Tkachuk's Hat Trick Lifts Panthers Over Red Wings

Matthew Tikachuk notched his first hat trick of the season, his 6th in the NHL overall. While Sergei Burbrowski stopped 28 shots in Ned, Tikachuk opened the scoring in the first period with a snapshot from the slot, then tipped in a goal early in the third to take a 2-1 lead. He sealed it with an empty netter late in the game. The win helps Florida, now 31 wins, 29 losses, and 3 overtime losses after dropping nine of their last 11 games. They finish a road trip with one win in four tries. For Detroit, at 35 wins, 21 losses, and 7 overtime losses, it marks their 7th loss in 10 games. Alex to Brinket scored their lone goal on a power play deflection, but Captain Dylan Larkin left midway through the third after tweaking his right knee, in a fall.
