New South of Victoria this afternoon, two children have died following a horror role over west of Melbourne and as we go to wear five others are being treated for their injuries in hospital. Cassie's over us is in power and Cassie, your routine school pickup turned to tragedy. The 34 year old mother had just picked up the children from this school here behind me, which is just eight kilometres from where the fatal crash occurred yesterday afternoon. The female driver and seven children were in the eight seat of four wheel drive when it flipped on a straight stretch of road in power and just after four o'clock. Pictures from the seven news helicopter show the utter chaos and devastation as paramedics and first responders rush to the scene. We understand good Samaritans who witnessed the crash stopped immediately as well to offer any assistance to the first responders. CPR was performed on a seven year old girl, but tragically she died at the scene.

An 11 year old boy was flown to the Royal Children's Hospital with critical injuries. He underwent emergency surgery last night, but sadly he passed away in the early hours of this morning. Five other children were taken to the Royal Children's Hospital and today are in a stable condition. The head of investigators say speed was not a factor, nor was drugs and alcohol. For my understanding the scene was quite hectic with family coming as well. And there were people everywhere, witnesses who witnessed it, they stopped and rendered assistance. Obviously with seven children, they were distressed and they were cared for by paramedics, members of the public and police. The driver was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for observation, but we understand police are yet to formally interview her. Students and members of the community are being offered counseling for those affected by this awful tragedy.
