Back in 2011, I was fed up, sick of cheap disposable clothes that fell apart after a few washes, and even more sick of the fact that almost nothing good was made here anymore. So I started American Giant to prove something that we could still make the absolute best hoodies, t-shirts and pants right here in America with American cotton, American factories, and American workers earning real wages. We exist to bring manufacturing home, create good jobs and towns that need them, and build clothes that actually last. No shortcuts, no overseas compromises. Here at the zebra, research shows people would rather teach their kids to drive than search for auto and home insurance. I know what I'm doing, Mom.
Or attend a corporate team building workshop. Go team, feel that synergy. Or be regaled by Uncle Frank's conspiracy theories. They're listening to us right now. That's why the zebra searches for you, comparing over 100 insurance companies to find savings no one else can. Compare today at the zebra.com, we do the searching, you do the savings. There we are. Hello, friends. Steve Stockton here with you. Today, we're bringing you something just a little bit different. National and State Park Bigfoot encounters. Join me. Let's take a walk and see. For many years, we've heard of the phenomenon Bigfoot roaming our state national parks in the United States. Certainly, the most popular is brought to our attention by the infamous Patterson Gremlin film regarding a possible Bigfoot that was coined patty back in 1967. Well, I'm horseback, Cameron Han shooting footage for an entirely different film. Roger Patterson and Bob Gremlin accidentally stumbled upon this enigmatic creature
roaming in Northern California's Bluff Creek, of which they later claimed to be Bigfoot. Over the years, many articles, books and television shows had jumped on board to either help to support or debunk the existence of Bigfoot or even the Patterson Gremlin film itself. Many groups and a new variety of researchers soon developed to explore our national state parks in an effort to discover and prove the existence of this creature. Popular science at best regards Bigfoot more of an imagination or in some cases a giant ape or some kind of missing link. Despite the many videos and encounters that have matriculated over the years, Bigfoot in most circles has been deemed mostly folklore or in some sort of hyper exaggerated imaginations by the people involved. These folks are mainly researchers who have spent years in our national parks and state forest, including novice Bigfoot enthusiasts who spend weeks and weekends trying to get that video, picture or audio of the hoops, yells, footprints casting or even hear a popular wood knock.
Today, we do not explore the existence of Bigfoot when concentrating on these encounters by the groups of men and women who proclaim to have had a variety of encounters in our national and state parks. These stories are not subject to research only, but by the many folks who simply camp out or explore these great American parks. First up, Salt Lake National Park. According to USA Today, this park in Ohio claims to be one of the most heavily saturated areas in the state of Ohio for SAS Quatch or Bigfoot sightings. Two hikers who will call John and Larry decided to spend the afternoon in this national park as they often do to be with mother nature and explore all that she has to offer. The two men had grown up together and often made this a monthly ritual to go off and hike upon their favorite trails. Throughout the years, the two friends had never experienced what was lurking in the shadows for them on this sunny winter day in January of 2012. We should not be here, John and exclaimed as he and Larry came upon a shadow in the woods that stepped out of the tree line to give them a full view of something
that today is hard to imagine. To their disbelief, a hairy upright creature standing about seven and a half feet tall and merged with Emma's walking on two legs. The two men looked at each other and for that brief moment of glancing at each other, their terror heightened as this possible Bigfoot had disappeared back into the depths of the tree line. Next up, New River Gorge National Park. This encounter was reported by Billy Humphrey and his wife, Sheena, out of Denny's County, West Virginia, less than a mile from this newer American National State Park. This encounter took place in October of 2019. Billy Humphrey has stated time and time again, quote, Bigfoot does not exist and you would have to be crazy to think otherwise, end quote. More or less the words that Mr. Humphrey stated during an interview with a local newspaper from his hometown, Denny's. Humphrey, former U.S. Marine, avid hunter and homeowner from his hometown, keeps going over and over what he encountered during preparation of his hunting blind, a mile or so away from his home.
