Obviously, there's performance overall. You know what? Let's start with the positives. Right. What do you want to talk about? Yeah, I mean, but you know, this week wasn't just one game. First off. Yes, sir. Since we've been on the air, there's been four and the Nix have gone three and one. So let's talk about the positives overall before we talk about the current tyranny that we have in the NBA, right? Let's talk about the positives that you've seen Sean throughout this three and one mini campaign. Before you start, did you tweet? Oh, I think it tweeted already double check. Just make it true. Okay, positives. I mean, look, this team as maddening as maddening as they are, like they have one, I think going into last

3:24night, they'd won since MLK, since the MLK day massacre, I think they'd won 14 of 18. They have, I'm going to pull up these games now. Yeah, since, yeah, since the, since that massacre, they have, yeah, they have to believe they won 14 of 18. Most recently, you know, obviously, beat the spurs on Sunday, uh, beat the spur of Sunday at mass square garden, which apparently is because apparently the San Antonio Spurs had went on a bender the night before and showed up, and that's why they lost because it was a new game. It was a 1 p.m. game in New York City, not because the nicks aren't good, but you know, yeah. We saw Wembee pictures of Wembee in the snow, and apparently that he was playing in the devil's dandruff. So that's why they were able to get their cheeks clapped and not score 90 points. I have to score 19 in the first quarter, or something like in the first six minutes of the game. Yeah, but I mean, the nicks have, listen, yeah, when that meet, when that players only meeting happened.

4:29It wasn't a player's meeting. It was a collection of characters. All right, honestly, it was a player's only meeting. I don't care what Josh Hart says. It was a player's only meeting. You know what I'm dragging one knows it. No, I'm fine. I'm dragging it there. 5:31bro, I had to add to that. I see you like this. If I door a lot, you get to since that game, the nicks are third in that rating in NBA. According to our friends from cleaning the glass offensively, they are fourth in the league at 118 point, point four points per 100 possessions. And defensively, they are first. They are the best team in the league since MLK day defensively. And last night, one deposit I took away from last night was, how often do we say if this team's not hitting threes, they let that determine how they played the rest of the game. They let that determine their effort. They let that determine their intensity. They let that determine their energy. I did not happen last night because they wanted that game. They wanted that game. Mike Brown wanted that game. That was clearly evident in the technical foul that he got. The amount of minutes he played his guys last night. The way he managed to manage the minutes of night before against who did play the night before? Toronto. Toronto. They wanted that game and they were up for it.

6:39Even though they had 40 points at halftime, they were clearly up for it. This is why I can't quit this team. This is why I think this team's a championship this is why when people talk about they're going on the second round. I want to hit none of that. I don't. The team is good enough. The team is good enough. The team when they lock in can beat anyone in the league. Period. End the story. I agree with you, bro. I think there were a lot of positives to take from that game. My main take was the defense is real. The defense is real. You gave the stats already of where they are. I think right now they're in a virtual tie with Boston for seventh in defense. So right now they're one of those top 10 offense and defense teams right now. Since February 1st, I believe that they're third. So even going back to MLK, when you expand the sample size, they've been first in the league. And this is with their

7:43offense, not clicking like it usually is. But their offensive rating is going down, but their defensive rating has shot up. This was a team that was in a class with the New Orleans Pelicans for being bottom 10 in rim defense and three point defense. And they completely turned it around. And I do think while some things schematically did change, I think they finally flipped this invisible switch that they say they don't flip, but it's evident that you flipped it. Something clicked, whether it's total buy-in, whether it's applied, whether it's the fact that certain personnel are playing more and rotations and stuff have changed, they found it. They found whatever it is. I think it's important that they found it with Mitchell Robinson not playing as much and doesn't play the second game of back-to-back. Found it with Duce McBride having a

