Tyler Luke broke his silence on Jake Moody being signed by the Baltimore Ravens. And his response, I think, is pretty telling. You are locked on Ravens. Your daily Baltimore Ravens podcast. Part of the Locked on Podcast Network. Your team every day. You are locked on Ravens. Welcome into the show and your host, Kevin Ostryker of Ravens. Wire today's episode of Locked on Ravens is brought to you by Kalshi for living at time down in Kalshi, Japanese code locked on to get $10 when you trade $10 on today's show. We dive into a little bit of that Ravens and Colts match up in week number one. Just a couple days away now. I cannot believe we're just a couple days away from this.

I'll kick it off when the second part of the show when I've into the Ravens. Having some good health news, a good health report on Wednesday. But in the first part of the show, Tyler Luke, he broke his silence officially on the Ravens bringing in Jake Moody. And his response was telling in a lot of different ways. I want to talk about that here in the first part of the show. So Tyler Luke spoke to the media on Wednesday and was asked about Jake Moody and the whole situation. And Tyler Luke said, quote, I got to focus on what I can control. No matter what the systems are made, all I can do is do my best from the past foot in front of me. And I just do that best I can. I've found a lot of peace in that. It's the weirdest thing. But I'm almost kind of glad that the situation is happening. I think it makes everyone better. Love competition. It's a good thing. Talking about competition, brief success. And I've had a lot of fun with it. Jake's a great guy. So it's been fun to be around him and talk to him. I thought really good about going all in on one kick at a time. So I think this is telling for a couple of different reasons. I mean, Tyler obviously understands the situation and what's happening.

I'm sure Tyler understands why Jake Moody was brought in. But at the same time, at least from what I can tell Tyler is embracing it. And that's what I wanted this to be. We had talked about it when the Ravens hadn't brought anybody in and when the Ravens brought in Jake Moody after that happened. And I was like, look, this can go probably one of two ways, maybe more. But I just narrowed it down to one of two ways. One is this where Tyler kind of embraces it all, right? And kind of goes with the flow and says, all right, hey, you know what? I'm going to make sure that I can get better each and every day. And that competition is, you know, a friendly one and one that, you know, makes both guys better. The other way is Tyler now looking over his shoulder and it makes things even worse. But it seems like that's not the second part is not what's happening. It seems like the first part is. And I get and I kind of didn't have, I mean, I kind of thought it was going to go that way the first way and I'm glad that it has. But I think Tyler makes a really good point about it being one kick at a time, essentially, right? Because you do have to have that, let's move on to mentality when there is a mess up,

when you do mess up. And, you know, like you can dwell on it, you can figure out what's wrong. But in that moment, like you have to be like, all right, I got to move on to the next kick. I got to make this next kick. The problem is you can't have that mentality too often because that means you're missing too many kicks, right? So there's that trade off for that. But, you know, Jake Moody is somebody that I think can push Tyler just enough to where he's not like a threat right now to Tyler's kicker status. But certainly can become that way if Tyler starts to miss kicks and Baltimore clearly out of all the guys that were in there. You know, there was potential to maybe bring in a guy like Blake Ruby, but he ends up getting claimed by the Jets. So Jake Moody was the guy that they say, all right, hey, you know what, we want you to come in here. And at the very least, right, at the very least, the competition point is, hey, does come in here and kick him practice. But if it doesn't go well with Tyler, but you're going to have to make a change because, again, you drafted Tyler, it was the first ever draft picked. The Ravens used on a kicker. I get it. Like, there is that there. But honestly, that doesn't hold a lot of weights to me.

Like, if a guy can play a guy can play, if a guy can't play a guy can't play it. I don't think this is about Tyler not being able to play. I think he's very talented. But at the same time, like we've kind of talked about, it's more so just about the fact that I think it's mental for Tyler, is he, you know, kind of struggles with that aspect. And, you know, like he had not a bad rookie season. I keep saying, like Tyler had a fine, good rookie season, but it was that big kick against the Steelers. The kick-offs, which were really bad, which two Tyler's credit, I thought he did really well with over the course of the preseason. And then it's just from 50 plus. Like, you have to be able to hit 50 plus in today's NFL consistently. You do. I mean, Justin Tucker was ahead of the game on some other kickers were ahead of the game on it as well. But like, now kickers are like, Latin up for 60 yard vocals, no sweat. And people are expecting them to make those kicks. Right? If you're a Tyler, you can't make a 52 yarder consistently. I mean, that's a really big problem in today's NFL because the forces you're offends to make tough decisions go up front on fourth downs, punk them all away. When you can come away with three points and sometimes that's the difference.

