Welcome everybody to the making awesome podcast. It's episode 254. Is that right? I think it's 254. I think I believe so, yeah. Yeah, we got a bunch going on. We weren't with you all last week. We're with you this week. And I guess the- I'm still dying. Yeah, because everyone who doesn't want to know that why we weren't here last week, I died. Court Ligma. Did you? Actually, you got the Ligma. That's fair. We all know about that, especially in the discord. Handle table high. It's $10 a year and higher, right? Oh, and of course the live chat isn't working on my phone. So live chat's not working on my computer. So I'm like, oh, I'll pull it up with my phone. Now live chat's not working on my phone either. Whatever, all good. We'll figure it out. But welcome everyone. We're gonna be talking about the Mimeini Factory, a acquiring thingiverse kind of what all that means,
ultimately, because we did a video on it a couple of weeks back. And yeah, there was a lot of controversy on that video. I was expecting for everyone to kind of feel the same way that I did, which is like, hooray, thingiverse isn't gonna suck anymore. Oh, I think I'm with the other people then. So fun. Oh, all right. I wish the video either. I haven't watched the video. I barely care about the date with the, I don't care about gone, gone cares about me. It's a, it's on one way love relationship. Love you, gone. And I haven't actually been keeping up to date with the sentiment of people. I do have my own thoughts on this. So it'll be really interesting to see where we differ from. Yeah. Now, before we get too deep into everything, don't forget to check out the sponsors, construct 3D, 3D musketeers, 3D Prima, and printed solid. Everyone is linked down below. If you wanna enter when some printed solid filament,
you are watching live, check it out in that pinned chat message. But yeah, I think the big thing here is gonna be, I mean, there's, so there's kind of like three major things we're gonna be talking about this episode, right? My manufacturer buying thingiverse, printed solid raising their prices, which is an interesting one. I've not heard of that, I would be either. And this five-axis printer that you and I both collectively agree is dumb. So yeah, and if you can move a little bit to your right, it'd be wonderful. Or just rotate yourself would be fine. I'll take it. So yeah, we actually got a chance to interview the chief marketing officer and chief executive officer now of Thingiverse. And so, that video's on the channel. If one of the mods wants to post it in the chat, please do.
But we got to interview them. And I see, I'm excited about this because for me, it's like, well, Thingiverse hasn't really had anything really done to it in like, five years, right? I've always viewed it more like a vault, ever since printables and bamboo labs like version of printables and things. It's a vault of the older building. There's a fourth news we can talk about. Thing's has removed one of the things everyone loved about Thing's. They're big search feature. Yeah. Wait, the search feature's gone? But that was like one of the best things. I'll explain it. I'll explain it. One of the best things. Get out. All right, I added that to our notes. I forgot about that one because it was like, we had no news about model repositories
that all the sudden we get two bombshell news is in one week. But the things one, I have some insider information. I'm not certain if I can share it. So I'll try to beat around the bush about it. But yeah, I actually fully support my many factory in this buyout. One, Ultimaker hadn't done a dime with it. The stratus is by the stratus is merger with Ultimaker, didn't do a damn thing with it either. And so far, so far, as of last I heard, every single developer that was with Thingiverse has stayed. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, yep. Thingiverse had developers? They did. I believe it actually had one of them on here.
James von Kessel, a while back. James is someone who's been in the industry for a minute. Call him an OG, if you wanted. I believe we had him on, we talked about a rack name, maybe. I mean, I'm still surprised Thingiverse has developers with how little anything's happened to it. Oh, yeah, and hold on, real quick. Canada, there's that for you. Chuck Hellebuck's son, Connor Hellebuck got gold for the US hockey team today. So it's fine. It's like the one time I can confidently give Canada the middle finger for the US. And hell, yeah, how proud of a dad is Chuck have to be right now, right? His son got a gold medal in the Olympics. That is really quite cool. Pretty cool. That is quite cool. Thank you, man. That was that out. Yeah, Ultimaker, like Palin Hood ride that.
We still love you, Canada. I know you don't like us. I don't blame you. Don't know anybody who likes them. This is just a friendly, you know, kind of a letter Kenny vibe, middle finger. You know what I'm feeling? You don't know what I'm feeling, Jacobs, you've never watched letter Kenny and you're missing out on what is quintessential North American history. Yeah, I still like how recently Instagram's been doing a load of AI fast and furious memes. Yes, you said so, to me, they were wonderful. And it's making me actually kind of start wanting to watch Fast and Furious. Come on, dude, we got to do it. I would love the fact that after all of these years, where you've been trying to maybe watch Fast and Furious, what pushed me over the edge was AI created content of just stuff. For those that don't know the meme, it's when it's from Tokyo Drift, so it's from the third movie. However, I believe it occurs somewhere between the first and the second in the timeline
of the movies, but it is when the not Brian O'Connor sees Han sitting by what was normally the veil side wide body RX-7 and that RX-7 has been replaced with other things. And that's, you know, so deep as I'm going to get on that. Some of them, but it gave me quite big chuckle. Tokyo Drift is a great movie. One of my favorites, and in theory, we're going to Tokyo later this year for Japan Rep Wrap Festival. Oh, yeah. So like, obviously, kind of have to go. And I was like, yeah, Han Solo was in Fast and Furious, Dream Swords said, Doug, talking your band from the chat. Delia, talking about fallen trips. Guess what's really annoyed me this month? So you know, all of the pain we went through
to try and getting a Chinese visa done on the quick. China and the UK have signed it. You can just go to China for 30 days with no visa requirement anymore. Thank you. I had sleepless nights getting my Chinese visa. Spent quite a lot of money to get it expedited. Which was really fun, did I? We'll point out. It's the principal. It's the principal that loads of money was spent on it. And they were just like, no, we're friends now. John, that says it doesn't, it hasn't taken effect. Well, your country's making me fill out a visa to go. Why? Oh, good, because you are a third world country after all. And it's like $20 US dollars to fill it out. I still have to do it. I have to use an app. I have to get an app to do it. Yeah, scan my face and all that. And it's like, well, here in the States, I wouldn't be OK with that, but it is the UK where they actually care about my privacy. So I'll take it. Angie Rogers with the $10 saying free pass for the free
past's China fund. Oh, hey, look, that just means we can go do more trips over to China. We have in theory some plans coming up, but I don't have full confirmation on any of them just yet. But I mean, look, good on them, right? A country that's been kind of adversarial to most countries is starting to handle some handouts and olive branch work. So I'll take it. And yes, I need to get the ETA. So it's the ETA visa for the UK. I do need to get that. So smurf is confirmed. We are going. And if you want, links already in the description for our just giving page for it. We are doing heat in the hot seat. It would have been smart if I had my bottles of pecs peppers hot sauce. But if you do want to get 15% off of pecs peppers hot sauce, you can check them out, pecspeppers.com. Use the code smurf25smrf26. Excuse me, smurf26 for 15% off over at pecs peppers.
And that is for everything in their store. So all the sauces that I am bringing are from pecs peppers. I am told quite a few of them are tasty. There is a dill pickle, jalapeno, a mango habanero. There's one called To the Moon, which is the spiciest one that he sent. And there is one more that I forget. It's their Pueblo ret. They're Pueblo ret. I'm going to be a little bitch about it. But I'm going to try every single one. Oh, hey, Steve feels dumped a bunch of memberships on us. Thank you very much, sir. RS makes, RC Eagle, Matt, Sure, Ivan. A name I won't say out loud, because it's going to trigger people's smart devices. 5231, Grumpy 3D, Ratlinx Gamer, Richard Great Wolf, Jack, trades, you're not going to get me all that one. That's great name, by the way. And Ressu32, all got ones. Thank you, Mr. Steve builds.
But yeah, we are going to be abusing me. And guess, it's very funny. Olaf over at Bontek, shout out Bontek. It's like, oh, yeah, I've got all this stuff planned. I'm like, you do know you're coming up, too, right? It's like, no, I said, I'm not letting you out on this. I tried Schussleroming for your all's charity. You're going to sit down, and you're going to talk to me, and you're going to be in the hot seat with me. He's like, oh, yeah, we're getting all this spice up. I said, that's going to suck for you, too. Don't forget. I need to get finished getting my smurf tickets. I haven't done it. Yeah, I booked my hotel. I don't know. Oh, well, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're press. I'll, I'll, I'll have that covered. Hey, yeah, you can call me impressed. In theory, we're even going to have some press clothing for the event, but I might have to ship it to you to get it
there in time, OK? We'll see if it gets done in time. How, what, how is, how is shipping it to me going to get that in time when you're coming to me? Because I leave a couple of days before the event. You don't. Yep, yep. So I guess you can check out some merch. Shop at 3DMuscleTears.com down below. But yeah, there's, there's, I wear around the house. I like the much. What should we set the goal for first smurf? It's so hot. Something tells me gut feel that whatever goal we set might not be high enough. So if I can, I'm going to bring my bottle of the, the last app. And I'm told that Bontek is bringing some really, really spicy sauce. I'm saying 5,000, 5,000, 5,000 GBP will get me to, to do that. I don't, it is a very good sauce, but it is dangerously hot.
So I, I, I think I saw it in an 855 pens. I am, I think five is reasonable. But yeah, check it out. There's also a raffle down below where the raffling off a Voron 2 serial zero, which is pretty cool. That's cool. But all right, Jacob, what is your opinion on this? My manufacturing and thing of Earth's thing. You're, you're, you're, you're on the opposite on this one. I am. I am quite concerned. Why? But that's because I view, think of us as a, a vault, not a active platform anymore. Help me out on what I feel it's a library. It is a literal definition of a library, not being added to, but has all of the legacy and archaeological documentation for the 3D printing industry. It's not going on. It was there as it grew, but are you sure? Yes. Because when somebody buys it, they, I'm sure,
now got full control. They could pay all things. They could hide things. They could do a things apparently and remove the search. And this is why my manufacturing did a town hall event for over two hours. That was a livestream where people were able to ask them questions live. And if they wanted to even jump on and ask them questions live, like via camera and microphone. OK, that's pretty cool. More people need to do that. But what did they say? What was the outcome? Well, first off, they also said that they would be more than happy to come on to our show if we wanted to. Hey, that'd be fun. So Reese and Romaine both said they'd be happy to come onto the show. So there's that. But the outcome was that they still don't know. They're not going to be paywalling it. They're trying to find some way other than the ads that
are currently on Thingiverse to somehow be able to afford to keep the platform online. And they have brought it under the sole crafted brand. That's already occurred. It is not they're not changing the name, but it's it is Thingiverse via sole crafted something like that, which means no AI. No AI period. There is no AI models are banned from Thingiverse as of this moment. So I think it's a great move. I kind of like the name sole crafted. It has a vibe to it, right? It does. But I'm worried now. If they don't have a plan and they bought it, why did they buy it? I think they wanted to see new life breath into it. So my many factory, what is my many factory, right? What do you know them for as a model repository? Resin printers. Exactly. So they are not a phenomenon printing website. They are a resin printing website similar to cults. But cults desperately needs that website to be redesigned.