And setting up his deer stand, roughly nine feet off the ground, Billy had spread an assortment of food several feet away from the blind in the hopes of drawing some deer interview. Upon returning several hours later to his blind, he noticed that all the food was gone. Restrated at his finding, Billy once again scattered more food in the hunting area. Surely there were rodents ranging from squirrels to possums, raccoons and deer in the area and to gobble up his bait so fast seemed highly irregular. This time, Billy spent the second night in his stance to investigate just who or what these culprits were. Then that night, an eerie and unsettling feeling came over Mr. Humphrey, so much so that he sent a text message to his wife, Sheena. Then suddenly, out of darkness, something approached him directly in the back of his blind and he imagined what was a heavy footfall. Billy is up nine feet in his blind remember as attached to light to the top of his tree stand. The movement now moved from the back of him and passed directly in front of the stand, which cast a large shadow in front of him.
Billy had talked this more than likely a bear, but the next morning, Billy had described the night's events and asked Sheena to join him after she got off from work. Sheena agreed, and approximately at 4 p.m., they left for the hunting site. After reaching the location, the couple waited till night time to be on high alert. After 15 minutes past sunset, Sheena explained to Billy, there he is. There's who, Billy retorted. Bigfoot, Sheena replied. Billy reached her cell phone and claimed he had snapped a picture of what appeared to be a Sasquatch. The big foot turned towards the couple, moaned loudly and then disappeared into the darkness of the forest. Billy Humphrey did not go back to this location for over a month, still disheveled from his experience. And when he did, he found his tree blind that had been nine feet above the ground, tattered and torn to pieces. Next, we have the Shoshone National Forest, Wyoming, 1972. While at Wild River Range in the Shoshone National Forest, fishing game biologist John Mayan-Zinke,
who works for the state, happened upon a very intense Bigfoot encounter. While his first launch was that of a bear that came upon his campsite to investigate all the freshly cooked food, which emitted an intense aroma in the fresh Shoshone air, John had been tucked away in his tent after a fine evening meeting some bacon beans and a fresh half-pot at coffee. The time had gotten away from John, as he was poised for a good night's sleep with the next day's planned event of getting up early and trying to snag a few traps. From the crystal-clear river that ran through the range. The moon was high and bright, John figured the time to be close to midnight, when suddenly he heard a rough sounding grunt and a shadow move up alongside his tent. The shadow appeared to be moving slowly, and was lower to the ground with a movement stop. Mr. Mayan-Zinke raised his right hand and smacked with this animal through the tent wall, while yelling and shouting rather loudly at this apparent bear paying him a good night's visit. The smacking of the animal and shouting out through the tent seemed to ward off the bear, but only by a few feet. After a few minutes, the creature returned two more times
up close to John's tent. The third time, however, was much different. The body or shadow that loomed close to the ground was now standing upright on its legs. The image casted in the shadows was not wobbling like a bear, instead it stood firm and taught. This was no bear, John thought loud. Then he struck out towards this creature, hitting it through the tent, when suddenly an arm covered in hair came crashing down on top of the tent. Just before the tent collapsed, John noted that at the end of this hairy, outstretched arm was that of a human-like, shaped hand and certainly not the paw of a bear. distinctly, there appeared to be four fingers and an opposable thumb. This was definitely no bear. The crashing down of the tent seemed to ward off this humanoid type intruder. After John got out from beneath the tent, he stumbled over to a still-lit fire, singing an upright position with a firearm within his reach where he drifted off to sleep. John was awakened by the sounds of something hitting the ground all around him. Rather quickly, he noted that the following items were pine cones.
