Peyton Turner, the 27-year-old former first-round pick of the New Orleans Saints, has signed with the Detroit Lions. The team made the announcement on Friday, giving the defensive end a fresh shot after stints with two other clubs. Turner spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys, but set out the entire year after a preseason rib injury. Before that, injuries hampered him throughout four years in New Orleans, where he appeared in just 31 of 68 possible games. Over that time, he recorded five sacks and 11 tackles for loss, but never earned a start. Selected in the 2021 draft out of Houston, Turner was an unexpected choice who struggled to break through. Meanwhile, the three defensive ends picked right after him have thrived in the league. Greg Russo has 32 sacks and 78 games with the Buffalo Bills. Odoffe OA has 30.5 in 79 games, and Joe. Trian Choyinka has 15 in 62.