So my perspective is that my many factory realized we've painted ourselves into a corner here, right? And we need something that is associated with our brand, that carries a lot of brand recognition. We could either start another competing brand in all of that, or we could look at acquiring one. And apparently they were able to acquire Thingiverse from Ultimaker and Stratuses for they have not disclosed the amount of money. But I'm told it was a well agreed to amount of money. Which I like. And it is 100%. They have acquired 100%. It is not like a cash and stock. It's not like, oh, you're only gonna get part of it. No, it is 100% of Thingiverse. So my interview with them was like an hour long, but we only took like 10 or 15 minutes of it for the video.
I even included, we cut it from the video for time, but like I've been on Thingiverse so long that my personal Gmail account was leaked during their during their big data breach that Thingiverse had years ago, I've been using Thingiverse longer than I've had companies, right? So like it's been that long. I look at it as this is only good for consumers, but a lot of consumers were like, you know, my many factories terrible. They do a bad job with what they do, you know, and do go look at the video and look at the comments under that video, they are like on both sides and to a point where the CEO from his personal YouTube account commented, I think I pinned that comment basically saying, please do not hold back. Give us all the feedback you have because the feedback makes us better. Interesting.
You know what? I can't fault them for doing what they're doing right now. But I understand and kind of reading the comments on the community, this is a very easy thing to fumble. It's very easy to fumble, right? And Thingiverse has kind of lost a lot of its, let's go with street cred, right? It's lost a lot of that street cred in the first place. Well, do you even know what Thingiverse was supposed to be for? No, but I know what I always used it as, which was the, I need a quick and lazy model. That somebody is designed to put up there. If I wanted high quality, I go to printables or I go to thangs. If I wanted like, oh, somebody must have made a cube to hold in it. And I cannot be asked to design it myself. I go to Thingiverse. Because Thingiverse doesn't have the ambiance of quality.
It was the fast and dirty website that from yesterday. So Thingiverse was never meant to be a 3D model website. Ever. From the beginning, it was supposed to be a place to share laser cut files. Because it was a maker bot thing. And back then, MakerBot was making laser cut printers. And they were fully open source. So you could go to there, download the laser cut files. So you'll find a ton of old school laser cut files, laser cutting files on Thingiverse. Because that's what it was originally for. When, when MakerBot got as popular as they got, they weren't going to limit Thingiverse. That would have been stupid. So it turned into more of a 3D model repository. Is that necessarily a good thing? I don't know. I mean, clearly it's worked out. And the fact that it still has the domain authority. That it has.
And it's had for decades now. It's kind of insane. It shows you how popular it was. Right. But yeah, I don't disagree with some of the comments that like, I don't really use my many factory personally because I don't really use our resin printers anymore. Like, I'm at a point where we might just be divesting from resin completely. Or certainly divesting quite a bit. So right now we have like 14 resin printers. I am considering divesting down to like two. And just limiting the options that we have. Well, it's, it is so laborious that we have to charge so much money for it that it doesn't make like, I had a guy call me that wanted to do some miniatures for his D&D campaign.
And he's like, yeah, I've got like 50 or 60 miniatures. I said, I'm going to be real with you. Just go buy your own resin printer. Just go buy your own resin printer because it is going to be such a pain for us to do it. And it's going to be very expensive. So just go buy it. And at a two or three hundred dollars cost. Complete side tangent. Do you cure your resin prints when you give them to customers? Of course. Other than the wash. Of course. And do you remove the support material for this? Yes. We do other. Okay. So I will say when I've started been doing this because I still do the resin printing side just as like a side hobby for myself. Whenever my friends ask me to print armies for them or D&D figures. I always give them the choice of the, I'll wash it straight off the machine. But they're uncured and with supports on. So they have to remove the supports and then leave it at the sun to cure. Right. Or if they want me to remove the supports and clean them and do everything with it. Then I'm not going to be charging cheap prices. I charge like two pounder model minimum.
Because it's just so labor intensive. And it's been all right. Half the people didn't want to do it after that because they were like, oh, well, the whole point of resin is it's cheaper. I'm like, I don't care anymore. It's not that it's cheaper. It's that you're getting custom models that you couldn't make any other way. If you wanted to do cheaper, buy your own damn resin printer. Fair. They cost 200 quid. Exactly. And so we won't, unless it's like a personal friend of mine, we will not give models to people that are not fully cured. Because it is, it is a, it is a, it's a liability. Right. If, let's say we didn't 100% get, you know, every drop of resin out of the inside of the part. And it drips onto their hand and they get a chemical burn. That's on us. Right. So I'd rather make sure it's squeaky clean and very well cured. But again, like we are shifting our focus away from some of the B2C work and moving heavily, more into B2B, B2G, B2E.
Yeah. So from a business perspective, resin is so laborious that if we don't charge a ton of money for it, it is functionally not worth the time to do it. And so for a lot of labor, for at least the past six months, we've turned down every resin job that we've gotten. Because yes, as Sam Basarou says, like it's not, we have a $250 minimum. I'm not even going to touch a resin printer for less than 250. I'm not doing it. Because it's not worth it to me. So that's my opinion on resin. Andrew Rogers has contrary to popular belief. Thingiverse does have a lot of quality content in amongst the junk. And there's quite a bit of FDM related content on my manufacturing fair. I don't disagree with that. However, the focus of those platforms, right, the focus of those platforms, you know, now again with printables,
maker world, things, things have changed quite a bit recently. And Thingiverse has been left in the dust. And that's why I'm like, okay, this is only good for Thingiverse. And if my manufacturing screws it up, then they're throwing their money out the window. They have to know better than this. Right? They have to. Look, and again, as I said in my interview with them, my words could age like milk. And if it does, it does. Right? I'm not again saying I was wrong. Hell, I said it last Friday. I said it this past Friday. I don't care about being wrong. I care about like making sure the community is getting what they want, you know? And fighting for the consumer here, rather than fighting for the big business. I know you're very similar in that regard. If you weren't, you wouldn't be the co-host. No, I am concerned. My biggest concern is that the old files,
even though they are relatively low quality, they're still a wealth of resource for people. And I, it's hard to say, I use my manufacturing website. I have way too many miniature files. On that website. I don't like the website that much. I think it's hard to navigate. It's hard to find exactly what you want. And make sure that isn't the website's fault. It's people trying to get around naming conventions, so they don't get a DMCA for making anything that looks slightly too militaristic for Games Workshop to be like. They called me too. Did they? Yeah. When you're done. But no, it makes, my mini factories, a website kind of hard to navigate. Then add on the whole tribes in, like, alternative to Patreon subscription for models. It does make it challenging.
And I'm worried they're going to make that same decision factors that monetize Thingiverse is actually going to end up watering down what Thingiverse is. At the moment, it's actually kind of easy to search for files. Yes, the files are trash. It's really hard to find the good quality ones. But adding in, like, these monetization layers or getting rid of the adverts and putting something else in or, like, grouping things together, it's going to make it harder to find those nuggets of gold when it's being distilled by other things. And I'm worried about that. That's a fair worry. Right? And that was a worry that so many people have brought to the table that, like, hey, please don't pay gate the crap out of this. This has been a, you know, this has been the way that it was for decades. Let's not mess with a good thing. Randy Parker with the five bucks saying radium resin fund. In theory, that would be safe. It's no more dangerous than the resin itself.
Right? As long as you're not licking the paint brushes that you're using in the radium. That's not how it works. Adding two toxics together does not mean it's the same toxicity. Well, it just doubles. Radium is not dangerous unless you ingest it. So. Yeah. So is resin. No. Get on your skin. Still dangerous. Yeah. That's contacts. What's the difference? Contact outside. Contact inside. It's the same thing. I mean, you know. So they don't. So yeah, they've been very open about that. They don't know what they're going to do. But you know, they're going to have to be very close to the next level. Regarding their. They're they're they're they're method of. Financing. Right to keep the website around. They had posed a poll to people. You know, would you pay. Three dollars five. There was three or five dollars. To get ad free access.
And, you know, some extra perks or something like that for. Like 56% of people said any amount of money is more than what I'm willing to pay for a free website But I I think they didn't pose the question correctly. It was you know, would you voluntarily pay? We're not gonna force you to pay it, but it would get rid of the ads it might allow you to you know Boost positioning in the search for certain models, right? Like a Like a hype thing here on YouTube, which if you can hype videos, please do I don't have that access yet on my personal YouTube, but if you can please type our videos It doesn't cost you anything and it helps us, you know get more views and that's always good for us people when people ask about The I was trying to find it was really upon people ask about donating It's not for you. It's it's simply everyone watching this video You will not be donating to anything. It's like when Wikipedia asks for you to donate nobody does it
They're asking for those five people the whales that will put in a lot of money I mean really value it becomes a key part of their life That's the type of people that tried to look out for when they're asking would you voluntarily donate? That's fair. So don't think it's gonna be an every one thing and it's funny because like you know We we of course ask people to donate here and we very rarely hit our goal, right? We were we normally put a goal of ten donations and it keeps the streams ad free Right, we rarely hit that goal, but Similarly, we have a 112 people or 114 watching 33 likes and cost you a dime to like the video. Please like the video But we do it so that you don't have any eruptions in in the streams, but I can understand that The folks at my manufacturer are like all right. How do we pay for the server costs associated with this? Right, how do we afford the developers? How do we afford the movement?
