Topic: We're Off to the Tradeshow!
About this episode
In this episode, America's Inventor Lady, Rita Crompton, and her co-host the Cajun Contractor, Michael King, discuss "Ready! Set! Go! Las Vegas Here We Come!" with Rita's guests.
In the show's first segment, Rita and Michael discuss trade shows in general, and the ASD Market Week show, in particular. Rita will be attending the show with her clients, March 9th through Marach 12th of this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada..
In the the second segment, the co-hosts are joined by inventor Derry Griffin, a successful contractor with more than 25 years hands-on experience in all aspects of the construction business, who is the inventor of a variety of products for the painter's most-cherished friend, the caulking gun. Over the years Griffin has realized that there is a lack of good products supporting contractors’ during the basic construction process. Since necessity is the mother of invention, he has created and implemented many items that facilitate more efficient and effective working methods promoting solid, quality handiwork, which ultimately increases job profitability. His goal is to alleviate basic frustrations all contractors experience by sharing his knowledge and products.
In the third segment, Rita's guest, Tom Butler, the inventor of the Next Level picture frame, shares the genesis of his product. As Tom explains: "All my life I've been a problem solver. That brings me to the place I'm at today, I started my venture in getting a patent for my self-leveling picture frame after seeing dangling family pictures on my mother’s walls. I thought there has to be a way to keep pictures level, so after some trial and error, I came up with using a water bladder in the back of the picture frame using that water weight for leveling. Water will always seek to level itself, thus making the picture frame level." Tom will be attended the ASD Market Week show with Rita because he's finally ready to begin the marketing for his product.
Rita's last guest, Don Skaggs, is the President of the Inventor's Network KY, a nonprofit that helps inventors through education and support services. During their discussion, Rita and Don share their vast experiences with trade shows and how to approach prospects and people when attending.
