On Tuesday, folks from the trans community in Kansas City came together for Trans Day of Visibility. The trans women of color, collective put it on at Spirit of Hope, Metropolitan Community Church on Wyandotte Street. More than 30 organizations showed up with resources on housing, healthcare, legal aid, and community support. It was all about celebrating presence while building real connections. The event shifted from just remembering losses to straight-up visibility and resistance. Organizers wanted one spot where people could grab info fast, no more hunting alone through tough systems. Tables filled the room, sparking talks between strangers who felt like family quick. Laughter makes with serious chats amid national tensions. Attendees lit up the place from first timers discovering local services to old friends reconnecting. Housing stood out as the biggest worry. Looking ahead, they're launching DD's house on June 15th, a transitional home for trans and non-binary folks, especially black and brown trans. Women facing housing crises.
