A serenitya judge delivered a swift, guilty verdict against truck driver and manual dangi-ma in a major drug bust at the Bluewater Bridge. The 32-year-old from Atoba Koch was found guilty of importing drugs and possessing them for trafficking. His co-driver, 35-year-old trainee Reinhard Ousu Apea from Ottawa, was cleared of both charges. The bus happened on July 8, 2023, around 12.30 pm, when border officers searched their trailer and found 50 bricks. Of heroin, and 40 bricks of cocaine hidden in duffel bags among women's clothing. The two-week judge-alone trial wrapped up last month at the testimony from 10 Crown Witnesses. The big issue was whether the drivers knew about the cargo or were willfully blind to it. A similar case last year led to an 11-year sentence for another trucker caught with cocaine at the same bridge. The judge pointed to the trailer's unsealed status during travel as suspicious, with no good reason for it, given dangi-ma's experience crossing the border 39 times in two years.
He also saw a photo on dangi-maimus phone as evidence of knowledge ruling out any blind courier claim. Dangi-ma remains on bail awaiting sentencing later this year, where prosecutors planned to push for a hefty term, underscoring ongoing efforts to. Titan's security at Keyboarder Crossings.