People don't like ads. They're gonna run ad blockers so the ads become effectively useless. How do we Get a method of monetizing right? I Think printables has done an okay job. I'm not a huge fan of just the random Prusa ads that get injected into printables like Guys we we know where we are. We don't need to see the ads as I'm scrolling through there's like Index I'm like I already know about index. I'm here. I love index. All right. Leave me alone Yeah, I don't I don't know Right like How do you afford this? I? I Don't see it being affordable like that. I do not see a physical way for them to support it Printables works because it's linked to Prusa it can be a loss leader for Prusa. It's fine It's it even if it isn't a loss to the whole point is it funnels you closer towards a Prusa ecosystem there and a couple machines a year funding entire website
Servers aren't expensive. They do get expensive with as much data. I Would assume they're running a 10,000 plus dollar month server bill. I'm a that would be my assumption my assumption is 10 grand a month plus Yeah, but when you consider the scale of printables is the second largest light file repository sure and I think it would be behind thingiverse, wouldn't it? I don't know who's the biggest thing or is Thingiverse the largest or do you think I don't think you think make a word for Even if it has more files when you get to files of this like magnitude and age you go over to tape storage It takes a bit longer to download a file, but it makes it a lot cheaper in the long run It's not expensive running a website relatively speaking Just because number get bigger does not mean number get bigger at the same rate and printables
per person buying a printer They fund the website that's their monetization you buy 3d printers. It does printables Bamboo lab does the same with their maker world You buy bamboo lab printers you buy bamboo lab filament it links into maker world meaning you're Making stuff right buying more filament It funds itself by giving you something to make you buy stuff Yeah, they'll have to figure out some sort of funnel system to work through it and I don't know what that's going to look like Right, but they'll have to figure something out Something because otherwise they're going to hemorrhage money on this and it's going and they're going to end up selling it at a loss and no one wants to see that We don't want to see this change hands as much as it's already changing hands and I I get people's apprehension About the change of hands again, right? Because it's like well any change could be a problem. I Don't disagree with that But I also look at I Look at the my many factory team. I've had a lot of very good conversations with them and could they be putting on a complete show because
They look at me as a relatively affordable way to do marketing, right? maybe but these they they seem way more Real to me than that and if if if they're screwing me Is what it is at least take me out to dinner kind of thing, you know So I he goes by MLB, but YouTube name I'm gonna try to say it. He's in our discord Molly Vitalo schnick he's It's not Polish. Where is he from? I always forget It's right by Czech Republic Slovakia he's from Slovakia He said okay here with the two euros and will DMO for two euros as well for my flicker pro subscription in 3d Hey, I did a pretty good job. I'll take it He also says you know an idea a partnership with slant 3d and take a cut so
We will be talking with land 3d. I have to get on their show and then they're gonna come on to ours But Gabe over at slant 3d we've been discussing it. We're gonna be you know trading podcasts We fun. Yeah, it'll be fun, but maybe Having a you know print on demand service. That's available link it into the teleport service that that slant 3d is providing That would be quite interesting There are make a model be able to buy it similar to oh, what was the website that got shut down that was Print shapeways they're back and they bought things Oh my god, I remember the news and it just like popped out of my brain because I thought shapeways was actually just dead forever No No shapeways is back that literally the the employees of
Shapeways bought shapeways It's kind of it. It's okay. That's pretty cool. I think they have some VC backing potentially on that But I still find it like Morally warming that the people felt some type of way about it to where they didn't want it to die So they brought it back from the dead and that's that's pretty cool Pretty cool John S. I didn't protolabs by shapeways know they bought 3d hubs. They bought 3d hubs a while ago though I I think pretty sure Yeah See I'm all puppy dogs and unicorns about it because There's no downside to me Right, but that is Imagine if like thing of us just disappeared Yes overnight they told me that that wasn't going to happen But they also don't have a plan
Well, they don't have a plan for monetization. They don't have a plan to afford it right and Instead of saying we're gonna pay gate the thing or we're gonna do this or we're gonna do that They said we're gonna go to the community and ask for advice right and Very few other companies do this. So if you ask me. This is the right way of doing it Saying we want this to go to the right hands. We believe we are the right hands But we need to find a way to financially afford this so let's just have an open town hall meeting For over two hours and just ask the community How can we make this platform better? Something that you will want to use again and Somehow be able to afford it's like I think the ability for designers to pay gate models Fine great. I think that's cool. I do like that right take a cut of the pay gate Every company does it just do it. There's no reason not to right
But Don't pay gate everything, you know if a designer wants to pay gate their models Why don't pay gate that's on the designer. That's not on you Right have every model with a donate button. Yeah allow people to donate to the designer They can take that cut from that. Sure. There's a lot of people are happy to pay. They like the file Sometimes I don't know This industry this industry is so odd about paying for things because this industry was built around the FU we're not going to pay for it. We can do it ourselves and I know people in our own discord that instead of paying 5 or 10 bucks for something they'll spend 5 or 10 hours of their time reverse engineering it based on photos To get what they want because to them That's a better deal than paying the money and look I cannot sit here and say that that person has not been me a timer too right I'm kind of doing that right now But it's a $350 item
And it's a physical item and I would rather have some modifications to it for modularity for 3d printing um That's at least what I want to do right but Yeah I can see the I can see the money problem I can also see that some people don't like my manufacturing Their search kind of sucks I and I don't think that's a problem of my manufacturer. I want to specify I don't think the searching sucks. I think the creators suck. Do you think that they're just bad at models No, I think it's actually because of games workshop Games workshop was so Strangent with their you cannot use these words in your naming or we will immediately DMC you It made all the creators Find different words for everything. So if you just type in the word imperial guard
I'm probably going to be commissar and the next five seconds It's that level of they were being like space Commandos instead of something else and then they they will try not even you was the word space It was just like galactic empire evil gothic like there's there's no uniformed naming scheme And they can't use the tagging system because that's how games workshop DMCA to them So you ended up with like these millions of files all of them Named differently, so you can't search thing think of cyberpunk I have quite 400s cyberpunk related models for when I'm doing a cyberpunk roleplay game Not a single model is named anywhere similar to anything in the cyberpunk game. They're always like neon warriors or digital frontiers Just other words that it means cyberpunk. We can tell it means cyberpunk. It looks like cyberpunk
They've given it a different name And it makes it impossible to search Because you're trying to find whatever that creator Created under a name that you cannot search for because they intentionally did it to get around people searching for it So they don't get DMCA'd right no, I mean It's why I pay for the patreon and the the the tribes For certain creators Because I really like the models But I can never google them Evo I'm upset I never considered that to be the reason why and is it the only reason Probably not But certainly that's like the philenium malkin which is you know an OG way to test your 3d printer right a tall Lanky model the philenium malkin right what is it? It's the millennium falcon right
But you can't call it that because disney will take it down Damn it. That's a good point Um two eight one three three oh eight zero zero four aka mic Jones Saying hey guys interesting subject. I think they can make money on the data alone in the age of AI Data is gold thing averse is a gold mine No No, I mean literally they brought it into the sole crafted brand no AI I get I get where you're going with that they could just buy it chop it up into pieces and get rid of it There is no The there's no um Private equity they said On recording that they are not taking thing averse to chop it up and throw it away right That they're not doing that They want to bring it back to the glory that it was back in the day That That makes sense to me Cutting it up. Yeah, I get with with AI
But as it is any AI company can train their data from these websites if it's free they can legally download it And good luck trying to actually sue these AI companies they have more VC and PE funding than they know what to do with so You know, but I have the CEO and I think he's CTO or CMO I have Reese called her and remain kid both saying no, we're not cutting this thing up for parts, right So if they do boycott him, right? I mean, it's it's that simple But I don't think they're doing that I don't Yeah, and sounds park put in Imperial guards sounds a bit too genetic to have IP you're right And that's the problem Games workshop when they were making their their army names used Imperial Guard Space Marines and all of these other like generic terms like elder
are literally Elf it is a word Pun based on it. It's why their new models and their new like codex lines change the names Space Marines aren't space Marines anymore Imperial Guard are Astra Militarium They gave them proper names because they can trademark them now They weren't ever able to trademark Imperial Guard Because guess what Imperial Guard exists in the real world. They're called Imperial Guard You can go and google them They're real You can't trademark something that's real In same space Marines like Starship Troopers did it before them Alien franchise did it before them Like their generic terms but the lawyers at Games Workshop were so on the ball Nobody's willing to fight them And then what ended up happening was they got fed up of sending DMCA's to everyone And just still do it anyway, but then change the name so you can't use the word Astra Militarium I think they can't use the word
They do yeah, they see other people having fun And they hate it and it sucks because for a Company that is so Community focused. They're also very not to community focused I mean for a year I was banned from Games Workshop I wasn't allowed to go into their stores Which is funny because they had to unband me because they banned me for resin printing my own models Because I liked kit bashing. I was doing digital kit bashing So I'd make my own parts and I'd glue them onto the official things This is back when they really didn't understand what the reedy printing was And then I spoke to one of their like senior leadership team And I was like you do know I know the guys who sold you your own resin printers That do 3d printing in resin for volcanization molds so you can prototype your first molds And they're like ah
And then I got unbanned because you can't ban somebody who knows more about the industry than the people that are doing it They called me the other day Did that what do they do but did they say I so they call the company great happy about that Uh, and they wanted me to become a reseller Yeah You yep the 3d printing that is correct I said are you sure you do know that you're calling a 3d printing company right they're like yes Yeah, we do Like you are aware that we effectively stand against your exorbitant pricing Right They're like well our pricing isn't unreasonable. I said no it is it is absolutely We call it plastic crack for a reason because it's worth more and it's as if it's weight is gold Yep, it is plastic crack Yep Yeah, I I said look Also you have an actual games workshop like less than 20 miles for me
