UK Faith Shift: 1/3 Leave Christianity

0:00On April 25th, a new study drops a truth bomb on faith in the UK. Nearly one in three folks raise Christian have dished by adulthood. That's about 33% overall, hitting 45% for those from Protestant homes and 44% from Catholic ones. Churches are feeling the pinch as dropouts outpaced new joints or even deaths. Pew research crunch data from 24 countries, calling this shift religious switching since folks bounce in all directions, mostly to know. Religion at all. In Britain, 87% of ex Protestants went straight to unaffiliated while lapse Catholics split with 71% non-believers, 14% Protestant and 14% other faiths. Worldwide, Catholic and Protestant numbers are sliding, with more leaving Catholicism than joining in 21 out of 24 spots. Only Hungary bucks the trend for Catholics. Former Protestants make up big chunks of populations in nine countries, showing the global drift away. But hold up, there's a twist with the young crowd.

1:02While this survey cools hype when a Gen Z revival, Bible sales exploded last year to 6.3 million pounds, up 134%. In value since 2019, volumes jumped 106% too, with a fresh 25% value spike into this year. Churches face real challenges ahead, yet these sales surges hint some sparks of interest might still flicker amid the fade.
