locked exits and only one fully operational elevator. The disaster outraged the public and prompted officials to improve sweatshop working conditions. Surprising fact, factory owners Max Blank and Isaac Harris had previously experienced a series of suspicious factory fires and were known to have collected substantial insurance payouts. Although there is no credible evidence that they set the 1911 triangle shirt waste fire, critics noted they had resisted installing sprinkler systems and other modern safety measures prior to the disaster. Also on this day in history, in 1634, Maryland's first English settlers arrived. In 1947, musician Elton John was born. And in 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. led a march against the Vietnam War. That's all for today. Come back tomorrow to learn a little bit more

about the world around you, be kind to yourself and others and enjoy the rest of your day.