There's no way that they would be okay with having another reseller this close like there's no way Uh, I'm thinking like mmm if I was an active player of this I probably would have taken their deals So I could have bought it reseller pricing It's not even that good We sell a pricing isn't even that good. I didn't get that far. I basically said you know look we're not really interested Um, you know you guys are against what we do and because of that alone I'm out kind of thing Um, I I want to bring up a comment here a couple of comments actually from the same person Uh, let me find it guerrilla technologies The guerrilla technology says whatever my many factory says is marketing BS saying They want to devise the vertical they want to Oh diverse the vertical they are in They're probably no more growth in minis and now they extend to engineering designs and rope in the MSG crowd even more. I'm assuming message crowd. I don't know
even more. I mean Welcome to business right expanding your reaches of business by purchasing and other business Is a totally legitimate legal and accepted practice For expanding your business. There's nothing wrong with that. That's just business I don't have a problem with it. I don't think the many community is failing In any particular way do you No, I don't think every company wants to diversify and grow yeah because Businesses like a tree it has branches The trunk might be the the first thing you do the the one that funds everything else But without branches and the leaves that grow off those branches You won't have a stable company in the long run. You can keep growing it until you're this massive sycamore tree But eventually you're going to need to branch out
Too fee. Yeah Otherwise you're going to run out of Users or money or growth and the moment you stop growing is the moment companies start dying It's literally having a plant in a pod It will become pot bound the roots will get to a certain point and that's it They will not grow anymore because they're stuck and that the plant will literally suffocate to death Because it is no way of gaining extra nutrients to allow itself to grow or its growth will be stunted And it won't be you know, it'll only go to a certain height and then that's it Right That's not good for business Like I want to be clear YouTube is a business for us. Yes, it is a lost leader Yes, it is marketing. Yes, it is all of these things My end goal with this YouTube channel is to make it a profit driver for this business for 3d musketeers For the making awesome podcasts for Jacob and I to be able to take an actual salary from the show Because of the sponsors that we have from it and you know be able to say
Hey, let's have you come out to Rocky Mountain. Hey, let's have you come out to 3d printopia and not require The event to pay us or have sponsors pay us to do it right That is the goal of this We effectively bought the YouTube channel by putting a ton of money into it hiring people to help us build it We're not buying likes or anything like that But we're we're burning capital every single month with the hope that it ends up being a long term Net profitable play welcome to business Right and Nick Nick 2024 is right. This is why Jacob branched out into YouTube streams the ransom now of a new vertical Exactly, I started YouTube with grant so I can spread the awareness of the company that I run It's it's shadow marketing, but that is a new branch I'm putting my time
It's damn good shadow marketing right a lot of it is could be your customers And if they are especially with the new product we're coming out designed for consumers. Yep And if they're not smurf we're showing it off and you're showing off sir. Okay, and if they're not your direct customer Maybe the companies they work for are see a lot of people here that do 3d printing Also do 3d printing professionally in their day jobs So and we find that often we've had quite a few jobs on the ht90 come in because of YouTube which By the way, we're doing that. We're doing a 90 day ht90 challenge. We're coming up on one month Um for how long we've had this machine Uh and we're like I think we're like 40% of the way of paying it off technically Um So yeah, I I will have to pull the actual numbers. I don't have and I am waiting to get paid on it in voice I am counting it as paid, but I am waiting to get paid on it um
So nicknick guys what's the ht90 it it's uh that's hector tango or Whatever h is in the phonetic alphabet. I don't know what it is hotel hotel Hotel tango 90 it is Prusha's high ends peak peck altem Delta printer Made by tri lab, which is now under the Prusha brand renamed to the Prusha Pro line So it is it's sitting oh it it's sitting like six feet from me Um Yeah, so if you do want to get peak peck altem ABS ASA nylon whatever Reach out to us. Have I shown you the big nylon part that came off of it? No, you have it. Yeah, it's going out on monday, so Oh, so that's the same. That's really clean. I'm going the wrong way. That's the same Um, that's really key a six. There's a little support in there my my my tools aren't long enough story in my life Um the oh there's only a little bit of uh of the underside of the support
This is a single nozzle printer This is almost this is 500 grams of nylon PA6 this isn't carbon fiber nylon. This isn't any of that that's difficult straight friggin nylon I was going to do it out of carbon nylon, but this is going to get post machined Hence why it's it's a cone it is like 20 layer or 20 walls thick up here Yeah, so it attaches onto some sort of ball socket here just based on the design of it and then this rubs against something That the client is working on so now And if you let us actually film what we're what we're making with it We will give you a discount if you don't let us film it. You don't get a discount. So yeah but MLB wants to wants a comparison of the h90 and the 22 i-dex i do too. So convinced vision minor to send me one um Uh
But Yeah, I've been enjoying the h90 um Then jimmy says so prussia bought a company to branch into high-end Delta printers and their normal business isn't failing like my many factory buying thingiverse Great example great example Yeah, that is a great example Like that is it's easier to buy than is to build from the ground up And it saves a load of problems especially if the other company you are buying is also successful You take their success. You can reap the benefits Leave that success to keep growing And now you have directive control as well. So if you can do a better job It's even better. And if you do a worse job, you just default back to everyone else. Right. Right. There's no downside T-barum says peak peck ultim on a delta is definitely a choice. I don't disagree um It works though
You know, you're not going to do 90 85 very big because it's only a 90 c chamber So you're not going to get the full build height with ultim 90 85 it just Your part will start to delaminate in my opinion Um, but 10 10 no problem. You can get 10 10 at that no problem at all Um, it's reasonably well insulated too. I've had it up to 75 c in the chamber so far And yeah, it's warm on the outside, but it's not 75 c warm. It's probably 35 35 to 40 c on the outside, you know, it's warm. It lets you know that it's on um Nicknick asked if we could stream it on maker deck. We can't so one um, it's got to refit the the front panel for it is acrylic and it's mildly reflective and I don't want to show other stuff like you you'll Yeah, I don't want to show other stuff in the shop To there might be NDA's over the stuff that we're printing and three I don't have a USB cable running over there for a camera. So all of that means no
Um, yeah, and tri-lib is in the Czech Republic too. Yes, they're about two and a half hours away from perusia by train And I only know that because we went out there and we filmed video coming soon tm probably Um, yeah, so we we have toured all of tri-lib and in fact we've turned screws and bolts and nuts on HT90s, which is kind of cool Uh, and yes, I know use a polarizing filter the cameras that I would be using for this Don't have like I'm gonna use a webcam. They don't have polarizing filters on them I'm not I'm not going through all that effort to stream an expensive printer. Sorry. Uh Just no Um, and quite frankly if perusia wants us to do that They can give me some money to do Yeah, see that's why you buy a construct through the construct to you with it's built in 4k 60 FPS webcast and it has automatically streams if you want it has to say just say All my machines are critical infrastructure. We don't put them online. So even a construct too. I wouldn't put it online
I'm not gonna stream from it because I should be able to trust that it's gonna do its job That is true. So I don't care about the the streaming side of it Um But you know John S designed in three printer polaris filter to hold the webcam. Have you heard about three printing no What is this? I hear they're trying to ban it in some states and people are talking about it But everyone refused to talk about the a one fire issue Okay, just just ban printers it will solve the problem. Yeah. Yeah Kisker said Jacob I buy two if I had the money. I ain't saying they're over price. I'm saying they're I'm I'm saying I'm underpaid same Same I feel that in my bones when we have a product stack for the year that should entice quite a few new people when we When we do our shop expansion, we're likely picking up a construct too So I am functionally out of room and more importantly, I'm out of power
And I'm not running another dedicated circuit to this office It is like 60 feet from my from my Outlet or from my panel. I'm not so expensive. I'm not doing it That do though. Yeah, if I'm gonna do it. I'm running dedicated lines to a new building Yeah, so but uh There have been a lot of people are just like I don't like my mini factory. I don't like what they do I don't use them enough to understand why people don't like them Jacob, are you aware of why people don't like my mini factory? Uh, it's mostly the website It's challenging. It's not straightforward. There is it doesn't feel like force monetization but it does feel Like they're trying to eat money out where it doesn't belong like the tribes is basically patreon but done via My mini factory Where you subscribe to a group on this case a tribe and you get access to their models every month
It's not a bad idea. It's just it's another thing that it's like patreon already did. Yeah, it is it's patreon But I have to do less work I don't have to deal with who has access to a google drive and what photos on google driver drop box And it can all be done on a model repository Yeah, you know what? Sign me up. I'm kind of I'm kind of feeling that now. I'm a crappy designer So I would never do that kind of thing but certainly there are There are reasons But yeah, um, there's also like the search is challenging Trying to actually find what you're looking for even though you know what exists is basically impossible The entire website does feel like Instagram Where trying to find a specific meme Impossible you go there because you know there's memes but trying to find it
You can't do it you can search the same things it will show you something different And that is one of The problems with the website is it's a good well-made website. It's just challenging It's overwhelming the amount of information they they put on the screen at any one time Has a complete Miss match of design ethos because the main images are made by the designers and each one has their own design flare So you end up with this like autistic overwhelm of colors shapes Like design layout that's fair It's a fine website. They've done a good job It doesn't make it good to that. It's like they've relinquished too much control Over how things look to people that aren't them And it's kind of backfired Right like go on my many faction now just pull up the the front page and tell me what you see sure
And I will say like they've made that home page better I see like the adventure last chance up 190 dollar plus value Rescale mini uh, yeah, rescale miniatures flashcraft studio mad mad minis and Magus brew studios join the adventure for an epic loot box of STLs and more this February join today That's the first thing that I see and that's making you like that one to the wrong website Yeah, you're already met with this kind of like budget vibe Because it's like sale sale sale. Yeah, now scroll down scroll down one page worth And look at the sodden juxtaposition. Oh, there was a lot of like mildly not safe for work stuff on the front page. Yes And that's why I don't like it You've got everything from cute bunnies to literally nsfw version added yes from
