We were all on the shark Zoom call. He does every Thursday after practice getting you ready for the game a little more than 48 hours out as when Sarkey met with the media to talk about the game and CJ, the big news is Sarkey says Trevor Goosby is good to go. Now before we discuss this, let's hear from Sarkey was asked what assuming he is good

3:05to go? What is the balance between making sure he's 100% good to go for the Ohio State game or getting him some action in the opener? We'll get into the two sharks response after we hear his comment. We were just basing it off of his health. It wasn't about who we were playing when we were playing. It was about him getting back out to practice. I thought he had a really good practice on Monday. We increased his workload on Tuesday. He had a really good practice Tuesday. He came back good. We increased his workload that Wednesday. He looked good again. We increased his workload even more today. He looked good again. He's been building throughout the week. I thought he's been playing with a really good pad level, a good physicality. I think that he needs to play football. Lime and are really the most important ones that they need that physicality. We have to monitor probably the conditioning more than anything under the conditions that we're going to be playing in Saturday with the heat. That's something that we'll be watching just so that he's not getting fatigued and not

4:08playing to his capability. I do think Andre has had a great camp and Andre deserves his opportunities to play as well. CJ, let's assume Trevor Gooseby is good to go. This is one of those calls where it's almost damned if you do damned if you don't. I understand where Sark is coming from. It's hard to simulate physicality for offensive linemen unless you actually do it. CJ, you've got to think about play the long game here and think about it maybe a 16-17 game season. What are your take on whether Trevor Gooseby should play or not on Saturday? Look, first and foremost, it's fantastic to hear that he's in this position to be good to go. Whether he plays every single snap, whether he plays the first series, the first quarter, first half, regardless to get him in a position to play football on Saturday, I think is encouraged. This was something that we heard from Sark and we've heard from sources behind the scenes. Texas earlier in the week didn't test him a lot. The returns came back from Trevor about his knee saying, hey, I feel like I can do more

5:09in that workload increasing. Well now we've gotten to a point where Thursday morning, he's doing enough to be in consideration to play and play quite a bit according to Steve Sarkisio. Now will he, Jeff? That's where to me, I say it's not worth the risk. I don't think a long-term knee injury and whether it's re-aggravated, whether it's just something that lingers is worth playing against Texas State, especially with Ohio State. I mean, I still look ahead the week four and it's Tennessee when you can really start to hone in on SEC play in the long haul for Texas and Goosby. Look, this is a guy that has first overall left tackle aspirations ahead. He's not going to rush his way back on the field and Texas knows that, Trevor knows that. Again, to hear that this is a possibility, I think is very much a possibility. Hank, I do think it's interesting too. I don't want to put words in Sark's mouth, but he made it sound like we will see in some way, shape, perform Andre Kojo at left tackle on Saturday.

6:11Yeah. And he talked about Andre Kojo having a good fall camp and in the fact that he's earned that position or that opportunity to go out and play. So yeah, it'll just kind of be based off the field, how comfortable Goosby is. Obviously, we know Kojo's ready to go, but obviously it can be hot. I'm saddened. Maybe not as hot as it could have been with the tropical storm having rolled in, but Kojo's going to absolutely play. He's earned that right. And it'll be good in terms of having him available. Should there be a situation that arises later in the season where he needs to step in again, similar to how Trevor Goosby got his first action at Texas stepping in for Kelvin Banks? So yeah, we'll see Andre Kojo and Sark did kind of harp on the fact that he hasn't earned that right to play it. All right. So the next clip we'll hear from Sark. Hank, you actually asked this question. You asked it about Zena Moselow. The Sark threw in Lance Jackson talking about depth at the edge spot, opposite Collins Simmons. And in a game where you're facing a legitimate dual threat quarterback in Brad Jackson at Texas State, all those things we talk about, keep him in the pocket, rush lane integrity,

7:15all that fun stuff. The edge group has a big role to play in it. But I thought it was really interesting. Hank, even though you asked about Zena, Sark talking about the depth at that edge spot. One thing about Zena that has always been true is how hard he plays the game. He's always been a guy, you know, and he was even down with us early in his career on scout team. He would play hard and he was, you know, I've always appreciated that about him. I think where he's grown is that a he's physically grown and developed, but two, like him understanding how to play and when it's time to cut it loose, when it's time to anchor in a gap, you know, and that's maturity. I think that he's grown and become a very mature leader on the team. He's still got a nasty street tune, which we love, right? You want that when you're a defensive end, defensive lineman type, but he plays the game hard and he plays relentless. And I think that combination of he and Lance, both those guys play the same way. And so to have those two guys at that spot, man, that's phenomenal depth force at that

8:19end position. CJ, we reported this a couple of weeks ago in the camp where it felt like based on the workload they were getting and how the staff was handling them. It almost felt like Lance Jackson, Zena Moselow, or co-starters at that edge spot. And based on Sark's answer to Hank's question, that sounds pretty accurate. It sounds like a pretty good picture of where things are at that edge spot. Yeah, I thought it was a great question, but Hank, because Zena Moselow for, you know, all that it's worth on the defense and I guess this entire roster doesn't get talked about a lot, right? And especially at the edge position, yes, Colin grabs all the headlines, but just like we hear about some of the young talent, you know, a lot of the focus then goes to Lance Jackson, the breakout year that he's expected to have. Well, Zena Moselow has, I don't want to say, fend it off or battled because I do think that both of these guys are going to play a lot, a lot of snaps this year. But boy, he's made a tough, a difficult decision for this staff to really figure out who's

