UK Politicians Clash Over Muslim Prayer Event

The clash stems from Shadow Justice Secretary Nick Timothy's comments, calling the gathering intimidating and un-British. The event was an open iftar to Mark Ramadan, held in the square for the past six years. It drew hundreds, including London Mayor Saidi Khan, and was one of 18 such events across the city this year. Hermer, a prominent Jewish politician, asked of Badinak and Timothy would object to Jewish prayers in public spaces or if the issue was only with. Muslim ones, he accused them of dividing the country rather than celebrating its diversity. Badinak stood by Timothy, saying she was uncomfortable with women being pushed to the back during prayers and their religious displays must align with, British Norms. Timothy later wrote that the event challenged Christianity and should be banned.