I hate oh, maybe yeah, I totally see it and all of these are all these paid Literally you scroll on their front page and it's all paid Yeah, there's something for free if I was first yeah, dude if I was a first time user of this I would say that this is just a place where This is a model repository to buy paid models. Yeah, there are free models But they're not well advertised. It's impossible to find what you're looking for And a lot of the free models are hidden behind Half a subscription where they're like introductory like gifts to the subscriptions Or they're the free models Next to the subscription So you can get the free model see if you like it and then subscribe. It makes it very difficult To find anything Because of the free stuff. It's hard to get and of the not free stuff. It's overwhelming and calling it an epic loopbox of STLs
It's the same thing I when I see a cyber truck It's like why why would you call it that one? loot boxes are like the the idea of a loot box is illegal Because it's a gambling thing So that alone and I don't think that's what they're doing here. It is no it's not these are Curated files. They've just called it loot box. That's a terrible name for it. That's a terrible name and quite frankly There might be some legal recourse about that Right, but oh my god. Yeah, like so my My my my my my above the fold stops at the at the studio featured creators, right? So I can see moonlight minis Hexten hills dark rituals print your monster. Then it that's it. There needs to go further admiral Oh, oh, it it it it scrolls. I didn't even notice that it scrolls. It's scrolled on me. Um, okay, so
Lost that but Yeah, no, I you know what I totally understand why people are pissed off now It's it's a completely functional website Impossible to use so like I just went to the search page something normal. I find something you know exists But you have to search for it. Okay, well all I did is I I went to where the search bar is and I just clicked explore it and type anything I clicked explore So we've got the first line is all paid second line. There's one paid a second paid and then taking up two areas of The the search is my mini factory gift card ad paid paid paid more another line of paid another line of paid another line of paid another line of paid another line of paid Where will I see my first free model when I don't search for anything and go to the explore page
I have no idea I'm gonna throw you in you wait does it just infinitely scroll it might infinitely it is an infinite score I have not found one yet So I'm gonna tell you to search for imperial guard. Okay, because there are Thousands of designers out there that make imperial guard models as you are scrolling Look at the type of people like the account name on the models. Okay Oh Yeah, pretty much one company And you know why because they're using the word imperial guard right in there right in the title the actual Designers who are doing the higher quality stuff because these models for imperial guard that they're mid they're all right Um, they look like a model that I would get off of What's that 3d Creator thing I forget what it's called for D&D. Um Oh, the name is escaping me
Not maybe titan forge Yeah, something like that Something like that But yeah, it looks like what you generate out of there and it's like 699 to download the model like Yeah, like these aren't the most like in-depth models, but because this single creator Hugo for sure. Thank you. Thank you nebulous dh and thank you to be aware of my memberships They've used the word imperial guard They have dominated the first like 10 equivalent pages. Oh for sure Yeah That I I subscribe to physical designers that make amazing imperial guard models But they've never once called them imperial guard. I'm like getting overwhelmed by seeing the same Type and it's like well, okay, let's say I wanted an imperial guard mini So and it's adeptus miniatures. It is the one doing it. So I'm gonna click on their profile
And their profile it all looks the same. How do I know which ones I want like eat all of the sudden It's it's overwhelming like you know and you're right. It is over. Oh, and when you click something it opens in a new tab Interesting Um, I guess I kind of like that, but yeah, it is it's freaking overwhelming. Where are my free models? Let me go to filters Let's see what other filters I can do. Ah. Oh Oh, hey Huh by default in the filters. It is only showing you premium designs Default only shows you paid models Yeah Okay, I got a problem with that I do see where I'm you know what? Okay, I've got a problem with that I do not want something that is only by default showing me paid models That's not okay by many factory. I'm sorry. It's not okay
All right, let me let me go to let me go to all Let me see all right, so I clicked all which should give me both free and paid Okay, it took To it's at the end of the third line. It is still from adeptus miniatures, but it is free So Yeah, why is Why is it premium only the default You want to piss me off. That's exactly how you do it It's this is literally the problem you mix up the search algorithm to try and monetize But then you'll add on top of How do you find the files when they're not very well made clear like here's another example. Here's a great one This is one that will probably be more popular than the whole games workshop problem Ironically, it's another games workshop thing. It's kill team the small little like five or six man versus five or six man hero
Like version of the game It is really fun. It's designed that you don't need a thousand models You can get into it really cheaply and it's it it makes combat tiny Like you are literally playing with five or six models and they've made them as cool as they are in real like in the books No one on the website uses the word kill team to say like if you're looking for kill team models Here they are they use kill squad or killer team or other things and the search algorithm doesn't pick up doesn't pick it up damn I should know I printed loads for my friends from different makers I can't find any of them by just searching the names that I know they're done One of them made a really good like underwater diver Based like imperial guard team where they all came from a water world So they were all in like your traditional brass diving gear with all their equipment Really cool one of them had a riot shield that was just a ship door like a bulkhead door Looked great. That's pretty cool. I cannot find it
So can't find it Doug pointed out saying it looks at the URL He searched and then added the tag premium only and yep it does it immediately adds the tag premium only so And it's hidden beyond a drop down so we go to filters you then have to explore more categories and options to then Show you know all premium only or free only I'm not okay with that. I mean maybe this could be the move of my minifactory saying okay MMF is going to be only paid models and Thingiverse is going to be where the free ones live I am now totally so before this I wasn't really understanding Of people's frustration with all this I'm like guys. They're gonna breathe new life into Thingiverse, but Okay, well wait a minute I can understand why you might be upset at this. I Can tell their website is not Great um the files high
If you're watching this please please look at the chat and listen to what we're saying here man, please And I will say I think half the issue that I have with my minifactory is just the designers That are posting onto my minifactory Don't have the safety to actually call things what they are They can't tag things warfare. They can't tag things It's not and I want to make that very clear for everyone I don't think the naming and search feature for my minifactory ignoring the premium only tag because that's a bit of a dick move It should be neutral Is a actual fault of my minifactory? I think it's a fault of the way the industry is done It should be a 100% legal to sell things called Imperial Guard based for Imperial Guard It's not a trademark term. It might be used for the game of Warhammer But it's still a term and it should be categorized as that for searching
Games Workshop have their own rules for the really printed parts Which is you're allowed to do it if it's only few and you can't do it for other people Please try and buy their model still That's their their official ruling But for a while they didn't and now it's kind of made the the search algorithm for miniatures Almost impossible to do So I want to specify for everyone Searching will always be a problem for miniatures It's easiest to find people who make the type of model you want and then find it through the creators themselves Then searching for the models that you want from those creators It's like I use unit 9 is a great one. I think they recently changed their naming scheme to actually have the word cyberpunk in it But for the longest time they've never used the word cyberpunk So all right now they do here's another thing that's like why why do they do this
When you search Imperial Guard it shows you creators found for Imperial Guard There's only one the guy's name is Caleb Todd Their user name is Imperial Guard They have One print file Why are we not showing Creators That have models tagged as Imperial guards Like they don't want to use the tagging system in case they got DMCA'd but Okay They're clearly using the name in the title which is way easier to search than a tagging system Right And I would say I think this individual creator is playing with fire Because they've actually tagged it with the name of what it should be like everyone else should be tagging it Yeah, well not just the name of their username, which is a depth of something Because that's already very warhammer focused But that's fine. They can't quibble a username Usename's a free game, right, but they've put the word Imperial Guard in the title of what they've made
There are so many more makers for Imperial Guard models That cannot do that or They're not really yeah, they're not willing to take the risk a depth of search is Imperial Guard And they should have this plethora of models from a plethora of designers They don't They only have the one guy that's willing to risk it And get all of the the benefit until the DMC I you're right because even even with the category of all or the design type all Dude they're still dominating the search heavily. Yeah, I mean that's That's obviously a problem obviously that's a problem and Part of that is on my many factory part of that is on the creators, but the other part of it is on It is on games workshop, right? Yeah, so I yeah I don't have I I can't sit here and say that I have an opinion on all of this because
I can say that I don't like it, but I also recognize that I don't have a better a better answer And in my world if I don't have a better answer Then I don't give my opinion Because my opinion doesn't if I don't like something For just the sake of not liking it Well, what's the point there if you don't like it because you can clearly identify something that is wrong Then identify the thing that is wrong the problem is the thing that is wrong here Is not really able to be adjusted And I've said for the longest time like oh Have we lost gone no Oh no cool you were looking down. I'm like holy shit. He's frozen Spectrum My my phone see I have the youtube I looked up to check like the my mini factory again because I do have good things to say about it And then I look down it you had unmoved and I'm like oh right right um
But like that are good makers on here. There's even like how I believe war machine The company that makes the miniatures war machine Are on here making like updates and like variations of their own miniatures And I would have loved to see games workshop put their older models That they're never gonna make again like this like the the the old like puter models on here And they could pay gave them I would happily pay 60 quid for an original land radar like model kit never do it. I'd pay that money not a chance But they're never gonna do it and I think it's so short-sighted of them the scarcity of the models is good for them Because it it drives second hand pricing through the roof which doesn't necessarily Give them any profit, but what it does is if they decide to re-release that later on it'll drive a bunch of people that say I want it. Yeah as soon as you release the models for whether you have to pay for it or not
You you've lost control of the IP and that's that's something that was brought up many times during the live stream With my many factory is like how are you going to control the bad actors and they basically said we will do the best we can But there's only so much we can do there's yeah, there's only so many things you can do To stop somebody from from paying money to download your collection and then uploading it for free Right, there's only so much you can do and it becomes so tedious From everybody's perspective that it's like well There's not much we can do And you know how you can compare and contrast this against something that does work in an ideal world For my many factory Searching their search by the word beholder because that's a D&D term now D&D Never DMCA's people People are more than happy to use the same terms for a creature no matter what