9:20one A and one B opposite of Colin Simmons. And that's encouraging, right? That is the type of competition in practice that you hope to see to drive development, to drive each other to be the best that they can be. So Hank, phenomenal question. And again, it's encouraging to hear that Sark looks at that edge position and say, hey, I really like what we have brewing right now. And especially considering some of the returns of Richard Wesley already this offseason. That position might be in really good hands moving forward into the future as well. 13:30half, whether it's Lance Jackson, Zeno Mozolo, getting really down into that interior and lined up. The guy like my Rantarls, Josiah Sharma, Hank, Texas fans, you'll need your program on Saturday to keep track of all the guys coming into the game. Absolutely. I mean, just going back to that edge conversation, you got to imagine the Allen Clarks, just like a kid in the candy shop right now with the talent he has. And with Zeno, with Lance, that bigger end and a Will Must Champ defense that can give you into your past rush, that can give you different looks to try to throw off a guy like Brad Jackson. I know Sark mentioned today. Two of the best three things he does is the fact that he can have these design KB runs, and then he can improvise and scramble and get outside the pocket and to have that maturity have that depth there at that critical position to contain Brad Jackson. 14:31So I think they're in good hands depth wise and certainly for a game that conditioning is going to show up with the weather that we're going to see on Saturday afternoon. All right, got a couple more things to cover from the Sark Zoom call. 16:40new Sheels in Cedar Park. All right. A couple more things to get to from the Sargzaum called CJ. I know you wanted to talk a little juice cryer. He will be wearing the green dot for communication purposes on defense. It's a big game for him. CJ heard a lot of good things, really nothing but good things since he got into the program. But I've got a feeling from a coverage standpoint. If you're going to go path at least resistance against the Texas defense, I wouldn't be surprised CJ and GJ kidding that Texas state offense targeted juice cryer in coverage. So really big game for him in his first game as long. Yeah, going to be a good test. Of course, we've talked about the 2000 yard receivers that Texas state possesses. Jeff, they use them quite a bit out of the slot. Each one about a third of their snaps come from the slot position. We've also talked about the running scrambling ability from Brad Jackson. The linebackers in this game, you can have the nickel, you can have safety to this. That middle of the field, that second and third level for Texas, he's going to be tested

17:41and juice cryer of course having the green dot responsibilities is going to have to be the main communicate to get everybody aligned and on the same page defensively pre snap. Now Sarg did say that he is a phenomenal communicator. And that is with guys around him on the field pre snap, but also with the coaches. Right, you come off the field. What did you see that rapport with Will Mustcamp is something that has already started to show on during scrimmages fall camp back to the spring. Sarg said that cryer understands the assignments, the scheme, the responsibilities of his linebackers and other positions on the field, maybe as well as anybody else that Texas has right now on its defense. And to be that green dot where I think is really, really encouraging to know that, hey, he is very intellectual, but also a phenomenal communicator because those are the two pre wrecks, I would say to finding that main green dot where. Hank, we talked about depth and I thought it was really interesting. Sarg talking about special teams, a little bit of a different approach than they take it.

18:44And we talked about, hey, you want to try to develop depth. How do you do that when you're playing a schedule where there's not kind of that gimme game where you can plan on getting guys into the game? Hank, it sounds like this is one way to do it is divvying up the responsibilities on special teams. Yeah, the question was, you know, are you going to get the freshmen, the transfers involved on special teams? And he essentially said we're going to disperse the players more so than maybe they would have in the past and not just focus on select groups that are going to play special teams. And so he's kind of started to list off examples and you start to turn up a little bit. Michael Misonis, I know he talked about on kickoff return and field goal protection. And again, you know, we're not sure if this is what's going to be kind of try to have that on Saturday. But it is interesting to hear the different combos they have. He talked about, you know, I would imagine what a kick returner is worse nightmares and Rahim Biles on kickoff coverage. Him flying down the field. Holly Wood's mother's Ryan Nibblet on kickoff return as well a return game.

19:46So it was interesting to see, but yeah, it sounds like we're going to see a lot of first year Texas players, at least if they're not contributing on, you know, offense defense, at least contributing on special teams on Saturday. All right. One more thing we've got to mention now, this was not discussed on the Sarger Zoom call specifically, but Texas did send this out almost immediately after the call was over. There's been a lot of confusion. Hey, with Michigan moving some things around as Texas still playing Michigan in 2027. Yes, Texas is playing Michigan in 2027. But with the new NCAA ruling, this is going to move everything up to zero a week. Everybody's going to play on zero a week. Here is your 2027 non conference schedule August 28th. Mark your calendar. That will be Texas hosting new Mexico State. Michigan will come to town on September 4th. And then non conference play wraps up on Saturday, September 11th against you, Tepp. And then Texas will be into SEC play after that in 2027. And your 2028 opener. Okay, she need to get your hotels now and play ahead.

20:46Louisiana Tech on August 26th, 2028. So a little zero week adjustment. And yes, Michigan is still on the schedule for 2027. Interesting. Guys. No, no, no, no. They mentioned on a 2028 schedule.