So it went on a lot. So all those things definitely factor in. But I'm glad Tyler's seems to be embracing the competition here again. This was some breaking his silence on this situation. And hopefully the competition can make Tyler better. And we're talking about a kicker this year in Tyler Luke, who has a great second season. It's more consistent for 50 plus. And maybe we can look back on the Jake Moody acquisition. And Tyler's determination to get better is something that really pushed him along. So I'm hoping here come up there on the second part of the show. We'll talk about the right ones getting some good health news on Wednesdays, which is they do going to come up on the show. It's work for today's episode comes from Quo. It's about who you are, the business phone system built so you never miss a call for businesses. Every call, community and opportunity and missing one can mean missing a customer. Quo brings calls, texts and voice mail together in one place. So teams can see the full conversation, respond quickly and stay organized. You can also be set up in minutes on any device, keep an existing number and add teammates as the business grows. Whole health businesses stay reachable and professional without being complex.

With an optional AI agent for after hours calls, businesses can answer questions and book appointments even when the team is offline. And I've texted companies, I've called companies for a quote and sometimes I've never heard back. And if I call business, nobody answers, I'm probably moving on to the next option. For a small business, that miss call could be a customer they never get back. Having quote, keep calls, texts and voice mail is organized, gives the team a better chance to respond quickly and keep that customer money is on the line. All right, let's talk about the Ravens health situation here. The Ravens put out some good news on the practice field as they put out all 53 players, all 33 players practice for the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. Now that comes after Tess Walker. He had a little situation yesterday, but the Ravens or I think all the days are blended together. I think it was yesterday with Tess where I though he wasn't out there. He was limited or something, but Tess Walker back out there on the practice field for the Baltimore Ravens. I'm really, really excited. Yeah, so Tess wasn't in uniform for practice yesterday. I knew I remember it was remembering that right. So Tess wasn't in uniform for practice yesterday, but he was back on the field today and Zay Flowers even talked about his situation because he was dealing with some stuff and it was actually will get to the injury report in a second, but Zay ended up saying he's excited to play football. He's ready to play.

He's feeling great better than ever. And the injury report, there was four players on the list. Now, obviously three of them were, I mean, I actually all four of them were expected because it was Zay Flowers, Tess Walker, Teddy Buchanan and Nondy Metabike, all four of those players were listed as limited participants in practice. Zay Flowers with a hamstring injury. That was what he was listed with. Then Tess Walker with growing injury, Teddy Buchanan with the knee and Nondy Metabike with the neck injury. So seems like Ravens are on track here. Now, we don't know if Nondy Metabike or Teddy Buchanan will be playing week number one. Again, I will assume as Zay Flowers comments and Tess being back out there, both those guys are on the right track. And that's not to say that Nondy and Teddy aren't, but it's just about, it's obviously different. It's different ramp up processes for guys that are coming off of those serious, serious injuries that they need some, it's just part of their recovery process. And then for guys like Zay and Tess Walker, we're just dealing with getting banged up over

the course of the last ham for the weeks or whatever it may be. So great news for Baltimore though. This is what you want to hear. And again, some teams don't have it as fortunate as this. Some teams get super banged up during the preseason, during training camp. And the Ravens did lose Danny Pinter to an injury, which is really unfortunate for the season. But even still, some teams are like San Francisco, for example, just going through it right now over there. There are some other teams that are going through it as well. So luckily in the Ravens, I've experienced that over seasons in the past. So you know, these clean-ish injury reports, like very, very grateful for them. I hope it stays this way for the entire season, although knowing this is football, I don't have a lot of high hopes for that. But again, Baltimore just hopefully is going to be able to manage injuries this year, right? Just be able to, if guys do get hurt, hopefully it's just, just guys being banged up and be able to play through it, right? And that's just the nature of how physical football is. You're going to get banged up over the course of a season. It is what it is.

But in my opinion, Baltimore over the last couple of years, I mean, in terms of season ending injuries, they've been pretty good about not having those and not going what it continues to go that way for them. But you know, they had a ton of injuries in terms of like Lamar, Kyle Hamilton, Rohquan Smith, like you know, all on and on and on and on about all the injuries, Baltimore suffered last year for guys who were just a game absence, couple game absences, maybe a month absence. That's not all that's up though. And again, it gives me more confidence here that Baltimore has the depth that they do this year to be able to combat all of that. So very excited for that. And again, just it's big to be healthy going into week one, you know, something I personally know, tape a grant. I'm sure the guys over there do not either. And you know, just there were some concerns about say potentially like what is that injury is going to linger, you know, hand-fing injuries are tough, but it feels like they feels good. So yeah, I'll take that from Z flowers. And again, I just think the biggest question mark shifts to Nambi and Teddy about whether they will be ready for week one.