So if you put in the word beholder You get on the first page Not a single duplicate maker At all and there's a mixture and I I have set it to three and not the first Four results two of them are free one of them looks amazing And then you've got a couple of paid ones with varying prices from really cheap that looks great to really expensive That looks great It It's not a bad system So okay, it shows how bottlenecks it is So that then is it The Not Showing you both free and paid. I can absolutely you know I can complain about that too. I am happy to kneecap my many factory on that because they absolutely deserve it But the fact that only one creator is mostly showing up under imperial guard That's not there fault. That's the other creator's faults for not wanting to take the risk of getting DMCA So do you hate the player? Do you hate the game? I hate both
I hate both I hate every one I legitimately I think if If games workshop got off their laurels and actually said you know what We know you're gonna do it So instead of just trying to DMCA every single one of you We'll just kind of let you do it and we'll look the other way I think they can do it anyway. They'd be so much more popular. So like If they and This has been knowing what printables does if they entered into a agreement You know like how Phillips did the releasing of the guards for their trimmer If games workshop entered into an agreement with my many factory to release Models like that like their real models or accessories for their models That were like official games workshop stuff. Do you know how much street cred they would earn Right like that would be a lot huge But instead they'd rather be the bad guys because they want the money You know man, I'm just going through all the beholder files now because you actually getting all the different
And I'm putting one in the chat. I am literally putting one in the chat now This is one of the most gorgeous beholder models I've seen in a hot minute I Like ready for one collectible is the opposite way of uh to do it bring people in with the free stuff and convert them into paid stuff Basic marketing advertise the lost leader. I think you should be showing both Right show everything let let the user decide if they want free or not But don't do it like printable show start by relevant start by how many like start by like The preference of the people if people like the paid models more they go up right That's how it works. Yeah, and let me search by downloads Let me search by likes the same way that printables does I assume that maker world is similar because it's just green printables that IP blocks you when you download more than five models without using an email
Which is another thing. I think that's so anti-consumer and anti-user And a data mining practice now proponents of maker world have said well It's because people were abusing their point system well then fix your point system don't don't go anti-consumer On you know on downloading like Printables will let you download they'll ask you to log in You don't have to but you don't have to you know, I don't do it I don't mind that you're gonna say hey if you like this kind of stuff make it account Why not give it a shot But not block me from downloading until I make an account. That's just being a dick Andrew Rogers has my question is this is games workshop basically DMCA is basing DMCA takedowns on trademark or copyright trademark They absolutely have to defend or they lose it copyright has no such and for requirement. You're totally on copyright They are doing it on copyright because they don't have a trademark for the words imperial guard or space marine
They've tried it so many times and even the UK courts were like no You cannot trademark the term imperial guard Because we have our own actual imperial guard for the king and queen Just the king There isn't a queen right now. Well when they when they change right but the point me like we have Imperial guard, but the same way that is that terminology Apple has trademarked Apple for computers They can trademark imperial guard for miniatures. That's okay. Yeah, but they never did That's the thing they never did and they've tried And it's because there's too much media that used the term imperial guard before games workshop came to be They used the word space marines before the like After everybody else like space marine was an already known term. I wonder what happened before they made space marines when marines joined space force Do we call them space marines and does games work? No, that actually called that
I do believe Trump of all things he's done has said the marines that go to space are called space marines Yeah, but will games workshop try to stop that 100% I would try to stop anyone impinging on the IP that they don't own Well I don't know the technicalities of it what I know is that I I can easily blame my mini factory for not showing us any free models by default. I think that that's kind of slimy um But I can't blame the users Who are more than willing to risk it for the biscuit taking advantage of the fact that they've learned how the my mini factory algorithm ranks everything You know again that's hating the player and the game. I don't hate my mini factory. I hate the adeptus miniatures because They're they're literally gaming the system, but yep They're doing it and I don't even hate that the right way
I Record I if that was me I'd be doing that. I'll be like cool. I'm gonna run the gauntlet I'm gonna Flood it with the official name they can DMC me and I can run away with my boat load of cash Right because if I'm a graphic designer. I know what I'm doing. It's fast today Yeah, and all you gotta do is it as long as you can get a bag before Yeah, but before they before they DMC you that you're fine They so it's most designers think they're gonna get sued into oblivion and In reality you often get DMC aid first, right? They'll send you a seasoned assist Frame it put it on your wall and then change the name of your change the name of your models move on It's because surprising no one Sowing people is expensive and telling people to piss off isn't So they don't really want to sue you into oblivion because they just lose money The only people that win in lawsuits are lawyers, right? For us to we have sent a few seasoned assists in our day actually I have to do it again There's somebody on
Uh, there's somebody using 3d musketeers as their business name I have seen yeah, I found it on I was gonna I was gonna tell you afterwards. Yeah, I messaged them and basically said we could do this the easy way or the hard way You know, I need you to change your name Uh, or I got to send you a seasoned assist so I spoke to my attorney. It's 500 bucks um, and I'm like well Are they posing enough of a risk to me that 500 dollars is worth it and currently no But I need to understand what they're selling like flexi dragons and bullshit like that So like they're not even in the same market that we're in So I would say it muddies your brand And that's the problem does because they might not take sales from you It might end up that so I'm sorry. Oh, I bought this flexi dragon from 3d musketeers No more information is given they then see you and they're like, huh But like and how the brana said how could you it feels like they were almost deliberate or they did zero research
Right because there's no way that you put 3d musketeers in your browser and you don't find us like there There's there's just no way and yes, there's the reputation risk is Kevin 75474 is saying They are like local to their area only from what I can tell they go to farmers markets and stuff like that I'm not worried there. I'm more worried about the name association I might be way too corporate for this But I would be defending the brand with every weapon in my arsenal because I don't mind products get cloned It's a mark of success. You've done something good somebody cloned you well done But if they clone my brand. Oh my god I'm taking you out back and giving you the 12 gauge lobotomy that you deserve like come on the problem You do not take the brand the cost. It's the cost. What's it worth to you? Everything The brand is the dude you can always rebuild products, but you cannot rebuild a brand
That's why because if somebody say comes on let's say a Chinese company comes on were a Spanish company comes along and they're like We're gonna make EU certified 3d printers construct 3d It's gonna look kind of pretty, but it's gonna be whatever they do I'm gonna be fighting tooth and nail to litigate them out the ass Because it's so close to what we do it will muddy the brand of what we do And therefore I'm now fighting whatever marketing decisions they make And the marketing decisions I make so people know we're separate until they disappear The easiest way for a company to protect themselves is to have their ward guard and then nobody encroach If somebody has the same name they've got the keys to your door because you've got a mineshare and they're gonna take the mineshare right well It's fair Actually now I'm searching for 3d musketeers on youtube and I don't see them showing up anymore So maybe they did change their name, but oh no there they are
Nope, they're there they're the 3d musketeers and their logo is so close to ours too I'm gonna have to do this Yeah, but yeah, I I'm not a very I always sue people person like I have patents in the 3d printing world I've spoke to people about those patents We aren't going to be enforcing certain patents on people the way our lawyers have been like you should do this Because it's against the ethos of the industry and against our ethos I'd rather just give license agreements for free to people so they can keep doing what they want to be doing But if anyone is like I'm construct 3d No, you are not I built construct 3d nobody's going to encroach on that And that is because whatever we do it needs the protection of the brand The brand at this point is basically me as the face of it. We have a lot of people behind the scenes But as the face of the brand people see construct 3d. They see me on youtube
They link my ethos and my willingness with the community to the brand my safety focus to the brand Somebody else comes along and they make an unsafe printer called construct 3d My reputation already hits the dirt the brand's reputation hits the dirt. It's very hard to rebuild a reputation Especially if it's a cloned product as well They're I can rebuild products. I can redo all of that. I can't rebuild trust Trust is the one thing that's easily lost and hard to build and that comes with your brand recognition Nick Nick 2024 I disagree Jacob you were the hair of the brand damn right It's true you do have the hair Oh, no, the 3d musketeers logo looks almost exactly like yours. Yeah, that's intentional That's intentional. It's got the whisp and everything you think
Yeah The important thing is it's also pointing in the same direction All right, well there's no way to contact them. I've left comments on some of their more recent shorts I actually just added another one to to their second most recent short like They must have seen it. There's no way that you don't get notified From a video from a You know from a channel of our size like you just don't but I have the logo artists who did their logo So I'm gonna reach out to them too and be like hey I need their contact information But yeah, if you look there I mean for now like even now I am reporting the user for impersonation of somebody else Um there and the what youtube does is they ask are they impersonating another user by copying their channel layout Yeah, using a similar user name or posting as them in common CMOS and those similar users impersonating me doesn't have to be the same
It's similar that's impersonation. Yeah, so there we go Okay Okay, sir. Yeah, you know what and look I I was gonna give him some time to I was gonna give him 30 days and then I was just gonna send a lawyer But yeah, the youtube report's probably easier Um, I love how people can't even spell our name. It's musketeers with an e Uh Oscar. I'm just like I can barely spell it. I have to copy paste every time There's never been an a in musketeers ever Not a musketeer, not in the story, not in the movies, not in the Disney property, never It's all been with ease. I'm just as like sick. It's I I I Musketeers musketeers There's no a in the word muskete But when you say it in certain ways, it's musketeer like the right bull not scat like deer poop in the woods
I'm a scat man Baby I get it and like you know, we have we technically have a trademark and and all of that but there's also a point of Dude the amount of money like they haven't posted in a long time either who knows if they're even still in business Um, you know, it's like okay There becomes a certain point where it's like I'm gonna spend thousands of dollars trying to Uh, you know go after him and it's like eh Yeah, I would just I'm not saying for people here to just spam report for the sake of it Do it on your own time. If you believe it's close use the legitimate system to do what you believe is legitimate I am not calling for brigading. Don't do that. No. No, I personally think that also illegal, isn't it?
