I'm Cory with the story, bringing you the latest from Birmingham News today. The University of Alabama at Birmingham will host the 2026 Alabama State Spelling B on Saturday, March 21st. 53 students from 4th through 8th grades will compete for the state champion title after advancing from hundreds of school b's across. Alabama The event is sponsored by the Alabama Kiwanis Foundation, along with scripts and many local schools. This March the 4th year, UAB has put on the competition. Families, teachers, and school administrators can attend to cheer on the students, but the public is not invited due to limited seating in the burst. University Hall Auditorium Check-in starts at 10am. With the B kicking off at noon, the state winner earns an all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. for the script's national spelling B from May 24th through 29th. Last year, 9-year-old Snake Departee from Birmingham took the title by spelling jurisprudence correctly, though she was eliminated during the national, written test.