After realizing that the closest pine tree was several yards away and there was no breeze in the air, John realized that someone or something was actually throwing these cones at him. John continued to look from tree to tree when he finally found his nemesis. That tall upright figure, indeed, was tossing out pine cones in his direction. Having had enough, John slowly started to walk down the trail and away from funny today, believes was a big foot. John did report this to the local DNR in the area and was pleased to find out that this was not the first time it was turned to activity to be reported in the Shoshonee National Forest. Goathe State Forest. Denise D'Shanes has seen at least one big foot in a time spent in Goathe State Forest and has captured many images on video and still photographs during her long walks in this Florida State Park. Denise had first started exploring the forest while riding on horseback throughout her years discovering what nature had to afford her. She readily admits that she never really paid much attention to her surroundings as she was enjoying riding the trails and observing nature. When back problems surfaced her Denise,
she had to give up her endeavours riding her horse but was determined to still take to the woods. So Denise began hiking the trails of the Goathe State Forest to continue her love of nature. This is where her observance and attention to detail came into much better focus during these long hikes. Denise's soul and counter came upon a trail where she filled as though she was being flanked from inside the wood line. A rather tall and shadowy figure seemed to be pacing her steps while trotting about her path. The tree line was dense and Denise started rapidly taking snapshots and recording video along the woods edge as well as the trail in front of her. Denise was reported as saying, I know that they are there walking along the side of me. The key word here is day as Denise claims that there is more than just one. After hundreds of photographs and lots of video, Denise is convinced that she has had several encounters. She goes on to explain that these creatures appear in many of her stills and to help cooperate or explain these images, she sent off her findings to professional photographers and even the BFRO or the Bigfoot Research Organization.
Among these photos included large figures standing and lurking behind trees along with several large footprints that seem unusually large to be human. Responses back from the professional photography out. Here at the Zebra, research shows the average person would rather endure a root canal than search for auto and home insurance. Just try to relax. What's can either deny or confirm the photos, but do agree that there is something captured in the photos. The BFRO did offer some conclusions in regard to possible big foot sightings in the ghost estate forest. A witness report in 2012 stated that there were unusual scrape marks going high up into the tree. The markings seemed unusual and could not be identified as to what type of animal it was and they were deemed unidentifiable. The same witness reported that hours later he felt as though he were being flanked and watched from the tree line much like Denise's early report. Further, his report goes on to read that growls and grunts were heard along with the finding as some very large footprints. In 2005, from the same state park as reported by the BFRO, 200s made claims of actually seen not one but two skunk apes, which is another name for big foot in Florida,
watching them from a distance for approximately 10 minutes. The hunters made claims to also sing rather large non animal footprints. With the many reports and claims of big foot activity in the ghost estate park, it makes it a hotspot for today's big foot enthusiasts and researchers. Next story comes to us from Palmetto State Park. The writer goes on to say, upon hiking the Palmetto State Park in the state of Texas, my husband and I decided to venture down the San Marcos River Trail. It was a beautiful and crisp February day and the fresh air filled their lungs as well as the fabulous fragrances that only mother nature can provide. We were the only ones on the trail, and as we progressed, we decided to walk down the San Marcos River bank. While we approached the river, my husband and I noticed large sets of footprints, unusually large for feet, but we really did not give it a second thought as we were enjoying the beautiful scenery while listening to the sounds of the birds and other wildlife that surrounded us.
My husband was traveling in back of me as we decided to proceed back up the sandy bank to get up to the trail. Then angrily, my husband shouted out to me that someone had thrown a rock at him landing only a few feet behind him. I'd blown it off thinking that my husband was just joking and trying to get a rise out of me. But once we reached the top of the hill, my husband had made mention that he was not joking and a rock perhaps the size of a baseball came extremely close to him, nearly hitting him. As we continued down the trail, we heard strange noises in the background. Like the breaking of tree branches and sounds that, frankly, appeared just to be odd. We both brushed it off due to the fact that it was wildlife and we just decided to continue enjoying the day. Later, while still hiking the San Marcos River Trail, we heard a very strange how. There'd been quite a few cows in the area and thought that perhaps this had been the source of the strange sound. However, my husband being in the slaughter business, you've every sound that a cow can make and this was definitely not one of them, according to him.