I don't know like the UK laws are a bit different for that Like we can't dox people in the UK. That's not a thing Because you can google people's home addresses Like literally if you guys google my first name I come up on google maps Just say Send me some gifts if you want. It'll be great. I don't live there anymore. So it's got the wrong address and I mean my mom opens them, which is even funny It's funny. I'm like I'm I'm now using google to try to find them and I I have to keep like I'm on page four and I'm still only finding myself So this this customer is now called me three times during this podcast. They they're well aware of the fact that we're streaming today I'm not answering your call customer. I'm streaming um Leave me a message or text me if it's that important um
Yeah, literally That's so funny Yeah, so I don't know anyways Moving on, uh, Android 5 bucks saying for the musketeers fund Yep, I like that. I will say uh, who was his dpt That called us 3d mouse tiers. I'm like oh That's such a good name that I would put on merch, but I'm not gonna give him the uh the benefit of that You know what though? Complete little tangent I am gonna ask all my viewers obviously like and subscribe to the channel Could you guys just search my name and click on my LinkedIn because me and this porn star have been trying to fight for first place On google like search results and the porn stars just made it to first and bumped me from first to second So if you could just like click my LinkedIn and just bump up my SEO a little bit. I want to cut first again
Just saying nope No, I'm not uh google it. Let literally google it and see what comes up the first two links Tell tell the channel who Yeah, here let me uh, let me see. I'm on like page 8 at Google and I still don't find it. All right. Let me do Jacob Here, let's see Jacob lord Uh, I get the first link is I am Jacob lord on instagram Hey, you wanted on the work um for me. It's between Jacob lord on IMDB Uh and just for to read out the IMDB like little blurb underneath it. That's auto generated by uh Google it says actor and they have acted in the men Lucas entertainment Spain and the ass Tourist attraction Wonderful oversized and muscle gummy. Okay, we're done with this
We're done reading off their IMDB page. Thank you. Please uh bump up my LinkedIn. I want to be first again Isn't even on the first page for me Isn't it? Oh, that's interesting No, I see a coach Jacob lord on x Uh, I see a Jacob lord on Facebook that lives in Lafayette Colorado Uh I see yep. I see the coach. I see the coach a lot Wow So interesting I wanted to suck Jacob Oh Damn Even your soul makes probably I'm second in Google images. Sorry. I am second in Google images after the porn star Which makes me sad. I am sandwiched by the same porn star uh on each side of me. These jokes are too easy I'm not taking them um So to to to keep going down this route of repositories
Things removed their search feature their their search all websites feature What did they have Why That was a great feature Okay, so one It never defaulted to that it only ever defaulted to fangs only so most people probably didn't even know about it Two a lot of websites are blocking fangs from doing that Which I I understand right but Yeggy's been doing it for years. So like I don't know why it was such a big deal when fangs did it Don't know whatever and three Dollars to donuts. I bet you it was too damn expensive It was too damn expensive. Yeah, I bet indexing multiple websites And then to have them only just then leave their website But I think a lot of us rally behind things because this search feature was really awesome
And now that it's gone Wait a minute And you're out just saying the things default used to be search all out. It hasn't been for a while But now search all It still works it does I was told it was gone I even checked it was gone Uh, I'm just gonna search benchy So I'm on their website now Sort by default no file type No cost no Yeah, no things is only things now You just need to know how to use it Um, oh used to be able to change the url Uh, to all no Yeah, it's gone So my assumption is it was just too expensive for them
Also just quickly leaping around because I open up things just to double check that Thanks know how to lay out a good page This is a good website looks good cohesive design not overwhelming And my buddy photos, thanks Good job, thanks. I I appreciate you They look very similar, which is funny, but Yeah, I mean hey mad cat follow me on LinkedIn. Thank you. I appreciate you Uh, he looks as if we've talked about Odyssey No, and we're not going to Uh, the fact that jg does even know what Odyssey means that's such a No, no, no, isn't this the twitter gun chuba um youtube alternative No No, but Odyssey it yes, it is, but Odyssey is where the two a files live Yeah, no I am aware of it and because the UK does not care about those wars
I might have many of the files mostly printed uh, in neon pink Oh, no, this is even funnier because I run every Thursday a roleplay game Uh, the last year we've been playing cyberpunk and some of my players do not know when to shut up So instead of giving them the talking stick, I printed the talking pistols So they would have a baby pink or baby blue Uh Blocked out so none of the bits actually work. There is an obvious fake Uh, glocks That I can hand to people and be like you can now talk Have the talking system. You're in a country where the first reaction isn't to shoot So fine but No US US people Don't do that. I don't care. I can spray paint the tip of Something orange and it will still do damage It will still do damage. I don't care if it looks fake or not and I will tell you
If you happen to point An aerosoph pistol at me and we're not playing aerosoph I'm not drawing an aerosoph pistol you feel me I'm not taking a lie. I'm taking the risk I really want to start doing like weapon manufacturing just for America Because I want to see the bloody vending machine Single use pistol from cyberpunk become a real thing Just it's a plastic body pistol The magazine's pre-inserted you pull out one of those little plastic Tabs like children's toys that stop the battery from contacting So you pull out one of them it frees up the firing pin And you've got one mag worth of a pistol and you get blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah And you throw it away because it's empty. That's it. I want to see that happen So he looks at saying why not I think it's a very viable topic repose most likely get banned or bought out mainly because as a professional business We we can't tell people where to find this stuff because it becomes a liability
It's the same way that when bars would hand out matches To people and they would put those matchbooks in their car And then they would go drunk driving Well, now I know where you got your drinks from and I'm going after the bar for over serving you right We won't be the place that you get that information from because they're there becomes in my opinion my non-lawyer opinion an inherent liability associated with it I will happily tell you and Jake will happily tell you as well that you have a right To find these things, but we're not going to lead you to water. It's your choice to find the pond Maybe that's where I lost all my firearms and boating accidents but It's not our job to tell you where to find things if you want to find it There are plenty of gun tubers out there My professional stance on this is don't do dumb crap. It's that simple Right, whatever you want to do in your private time make sure it's private remember bridge ports don't snitch And you're offline 3d printers don't either your offline slicers don't either
If you're worried about this I mean as don't use private printing says Google is free exactly just use it. It's not hard. It's not a well kept secret I'm not going to tell people go print an AR-15. That's a stupid thing to do Don't do it. I mean the lower Unless you want to because that's up to you and you have free will Like you can eat your breakfast at night or order pizza for four in the morning I can't tell you what to do Why can't tell you to is at least look at the reviews because you do not want to get a three star pizza at four in the morning You will hate yourself in that morning just again You all are welcome to do whatever you want be smart about it. Don't be morons and Generally speaking if you are going to be printing two a things One know your laws right unless you possess a federal firearms license the
The firearm must be maintained in your possession. You cannot sell it You cannot gift it. You cannot even will it to somebody else. You cannot do that It must be destroyed upon your demise as a person right further Don't be stupid Right like I get it. It's it's fun Whatever I've shot my fair share of 3d printed firearms in the day I don't care I care more about this as a free speech thing and a government overreach and like having to fill out a 44 73 to buy a 3d printer That's more what I care about Okay, which is stupid by the way anyone in the legal system that is actually able to Effect this Do you guys want 3d printers helping your country because this is how you stop people from doing that Well, it's just a matter of like when is the NRA actually going to put money towards stopping this
That's all love them or hate them They're the ones that are going to save this if anybody's going to save it And I'm also a little upset because we've been making videos about the subject to but no one's been mentioning us in any of the press about it It's only been The guy who obviously has a vested interest in this not passing and Joel telling And it's like well, what the hell yeah, I'm the resident florida man here Okay, what the hell, but I mean, I'm not sure I'd entirely enjoy me being on American news Because that's kind of scary just saying y'all like y'all are crazy. Yep. Yeah, and It is because of the way that the second amendment was written It is because of the way that people are using it And I will point out that bad people are still going to do bad things whether they're restricted or not If they were going to do those bad things making it illegal wasn't going to stop them going to be clear about it The you know the drug dealers can say oops They banned us to 3d print guns Guess we're going to go file off serial numbers like we used to do oh wait
That's also a federal crime that carries a 10-year Federal prison sentence guys come on You know what criminals don't care Yeah, they're going to do it anyway. This doesn't it doesn't stop criminals All you do is you make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to do law-abiding things with their machines But as someone who from day one has told you to keep your effing machines offline All I can say here is to say I told you so I told you so I told you so You idiots you thought they're putting your machine online and allowing it to communicate to a cloud server that you don't control Was a good idea. This is exactly why it wasn't a good idea. I'm right. You're wrong Anyways, I'm moving on from the subject Uh But there are other model repositories out there if you would like to find them Google Google them it exists. I know it's hidden underneath the bullshit AI like overview Yeah, scroll down
Yeah, don't listen to the AI overview. It's bad. This is your Daily PSA AI overviews are not accurate do not trust them Verify everything it says and then still scroll down on enemy way to the original you don't want to read the AI overview I mean in an Android side agreements is honestly. I don't think any of these bills ever become law I understand the concern though totally understand but The level that some creators are going through To bring attention to it when they have their own like personal interests and Financial interests in the industry without disclosing it is unreasonably unethical in my personal opinion and that's why we will not be recommending them talking about them Even using their name here on the channel So that one time we used it already yeah, but that was what I directly called them out And I'm only gonna do it once and I because I'm not trying to get into a fight here I'm trying to tell people that when you see things like this
It's very simple follow the money. Where's the money Look go do your research on the people and you'll find what you need to find. It's that simple um So This is where we land with these big changes in Repositories Things I can see it from business perspective It's got to be I like things It's got to be dummy expensive. I like things a lot more when it searched other websites because it was really easy But all right boys Yeggy's back on the menu. I mean, I really like things because it's premium filament files If I want something that's like designed by a designer I know is gonna print gray. It looks great And it supports an actual person. I go to things Like if I want planters for my house. I'm not going to printables first. I'm going to things Because the people that are on there tend to put more effort in to the models
So and Liz brought it up earlier. I'm assuming she's not here anymore So I haven't seen her comment on it since but I guess the bundles have not been very good to The to the designers things is producing these bundles Thousands of models one subscription so they must be splitting up the money So now you're getting now as a creator your stuff is getting Throne into a bundle and now you're only getting a small percentage of it I can certainly understand why that would be frustrating. I think that's fine It's the Spotify method everybody hates it But Spotify because of its size guarantees some return on investment If you're like a small creator or it's like um Xbox Game Pass If you're a small creator or small video game designer You have the option to sell standalone on the Xbox store on the steam store
And earn your revenue through actual sales or You can give it to Xbox Game Pass or another like Game Pass subscription And you get paid An amount which is going to be on average less than you could have made But they spread it out there a lot more yep There's only like a couple hundred games on the Xbox Xbox Game Pass So by giving it to everyone for free you guarantee a user base But you're also and that makes it cheaper, but it makes you wider Well, you're you're and I can see the same Maybe I mean so it's a it's a it's a volume play um I don't know and I know I know that Game Pass just for anyone wondering because they're they're gonna Quibble me in the comments later It works by download basis on the Game Pass they get money based on the downloads not based on just doing Game Pass That's an interesting idea though
