Tipping Habits Remain Steady in US, Despite Complaints

A new report from Toast shows tipping rates barely moved in the fourth quarter of last year, and they stayed flat over the past seven years. Diving into the states, Delaware leads the pack as the most generous overall and at full service spots. They even rank third for quick service eats, trailing only West Virginia and Wyoming. On the flip side, California trails far behind, dipping under 18% overall. The only state besides Washington to do so. They rank last at full service restaurants too, while New Jersey hits bottom for quick service. Full service tipping hovers right around 19.2%, never dropping below 19.1 or topping 19.8 cents, early 2018. Quick service is at its lowest in that time, but unchanged for over a year now.