We came upon a fork in the trail that now picked up the Mesquite Flat Trail, so my husband and I had decided to take this new path. After several minutes hiking this trail, that's strange how once again, rang out in the near distance. My husband and I tried not to panic. We stayed calm and again attributed the odd vocalization to wildlife. Several minutes down the trail, we crossed an adjacent trail and approached a bridge that we crossed over. Upon crossing the bridge, we heard the sound of a loud snap, which kind of sounded like a firecracker going on. We then realized the sound was that of a rather large tree limb falling to the ground. Then we heard running through the woods. The running did not sound like that of a human nor the sound of an animal. It was extremely hard to place what this was. The heavy footfalls pounded the ground and we knew this was close. As literally, we could feel the vibration underneath their feet. Now we were starting to get scared. Then I saw it. Looking towards the tree line, an extremely tall and dark figure
was moving fast between the trees and brush. The figure was much too stealthy to be a person. In fact, it was neither long nor lean. It was not close to the ground, like perhaps a deer or a cougar. It was on two legs and had a girth much wider than that of a bear's. Then this creature disappeared from sight, kind of like it vanished before my eyes. My husband and I decided to walk back across the bridge where we heard the large limb fall. Our effort was for naught as we could not locate anything that could substantiate that crashing sound. Then for one last time, I looked back towards the area where I'd seen this creature. In the distance, I saw what appeared to be a huge black stump. However, this was not a stump. Directly in front of my eyes, this stump rose straight up on two legs and almost immediately as it rose, it quickly disappeared back into the forest. My husband and I decided it was time to leave while we still had the chance. This is an encounter that will never be forgotten.
Next, we have Hunting Island State Park. Dan and Beth, the brother and sister, along with their friend Eddie, were spending the afternoon at the lighthouse exit at Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina. It was the summer of 2022 in the month of August. Today's plans were to investigate the lighthouse as according to local legends, this property has been haunted from the early 1900s and the trio, avid ghost hunters, had read many reports of apparent activity during the afternoon hours. For many ghost hunters, this is highly irregular and so they decided to give it a try. What was not foreseen by this group of young adventures wasn't going to be exactly what they'd hoped to find. Dan, driving with Beth alongside him in the front seat and Eddie sprawled out in the back of the spacious 2019 Chevrolet Denali, were taking in the beautiful coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The roadway drastically took a rather sharp curve along the interstate when Danny had abruptly applied the brakes to the vehicle literally sprawling Eddie almost up into the front seating area.
Both the passengers turned to Dan and asked what in the world he thought he was doing what all he could do was to motion them to look directly out in front of the Denali. The group looked in amazement as the vision of a brownish, black-haired covered creature standing six feet tall, breaking to the other side of the road, disappearing into the tree line on the opposite side from the coastline. The creature walked upright and swiftly on two legs giving the young adults only a second to process what they had just experienced. After the beast had disappeared, the group gathered in amazement and came to the determination that they did not see a ghost as originally planned, but in fact had spotted the elusive bigfoot. Next up, we have the Ujari National Forest. Sometimes when it comes to bigfoot encounters, not all have to be long, scary, unthinkable or unbelievable. For the many encounters I was supported either by the BFRO, the Bigfoot Research Organization or other references or guides, typically we come across the Bigfoot that crosses the road, the rocks are in creature from the wood line,
the hunter that lined up a creature on his telescope side on his rifle, or even something as simple as finding and casting a large footprints in the forest. This encounter is a little different. The writer continues, my encounter in the Ujari National Forest is a creature that I simply will never forget, and for me it acts as mental stability with the need to be told that I'm not going crazy. There's a form of comfort level when hearing about people and their encounters while out of the woods. Whether it be hiking, hunting, fishing, or camping, they all provide a certain piece knowing that I am not the only one. It was June 18th of 2020, when I experienced what I believed to be a bigfoot. I'll travel north that highway 109, just parallel to a set of railroad tracks, but approximately 200 feet away, is when I became a believer of the enigmatic bigfoot. Paying attention to the road ahead, it was just getting dark enough as to where using the headlights still was an option. I chose to turn them on as I needed soon enough darkness would fall.