8:44sports hernia injury and working his way back. So I think that's highly important, especially when when you get Duce back at Mitch's playing every game, I only see it going up from there. So I think positively the defense, the fight as you brought it in before. And I think the real identity is starting to form. And if you told me this team would form an identity on the defensive end, I would have thought you were on troops. And I think Benji made a great, he tweeted a great point when he said that he doesn't know if it's quantifiable, but it feels like when the nicks are down in, if the nicks are down in like the final two minutes, they find a way to close the gap and give themselves a chance to win. And I said to him, I feel like this is the ghost of the 2324 nicks

9:47arising in this current team. That team that was comprised, old dog. Old dog. You look in their ribcage and you see a kennel, old dog, where you had to whoop them. That team rarely got blown out. They lost, but that team rarely got smacked. And if they got smacked, it's because they were taken out and it was mercifully ended. Or the team just crumbled right from from injury. So I think they're slowly rounding into an identity. And I think that identity is, do your job. Do your job. Do your job and buy into your role. I said earlier, I said during this era, the NBA Cup Championship, that this is a team that hates to lose. That's what I thought their identity was. And then to a nine happened and I threw my hands up.

10:48But when when McCale hit that three to put them up three at the end of the third, you saw how these guys reacted. They wanted that game. Bad. Bad. I saw the bloodlust in their eyes that I see any time the Detroit Pistons see the New York Knicks or the other side of the court. That type, like that's the type of desire to conquer your opponent that I saw in their eyes. Now, if they can turn that on for the other 29 teams, consistently, I think you got something here. But if that's the team and that's their identity, I don't think Nick's fans need to worry too much about what's going to go down in the postseason. You know, I go back to the players only beating, which I'm going to call it that I don't care. And the quote that emerged from Ramona Shelburn, because she was the one that tweeted that

So, let me ask you this, because clearly, like I believe, because you said if they could turn off for the other 29 teams, well, they don't have to play the other 29 team. They only got to play, they have just, they have 19 games left. And so they only got to play at most 19 teams. I know there's a conference in there. So, but for the league or their conference or the playoff teams, I fitted in like that. Yeah. So, like I'm not concerned about them turning up into playoffs. Like, I'm not, I'm not, I don't.

14:03concerned about this team. And last night actually helped me be less, well, I am concerned. But that's about one thing in particular, but that can be amended. Let's get to the fourth just the last night. All right, let's do it. Look, far be it from me. Actually, you know me, I don't look at, I do not look at officiating. I will, I will notice officiating good and bad. I will notice it. But I'm like, it won't lose a game. I'm not looking at officiating first. I'm looking at, I'm looking at the factors that we can control. So I'm looking at how we shot. Do we rebound? Did we take care of the ball? You know, did we turn the ball over? Were we sharing the ball? Was there movement? Was this stagnant? I'm looking at, I'm looking at those things. But last night, and I was at the game last night. And going into it, we all knew we were prepared for foolishness because we all know that the

15:12Chris Finch who lost it a few weeks ago, we all know what's going on. And when that non-charge call was called, what was not made? And then it was a time out, well, not a time out, but they didn't call, there was a thing with the turnover. And then obviously Mike Brown loses stuff, gets in. When they showed that replay, and listen, shout out to the video operatives in Messenger Garden because he knew what videos to play to get that crowd riled up. But when he played that video and he played, they played that non-charge call repeatedly. This is my fourth year as a Nick Sienzig holder. I've never heard booze that loud in my life in that building. Like it was like the booing was however, however loud you thought it was out of on TV, it was 10 times worse than that building. And the booing kind of said, like, yo, you ain't

16:16going to come in here and punk us with this foolishness. Like if the crowd had the ability, the bully the refs into not into calling it down the middle, they were going to try to do that. They were not here. They were not here for it. And I don't blame them. And I was one of them. And it was a pivotal, it was a pivotal moment of the game. Like don't talk to you about not executing in the last two minutes. Because guess what? If that file was called, shake goes out of Xander does not play for, he sits for the rest of the half. And I don't think the nicks are down 10 and half time in a game they lost by three and shake goes out of Xander sits for the rest of the half. Like I'm a type of person that a foul is a foul in minute one, in minute 10, in minute 20, in minute 30, in minute 40. And I was ready to walk away from this conversation until the chat and SGA avis from North Korea city were flooding my dimensions and you had a bunch of trolls trying to justify what's going on with multiple what about isms and the like. To say to try to what about ism about Brunson, when you can look at the analytics and you can see all the stuff y'all claim he does, it's clearly not reflecting in real life. That's first off, but even before that, this was the game where you don't look at the box score to make the point that okay,

