From the Daily News Now Network, this is entertainment and celebrity news today. President Donald Trump described the resignation of his former counterterrorism chief, Joe Kent, as a good thing. Kent stepped down after publicly criticizing the recent United States and Israeli attack on Iran. Trump spoke to reporters on March 17th, while meeting with Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin, Kent, a veteran of United States Special Forces, and the CIA with 11 overseas deployments, lost his wife in a 2019 suicide bombing. In Syria, in his resignation letter posted online, he argued that Iran posed no imminent threat to America and called for a reversing course on the war. Trump pushed back hard, saying he always saw Kent as nice, but weak, on security. He insisted every country recognizes Iran's danger and made it clear the administration does not want officials who disagree on the need to strike. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt dismissed claims of foreign pressure as insulting and laughable. She said Trump acted on compelling evidence of an imminent Iranian attack.
Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, Kent's former boss, supported the president fully. She confirmed Trump concluded the Iranian regime posed an immediate threat and took action based on solid intelligence.