Just as I switched on my headlamps, is where this massive and tall figure, at least eight feet tall, had very quickly jumped out directly into the middle of the road. To my disbelief and what I was saying, I slowed down to get a better look and whatever this was in front of me. This creature was covered in black hair from head to toe. There was a differentiation in the color between the face and hands. As I came a bit closer, the hands were darker than the lighter complexion of the face. When I say hands, I mean hands. I easily took note of four fingers and an opposable thumb. The face looked human. In fact, so much that it reminded me of a very large person. Tyler Reddick here from 2311 Racing. Victory Lane? As I was getting closer, this giant creature took a huge leap and disappeared across the railroad tracks
into the wood line. This next story comes to us from the Manistee National Forest. The writer says, June 15th, 2018, we'll go down as one of the most traumatic days of my life. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend Cindy with a fishing trip to Cadillac, Michigan that backs up to the Manistee National Forest. Cindy, not much of an outdoors person, much to her, she grinned. It's not all that amused at my surprise that I'd bestowed upon her. Reluctantly sugaryed, most of it appeased me. Small if we drove down Interstate 75 towards Cadillac. Once we arrived, I'd ridden a small cabin of which included a small bass boat to take on the lake to start our adventure. We got on the lake at approximately 10 o'clock that morning and the day began. Lake Cadillac is a huge lake that's surrounded by many homes, small retail shops, and a smaller industry. It's a community that thrives on both local businesses as well as out of towners to help keep its economy thriving. After an hour or so of fishing the lake, Cindy was getting bored
as we just not gotten any bites. And for a person's first attempted fishing, this was not going as anticipated. With little to no success, I decided to travel across the lake to canal that connected Lake Cadillac to Lake Mitchell. Moving through the Madman Canal and boating into Lake Mitchell, I'd noticed that to build up for homes and businesses was much less than on the big lake. Keeping in mind that this lake is sizeable, but not nearly as populated along the shoreline, we proceeded through Lake Mitchell and found a spot in the southwest corner of what locals called Mitchell Bay, where we proceeded to drift down to a small co. We were drifting 90 feet from shore when I proceeded to arrange our bait and tackle to start fishing and hoping for better luck. The shoreline backs up to the Manastee National Forest and the sky was bright blue and the colors of the green and lush landscape was relaxing and inviting. While drifting along the shore, I had my head down arranging our tackle. Cindy was standing up gazing into the forest when she says, Rob, someone is throwing rocks at our boat.
I looked up to the shore and saw nothing. I told Cindy was probably just some fish jumping and that gave me a sense of urgency to get my line into the water. Again, she says, Rob, somebody is tossing rocks at us. I look up for a second time and I'm sure Cindy that nobody's there and to please allow me to finish with her gear and I would join her in a few seconds. Now, for whatever reason, I happened to glance up into the sky and see an object falling and splash about four to five feet in front of the boat. It was indeed a rock about the size of a baseball. As I motion towards Cindy to apologize for not believing her, she's gazing into the shoreline again approximately 90 feet away and suddenly, from head to toe, all the colors seemed to drain out over. It was an early summer and Charlotte had a nice tan, although you could not tell about looking at her in this particular instance. I look over to the shore to see what has caught her attention and I see why she lost her color. Standing right to the edge of the tree line was at least a nine-foot tall sask watch
instead of its arms enhanced to its side and had long reddish brown hair. The arms seemed to reach down past its knees. The creature was covered in hair with the exception of lightest gray skin on both its chest and face. In describing the face, it occurred to be wrinkled and looked like a human being, but possibly a human being who was suffering from Down syndrome. Amazing at what I'd been witnessing the encounter grew even more terrifying. The arms that had flanked the creature's side now rose and paralleled the shoreline. The jaw of the creature dropped a good six or seven inches down from the mouth, exposing two canine-type eye teeth at the top of the mouth and two much narrower sharp teeth tucked much closer together. With the jaw dropped, the size of the mouth extended from ear to ear and was so big that you could fit a bowling ball right inside of it. It kind of reminded me of that game Pac-Man from the early 80s. The absolute fright that I'd been enduring did not end here though. The beast now rolled its eyes back, turning them black
and the skin grew tight and this thing meant a more facized into what today I've really described as a demon. We're not done. From inside its body, seemed to come from the depths of its lungs as a long and violent scream. A guttural grunt and yell all amplified in unison. I felt a shockwave come from across the water from this creature. I stumbled back and step while Cindy was driven directly off the boat into the water of Lake Mitchell. I tried to move to my right, but now I was paralyzed and my vision seemed to look through what I described as a filter. The beautiful blue of the sky, the green tree line and even the reddish-ground color of this entity now appeared to be black and white and time seemed to have stopped. I knew in my mind that I had to get Cindy back into the boat. I shook my head several times and finally broke free of my paralyzed state. I rushed to the end of the boat and pulled Cindy back up into the vessel. A feeling of dread took over my body and now upon getting Cindy, I looked back to the shoreline and this creature's gone.
