Train Door Mishap at Ealing Broadway: Passenger Dragged, Injured

0:00On March 5th, a passenger on the Elizabeth Line got dragged about 12 meters along the platform at Ealing Broadway Station when a train door closed. On their hand, this happened shortly after midnight on November 24th, 2024, as a westbound service was about to leave. Another passenger and a railway staff member quickly pulled the person to safety. Officials believed they suffered only a minor injury, though they'd been hard to reach since. The rail accident investigation branch found the train driver closed the doors too soon, while people were still getting on and off. The door sensors missed the trapped hand, and the driver didn't realize before moving the train. Investigators pointed out that safety steps at the station weren't working well, partly due to network rails giving a full-risk check after moving.