I saw former journalist turned state and other folks tried to get to them try to claim that because she only took seven free throws, what Mike Brown said was moot. If you watched the game, you would get the context that people are trying to explain to you about how poor officiating change the course of what was a fantastic game given the circumstances. Both these teams were on the second game of a back-to-back and I will look the other way if you tell me Shay and I heart and Caruso rested in Chicago. That doesn't fit my narrative. So I'm going to look the other way on that, but still a majority of their team played the night before and these guys rested. They have to walk up that damn ramp. You know, Jay dub was like, hey, man, update the reader. I'm like, Jay, it's it's competitive. You're not dog. You're not even

20:26playing like right, right, right. I know he was like, yo, damn, can I take a scoot up and to be fair, that is a steep walk, but it's steep for a reason. Y'all are professional athletes. Don't be huffing and puffing. So the context of how the game was officiated, there was about a nine point swing in just the calls that I could think of that not only went against the nicks that agreed justly went against the nicks and that's my point. There were some calls on both sides where I was like, ooh, these refs are just off tonight. Like I swore Kat had it up and down before that foul on shit. And they didn't call it. So I was like, okay, these refs might just be off, but they were more off against the nicks than they were against the thunder. The SGA off non call offensive foul, which people overlook what would the trolls or whoever,

21:29they're overlooking the complete impact of the no call. He scored a basket after that no call because everybody stopped, except for him and credit to him, except for him, he kept going. Everybody else stopped because it was clearly an offensive foul. Then Mike Brown gets a tech. He would not have gotten that tech if the non call happened. If the non call didn't happen, he doesn't get the tech. So that's three points. I don't know what the refs were looking at when Aaron Wiggins did the tap the ball when it was in the cylinder. Like clear as day, he was going for a tip dunk hits the ball. And then when you're watching it, the ball changes trajectory inside the hoop when he touches the rim, when he touches the rim, this isn't fever. They gave it, they didn't take that one away. That's five points. The OG offensive foul. Let's get to it. Let's get to it. But I'm going to put, I'm going to put that one was another

22:36two points and potentially three, but OG, I'm going to just call it the two for now because it could be how I called the way the nicks were shooting. And then I'm sorry, that review on the, the Lou Dort knocking the ball out of bounds and they called a proximate foul on cat. Like come on, y'all. That was a nine point swing in a three point game. And as you said before, Sean, SGA sits for the rest of the half, the thunder do not build a 10 point lead. Chad had to go generational in that game in the first half for it to be even close. Before we get to the OG joint, yes, did you see the NBA refs explanation for the the Shay no call? Yes, I'm actually looking at it right now. And the explanation is that I'll read it. By rule, a defensive player must allow a moving player that is receiving a pass outside

23:37of the Lord defensive box. So the Lord defensive box is the space from right below the dotted circle at the top of the key from there to the baseline and the width of the, and the width of the is a little, it's a little bit wider than the pain. Yeah, it was a little bit wider than the pain. And up, so outside the Lord defensive box, an opportunity to avoid contact. The speed of the play will determine the amount of distance that opponent must allow. On this play, Brunson does not give Gilges Alexander an opportunity to avoid contact after receiving a pass outside of the LDB. And therefore Brunson is not in a legal guarding position. The referees will then judge if the contact affects the SQBR speed, quickness, balance, or rhythm of Gilges Alexander. If it does, this would be a blocking foul. And if it does not, then a no call would be appropriate.

