On March 25, millions of people across Great Britain head to the polls on May 7 for a pack slate of elections. Voters in Scotland and Wales would choose members for their parliaments while folks in England cast ballots for thousands of council seats and several. Mayors. In Scotland, all 129 seats in the parliament are up for grabs. The Scottish National Party holds the largest block right now under leader John Swinney, coming just one seat shy of a majority, back in the 20. 21 vote. Boundary tweaks mean some districts look different this time around. Wales sees big changes too, with the parliament growing from 60 to 96 seats and switching to a fresh voting setup across 16 new. Districts. Labor controlled half the seats after the last win in 2021 and they're aiming to hold strong amid the shakeup. On in England, over 5,000 council spots across 137 local authorities are in play, including every London borough and patches in the West Midlands, Northwest and beyond.
Labor is defending the most at over 2,500, followed by conservatives with more than 1,300 in liberal. Democrats near 700, six mayoral races round things out, five in London and one in Wofford. These votes offer a snapshot of shifting local moods, especially with newer players like reform UK iron gains since many seats were last fought in. 2022.