Now, not knowing where it was, I turned the boat around and raced all the way across both Lake Mitchell and through Lake Cadillac to the area where I'd had the boat darked. Shaken by this encounter, Cindy and I said no words until we found the bar close by where we'd docked the boat. We settled into a far corner in the back of the bar and sat in silence until we ordered our drinks. Cindy, a non-drinker, even ordered a shot of Jack Daniels and a bottle of Bud Light. I told the barkeeper that I would have the same but to make it a double. When we got our drinks, Cindy still trembling asked, honey, what in the hell was that? I replied, I do not know. She didn't ask. Do you think it was that big-foot creature? I replied, yep, I think it was. Up until this day, I still do not know what we encountered. However, my life has been dedicated to finding out what it was. You see, it's become personal for me. Exactly two months and three days after this encounter on August 18th, 2018, Cindy passed away.
This story is dedicated to her. Thank you, signed BMR. Next, we have the Okie-Fenokie Swamp in Southern Georgia. The earliest of big-foot encounters has been dated way back to the 1800s, more specifically, 1829, when a group of men making their way through this dense swamp land in search of a place to settle down and spread some roots. Upon dredging through the swamp, these settlers came across a tribe or a very mysterious group of indigenous people. While traveling through these parts, small group of men had become lost in the swamp lands for days. These men were rescued by a group of beautiful women. The group of women had warned these settlers that it would be their best interest if they would leave this land at once. The women told them tales of gigantic, fearful men that roamed the swamp with warlike and menacing intentions. This warning went on without concern and the group stayed in the Okie-Fenokie. Not long thereafter, a group of men left their camp to go hunting. In the distance, what could only be described as the gigantic monster was seen running
towards the band of men. It was described as having strides over six feet in length and moving with tremendous speed and agility. The beast gained rapidly upon the men and proceeded to fire their rifles directly at the creature. This was to no avail, though, as the monster ripped apart and killed at least five men. Finally, after several more shots into the beast by the remaining survivors, the big-foot-type creature toppled over an agony. Reluctantly, the men leaned over and measured the creature to be over 13 feet tall from the top of its head to the bottom of its feet. With the being, rising and howling in pain, remaining men left the terrain hopes that it would die. This is perhaps the very earliest encounter of the big-foot legend. And lastly, this story comes from the Josephine State Park. The Ryder States, it was early morning, right around 7 a.m., in October of 22. The day was fogging overcast, the rain was just letting up and it was still dark outside. I took my four-wheeler just to the outside of the trail to proceed on my mile or so walk upon the ATV pathway.
I was walking gently upon the trail so it's not to ward off or smoke any deer that may have been grazing in that area. Then I stopped and directly in front of me about 20 yards away and animal was upright and moving directly towards me. I knew in my heart that this was not a bear. Sure, bears are known to get upon their back legs to walk awkwardly for a few steps, but not at this pace and certainly not with this agility. When I was finally able to get a look at this creature, it had to stand at least seven feet tall with muscles rippling from well-defined biceps. It looked at me curiously as if to say, what are you doing here? It gave out a loud, almost disgusting grunt and walked off down the trail into the train line. I immediately turned back down the trail, nothing my four-wheeler and went home. For reluctant to say, I believe I happened upon a big foot in Oregon. Well folks, there you have it. What do you think of these strange encounters with this big foot type creature? I look forward to your comments, but please keep it friendly and respectful.
Until we meet again, be good to yourselves and each other. Stay safe out there. As for me, I'll see you a little further down the trail. Hope I don't run into a big foot. I'm Steve Stockton and I'll talk to you next time. Tell your animals I said hi. Tyler Reddick here from 2311 Racing. Victory Lane? Yeah, it's even better with Chamba by my side.