24:37Fuck out of here, man. You mean to tell me that a player who gets into that position before the offensive player gets in the LDB, gets in the position, sits in that position, right? Has to perform an a thermodynamic advanced thermodynamic calculation in their head to determine how much space to give a player moving at game speed so that they can see enough space before legal contact could be made, which would, or even better, you have to calculate on the fly with this player moving at game speed, the amount of space that you can see to them so that you can draw a legal contact. Bang, bang, play, but you have to bullet time slow down the game so that you can legally take a charge. That sounds like a lot of explanation to say

25:44it's at our discretion. It's a roundabout way to say it's at our discretion. And you have an inscrutability gap between the way your fans interpret it, the practice of it, and that interpretation from the theory. Shout out to the person who posted the clip of OG getting that charge against pods in Golden State where he's running at full speed, somebody passes him the ball, they're above that LDB, whatever the blah, blah, blah, blah. He catches the ball, runs into pods, and they call a charge. And so you're telling me the same exact play, even probably worse. So you're telling me because he's not in that lower defensive box, that what is the rationale for that? Here's what I'll say.

I watched basketball, and I watched, well, five minutes and 53 seconds left in the fourth quarter, OJ and Nobi get the ball above the lower defensive box, drive. I'm looking at it right now. And the defender who they have escaped me, his left foot is clear Williams. Okay, camera choice. His left foot is clearly moving as OJ makes contact.

27:51It's clearly moving, but that wasn't a foul. Like I've watched basketball whole life. It's like if you're going to listen, far, listen, far be for me to be advocate for more charges, because this is the Mike Chachevsky duplicification of the rules where like 30 years ago, he taught, he taught players to just slide it under people as they're going to draw a charge calls. So unfortunately, we're here because of that. So thank you very much, Mike Chachevsky, but I've been watching basketball for the longest, and I've known that if you have the drug charge, you cannot be moving when you make, when the player makes contact with you and his left flag is moving and they called it. And in a game they lost by three, that took two points off the board with the opportunity for an and one, the opportunity for an and one. Another momentum breaking play. And just to talk about that, what you're saying about the feet moving, apparently in the rule book, it says the defender must get his body directly into the offensive players path and be at the spot prior to the upward motion to find as shoulder

28:57starting upward in order to draw the offensive foul. The defender may be allowed to firm up, move his feet and or turn slightly to better absorb the contact. Now my thing is, when you say they can move their feet, what is reasonable movement of that feet of their feet? What is reasonable movement, right? They don't have that codified. So once again, this is a judgment call, right? You mean to tell me, can rich locked in, while he's watching OG about to go up, slid his whole foot, his foot was out of position, he slid it into position, then he moves his left arm and turns his left arm into OG. And let's not forget OG tried to avoid him. He moved to the side.

30:01And that's, that's an offensive foul when SGA's is not. I'm sorry to your fans who have working vision, that does not look like the same play. And then you have apparently, okay, he has state sponsored media because you got these content creators who are coming out of the woodwork to try to cape for them. Like this is, this is absolutely crazy. Like basketball is supposed to make sense. If I got to do a regression model to prove to you that something is a true law, then maybe it needs to be simplified. Basketball is an easy sport to watch. And you can, you can grasp complex movements and, and offenses and all of that, but the rules are the rules are the rules. This is starting to turn into what is a catch in the NFL. And it's a freaking charge. It's block or charge. It's block or charge. I don't understand how we are over complicating this.

31:03And don't even get me started on how there was an account that tried to say that the SGA hook on cat was not a hook. It was a clamp. So that's why he got called for the, fam, you really did the flirting versus harassment mean for fouls. What, what are we watching? What are we doing here? Mew. We watch Caron of the Times try, try that hook move every game. Get called for it. And you know what we say? We don't blend the refs. We say, hey, Carl, stop doing that. He was like, hey, maybe Josh should be in a starting line up. It will be good. You know, it'll be good. And he said, and I listen, that you have to consider how it affects the team. What have you? If when you make any decision, and he's right, you have to consider how it makes a team. I will say this, this team, I've been watching team 30 years. We have no titles. If we can't win a championship, because we are afraid of because of Eagles and agendas,

