One investigator, Mandy, got a midnight call threatening to kill her and burn her house, leading to her car being rammed twice and forcing her family to relocate after two years of terror. A survey by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute shows 96% of teams now tackled this high street crime up over the past decade, with more than 70% of officers facing direct threats or violence. Gangs operate everywhere, from big cities to small towns like Great Yarmouth and Villages, linking to half the mini-marts and vape shops in some. New data maps these gangs nationwide, and the CTSI calls it the top threat to their work, pushing for more powers to shut rogue shops longer and, better training. The government launched a task force with 10 million pounds yearly for 120 new apprentices, plus over 3,000 inspections and, nearly 1,000 arrests since March.