I still don't necessarily think so. But again, is these updates have come out, it has given me more and more optimism that it truly could be the case. I'm definitely not going to rule those guys out for week number one until the Ravens do. Because at this point, like we've seen Nambi defy a ton of odds already. And if he comes back in week one from this neck injury, I mean, it'll be one of the greatest recovery summer for seeing, you know, we don't really even know the injury, but just the severity of a neck injury and everything and kind of what the conversation was. That would be awesome. So Ravens in a good place of health right now, hopefully it stays that way for as long as possible, hopefully through February. But right now, good place for Baltimore to be at. Come up in the final part of the show. We'll talk a little. But a good place to the Ravens to be at. Come up in the final part of the show. Let's talk about this Ravens and Colts came a little bit more. We've kind of been going about it over the last handful of days. I've just really wanted to, even back dating last week, we talked with Sam and Joe Kovat, because I just wanted to start talking about football.

Other Ravens aren't a really good spot, as I've mentioned, because of the fact that, in my opinion, Baltimore doesn't have any film on them. There's no film. This Colts team, what are they studying? They can go and look at the Colts and Chargers game from last year, where the Colts actually won that game. But that's Justin Herbert. This is Lamar Jackson. That's a deep fence that doesn't have Kyle Hamilton on it. That's Durwin James, but we can be honest about it. Durwin James is not Kyle Hamilton. There's a lot that goes into that situation. I think for Indianapolis, obviously, the number one thing is being able to stop Jonathan Taylor on the ground. Stop that Colts ground game. You're going to be in a really, really, really good spot moving forward. I think, to me, that's the number one priority for this Ravens team. Jones coming off as a killi's injury. We'll see. I like Pierce expected to play in this game, obviously. That's another aspect of this as well. Colts defense. I'm looking in the trenches. I'm going to get in the start for the Baltimore Ravens at center.

What is that going to look like for Grover Stewart on the D line for the Forest Pluckner on the D line as well? You know, Saw Skarner, they traded for from the Jets last year with a lot of high expectations that it really go well after they traded for him. Is he going to be a guy that bounces back? Well, what can Zay flowers do or a shot Bateman do against a guy like that? So, you know, all very intriguing stuff overall. But I just, I think the Ravens are the better team. Like I just do. Now, that's not to say they're going to automatically win the game. You know, obviously they're going to have to go through some, you know, growing things potentially and some other things as well that, you know, might make the game closer than even I think it's going to be. And you know, getting the predictions as the week goes along across the Thursdays also come back tomorrow as well. So we'll talk a lot about Colts about it too. But like, I do think that for Baltimore, there is a lot to like about the match of itself. Because I think if you can just stop Jonathan Taylor, make that Colts offense one dimensional, it's going to really help you out overall. And there are some things that Baltimore didn't do well last year that I expect to do a lot better this year in terms of conversion rates, offensively and defensively, you know,

whether it's third down red zone, whenever it may be like all that stuff, you know, felt like third and short, which is terrible for them, even though they had Derek Henry and the more Jackson. So, you know, all that stuff is going to be something more if you can gain momentum on that heading into week two against New Orleans at home. Really, really big deal. Really, really, really, really big deal. So I'm really excited for it. And I am, I'm really optimistic honestly. Like, you know, it's not even just the fact that like, oh, you know, the Ravens and all this stuff and the Colts, I mean, Colts are a good team. Colts are a good team. But I just, I don't think they're in the upper echelon of the AFC contender sphere. I think Baltimore is. That's just really what it comes down to me. I think India is one of those teams that like we fight for a wild card spot. You know, they have question marks about just like what their ceiling is. And I think Baltimore, if they can hit on their ceiling early in this game, I mean, it's going to be really, really good for the Ravens because I just don't think the Colts can keep up. You know, Jonathan Taylor is going to be the guy to really spark that. The Colts can take deep shots with Alec Pierce and some other stuff as well. So you got to be able to defend that don't let anything get past you.

But at the same time, I just think that the skies is just a minute. It's going to be able to cook up on defense and offensive with that kind of those going to be able to do with no film. The Colts can study on this Ravens offense and defense and just team to be really big deal. So I'm really excited for this game as a whole. That's all I have here today.
