boost

These sites, stretching from South Gloucestershire in the west to Manchester and Leeds in the north, will each house between 15,000 and 40,000 homes. Officials call it the biggest housing push in 50 years, with locations including Temsme, near London, and Field, and Bedfordshire. Some towns will carry historic names like Elizabeth Town for the Lake Queen or one's honoring figures such as Apple Stan, the first King of England, Suffragette and Maline Pankhurst, and Nurse Mary Sequel. Each will dedicate 40% of homes to affordable options, with at least half for social rent, plus high streets, parks, schools, health care, and better transport links.