34:11I'm going to be beside myself. Mike, I'm here to win. I'm here to win. I don't care who has to come out of the starting line up. I don't care who has to go into it. I'm not going to, I'm not going to concentrate on Josh. I'm going to look at everybody, anyone, everyone. Eagles and agendas almost, Eagles and agendas is why this team won two and nine and blew a chance at the one seed. I'll be damned if we blow a chance at the title because of it. But you know, this player said you want to win. I guess we'll find out when push comes to shops in April and May, and knocking wood. June. So I saw some interesting commentary around this. When this whole starting lineup discussion started up and I saw some fans' responses and got some general themes. And there was one point that was made that I thought about and I said,

35:14yo, you know what? Yo, facts. We have heard this team in a variety of ways talk about sacrifice. Yes. And what it takes to win and everybody has to be bought into win. We've heard so much reporting about cat and OG. McCale went for eight mile in a post game with MSG and empty out his confessions about not probably not buying in and needed to get into a certain mindset. Why is that energy not kept for the entire team? Not just the guys who are easy to criticize. If what's best for business is a different starting lineup, then everyone needs to buy into the role

36:17that will best maximize the team. Because there's a thing I don't think that they understand that the New Yorkers, the real nicks fans, if you've been here 10 plus years, if you've been here 15 years, if you've been here 30 years, the chip is all that matters at this point. When John made his point about when in his classic this year's classic rant, it sees his classic rant. And he made the point about connectivity to the team. Do you feel connected? Do you feel like you like this team? I thought about it for a second. And I said, I like winning. All the next teams I love ain't win shit for me. The team I I quote unquote have the least likable connection to. Got some hardware. And you know what? I will still got I still I will have love for Jordan Clarkson. I have love for Tyler Colick. Because when it was something on the line,

37:17they showed up. Yes, they did. And all the people that are on that team, even my guy Madison Square got some. He was around, right? Like I will remember that squad because they left there with something. I don't this team could be full of mercenaries. They get the job done. Their names live forever. And we finally get an accomplishment that a lot of folks haven't seen in their lifetime. The title is all that matters. This ego shit don't matter. This scheme. Maddox shit don't matter. This come, come rotary. Doesn't matter connectivity. Doesn't matter. This city needs to be back on top of the basketball world for a variety of reasons. Enough is enough. It is time to step up. All of that got to go out the window. And if you ain't with it and you're not on you on this team

38:20and you not with that, you will quickly be forgotten. And wait for the next guy that will step up and take the challenge. But I hope dudes like Jose Alvarado are talking to these dudes about, yo, what it really means. They've got a legit New Yorker on the squad. I'm not going to try state area with this Apologies cat Apologies JV. I'm not going to try state area with this. They got a Brooklyn dude on this team who was a nicks fan coming up. He knows how heavy that jersey is. And he knows what the title will mean to the city. And he knows what will happen if you front on the team in any way. So I think they truly have to ask themselves, do I want to shine or do I want to win? And I think since the MLK game, they've decided

39:20they want to win for the most part. For the most part. And mind you, I'm not saying, because look, if I had certain positions, we're human. Demotions can look like a variety of things. And you should be fed up if you feel like you're better. I think team sports is a little bit different. Like we talk about the starting lineup, right? Here's where I think the nuance and the context, coalesce. I think that starting lineup is perfectly adequate for about 90% of the league to compete against about 90% of the league. The issue is the 10% of the league that it's inadequate. You will probably see in the playoffs or you have a great chance of seeing in the post season. So you got to ask yourself with all this data we've compiled with all the scenarios, the era of experimentation is here. What do we do with the results after all these experiments?

40:26It's time to implement. And that's why Mike Brown is here. Are you going to make tough decisions when you need to? Are you going to adjust before it's too late? Is there a reason to start out behind the April showing how we were going crazy last year? Because that starting lineup were given teams a head start every game. It felt like giving the good teams a head start. So now it's like you're trying to unlock a badge in 2k. Let me see if I can come back from 10 points in the down in the first quarter.