And so the bundles and it could be the same for things wait a minute. Oh, oh god I just read okay here's the bundle Access thousands of models with one subscription multiple designers thousands of 3D designs unlimited inspiration What's included for you access to thousands of models make up to 15 downloads a week. So it must be download based then Fresh content new premium models for multiple designers added regularly Discover and support designers designers get paid for every download. There it is want more subscribe to designers Premium membership for exclusive content two months free when you purchase an annual subscription It is $15 a month or 1250 a month with annual billing I don't like that I can understand I'm okay with it. I I'm okay with it in the same way that I'm okay with Game Pass when people download something the creators get paid but I can only down with 15 models a week We're power users How many people are actually download them more than 15 models a week and can print more than 15 models a week
Because you're not gonna download 15 models and print one of them. You're gonna try and print all of them If you're doing planters and it takes eight hours of planter You're not gonna have 15 variations of planters. You can have three or four the rest are gonna be burned And you don't get reselling rights Fine This isn't a subscription for resellers. This is a subscription for yourself. You know where I could see this You know where I could see this being really good kids Really good for kids Yeah It's really good for like you know My first 3d printer or something like that. You know where a kid has their first 3d printer And then that way they're not like using mommy and daddy's credit card to like $5,000 in robux Right, they're not just going through and buying all these different models the subscription. It's a great idea for a gift right a couple of months given as a gift for for a child for their first 3d printer
You're not locked in To doing this all the time you can buy it for a couple of months by but I can definitely understand why designers Might feel some type of way about it. I don't know. I Think it's not a decision for Content creators to talk about this is a specific For the designer if they want to do it. It's a bargain. They have to make It's the same with game passes You have to make the decision. Nobody can tell you otherwise. Right. I know for me personally If I was making a video game and it put a lot of effort in I wouldn't use a game pass. I wouldn't sell it to a game pass But if I was making a smaller game that could become viral I would put it on a game pass Because more people downloading it means I get more money and people already have it for free Does it mean I would have earned less if it went viral and it wasn't on game pass? Yes
But I'd rather have safety in quantity Than risking it all for higher game. I have to agree Yeah, I do and it's the same with this if I was a designer. I would probably Sign up for these These subscription things Because if I'm doing a good enough job people can download my model And it doesn't mean they have to use it. They can still download it normally anyway in reality not using the service Kind of means you just don't earn as much money Because if people are using the service and you're not on it. That's fair Then you're not going to get the downloads and if they aren't using the service They're just going to buy it from you anyway. Just use the bloody service There's no downside. I can certainly see how this could give you access to see people's paid models if there's value to it Yeah, it is it is it is game pass for 30 printing that that's what this is yeah, but yeah the The 15 downloads a week is kind of kind of odd, but that's fair. I'm vast majority of people
60 downloads a month for 15 6 right so I could math yeah 60 downloads a month for 15 bucks So on average you're looking at 25 cents a model Anything if you're really good at it in theory you could get your money's worth out of it but then Okay 25 cents per model What is the designer designer get 10 cents out of that is a designer get you know 20 cents out of that like dude that's got a hurt but I guess A penny here a penny they would have had everywhere no else yeah Yeah If they weren't going to buy the model in the first place because they can't afford Like more than 15 quid a month You've just left money on the table I I I am seeing both sides to this now I am Huh, well I would agree I think things has a nicer setup um But to be clear Things has done the same thing that every other repository is done too they've monetarily motivated people to go
um Yeah to to go uh Only them what's that what's that word exclusive exclusive exclusive uh, you know they've they've gone down that route That's the kind of stuff that Again don't hate the player hate the game I wish All the companies coming together and say hey we're not we're not gonna try to do this But I get why they would because it draws more traffic to their websites and yada yada right Yeah, it's just I don't I do think things looks nicer However Right If you click on the models on their front page like I was looking at the slime ball 2.0 fidget toy from rooven balls or bowels maybe When you click on it become a member to download. It's not free And that's not
obvious From the listing on the front page Hmm Yeah same thing with like the cinder wing the uh The tiny clover dragon Perkter small over $3.50 add download a cart or the buy now, you know single click buy now button Why does it not tell me That there's a price to it again like they're I can sit here and nitpick UIs and ux's of companies all day But at the same time my ui and ux and my website sucks and we're currently working with designers to fix it so Like you know I don't know I've ever since Printables got that full refresh. I've been using printables pretty regularly The ads kind of bother me, but I get it. They have to pay for it somehow
But if it's paid it's obvious if it's locked behind a subscription. It's obvious Right, I I don't know man every single website has its own freaking problems You know, yeah, I will say I do like things a lot more than my mini factory It's less overwell just from a search ability. It's less overwell and overwell. Also, there's a big difference Thanks has photos of parts My mini factory has grey 3d renders for their default. I would love to see You know printed models only like physical like no a i bs no renders and printables is doing that model Take a bloody picture paint the movie really one Just don't have every page be grey model slightly colored background. It looks sad Yeah, it's so sad
Uh Tulsa skin Is asking any tips or anything before I put my diamond back in my core one today now Now be careful with your thumb screws obviously on the core one loosen them But when you go to tighten them don't refund because you'll you'll you'll bend You'll put a dent in the heat break. So you know Just beyond like a quarter turn past where it stops like you know where you're just kind of lightly spitting it That's all it needs if that right Otherwise, yeah It's fine um Dreams void said don't forget to calibrate your nozzle offset. You don't need to do that. It's core one Nozzle probing homey doesn't matter. Um, it'll work perfectly Uh John S as I never I almost never download a model that doesn't have a real photo. I agree I agree um So all right Last topic since I think we're gonna leave
The lat uh the leave the five axis for next week right you think so yeah, we'll talk about it next Yeah, I think because we've been doing such a role with websites design UI user Experience let's leave something shit, but I will go on a ramp That there will be Jacob ramping. Yeah, guaranteed with this next segment. I could fill in an entire segment with this or or Do we save that for in person In person in person Because I'm even I'm announcing a product So I can show what a real product announcement looks like versus a fake one And and and and yes the john s the five axis AI 3d printer thing um Yeah, cuz we're we're gonna have an in-person live podcast at smurf On that sunday it won't be at its regular time cuz smurf will be over by then So it'll be much earlier sorry for those on the west coast of the united states Wake up early or something
Uh, but we will be doing live streams both days at smurf to raise money for the sanjay mortimer foundation Where I'll be putting my body on the line both days Jacob will be doing it on day two Uh, with me where we do a live podcast um, we might also bring in live guests too. I mean It's gonna be a single camera setup want to share mics and all that but there's no reason we can't get another person in Are we doing uh donations to make us eat some of the hot sauces randomly? So we just really don't keep up with this to you No, I don't I've been so under like dying with illness releasing a new product Yes, the just giving pages in the description. It explains everything Dice rolls so we'll have six options Five hot sauces one mystery the mystery is crowdsourced from people all over the world Ah, so please bring something so I assume you're gonna bring some twiglets or something like that Rise up. They're called the hell are they called? Yeah twiglets is a thing. I love them So uh, I hate them. I am told that uh, Olof is bringing vegemite just for you
um But make sure that you put on there Ferrier mom food allergens and things like that just in case But so there's gonna be five hot sauces and the mystery grab the mystery grab is gonna be a bowl full of pieces of paper Pull it out whatever's on it. You got to go for it unless you're allergic or dietary restrictions or all that then you go back for another dip If you don't want as many hot sauces and you want to lower your maximum spice level you add more mystery dips to it So like I want to get Adrian Boyd or sit down and talk with us I don't know how much of a hot sauce guy he is and I can't imagine that he's gonna want you know Butthole on fire hot sauce. So Like all right, how do we get the OG of 3d printing on it without like this threat of bodily injury? Well you you enable this lucky dip and for the For the guest They can choose to completely skip it for a hundred bucks. I think is what we agreed on
um But yeah, go to the just giving page all the details are there um But yeah, the dice roll six options. I've got uh I got four or five hot different hot sauces from pecs peppers. Of course use the code smurf 26 or 15% off over pecs peppers um But yeah, that's gonna be uh, yeah, I was thinking I'm looking forward to it. So I was like oh okay I've got a couple of weeks. I can build up a tolerance But I'm like, well why would I do that? So you gotta go in raw If that's what I'm thinking right people want to see me like you know Crying it like just in pain they want to see that so I probably shouldn't Like preemptively work myself into no tolerance can't do it I have a decent tolerance and I I asked pecs to not send like a 10 out of 10 because I want these questions to be good. I don't want to suggest all the sudden get distracted by how hot the hot sauces
I wanted to just be Uncomfortable questions kind of thing right now You should have had a 10 out of 10 but it somebody has to literally donate a thousand bucks then and there well That's why I'm saying the 10 out of 10 is for five five g's if we have five g's I'll do it Make me suffer five g's no no no that that also needs to be an instant button press version Not just like everyone can crowdsource it up then he's to be somebody that walks and be like now No Then if you want that then donate five grand I Got five grand. Well, then you don't need five grand for me Then you don't get it. I mean it's Look we could be at three and then someone throws two into it and then I got to do it, you know It I'm not going to sit there and just let some whale, you know Make it painful the entire time. I'm going to make you all work for it Uh, because again every single penny That comes from this goes directly to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation. We are not taking a dime
We you know, no donations or anything like that to the channel This is all to raise money for charity. We are using our channel as a way to help raise more money for a charity that we believe in And I understand that it's someone that has a background in fundraising. It's way more fun when someone who has that public exposure Goes through a little bit of um Public embarrassment if it will so you know, we did we shave my head two years ago pie face last year So this year we are going to Uh get a little bit of heat in the hot seat Um, do you want to skip the queue? I As far as I'm aware, he is not confirmed for smurf um So I really want to see if I can give get his like just what's up number or something and be like hey Joe We have an opportunity to do something funny. Can you just drop five grand right now? I can I if he if he wouldn't be watching I can send him a message How's that sound damn right that will be funny and he gets to watch me suffer them as well
Which is even funnier. Yeah double the suffering Uh, John S asking will you be the only one showing renders at the uh, so I will you be only showing renders of the product No, it will be physical grant will be getting one Grant is getting a physical product is our launch product It is a liquid. I can't take that Yeah, you can put in hold I don't want to carry you putting stuff in hold right bail it to me Ah, all right fine. I will see because I I'm bringing like eight pounds. I can I can give you one We'll figure it out and you can open it on stream then give it back smell we package it and then I'll ship it to you We'll figure it out. Yeah, we'll figure it out Um, yeah, we are There will be a physical product not just CG renders and if there are extra sauce in the bottles at the end of Sunday on day two They're going to you guys the community. So if you happen to be in live at smurf They're most likely going to be open bottles
But if you want it take it Um, so that's I am going to take several if people don't I will because I adore hot sauce But never had good hot sauce I If I have room I will bring my last dab It's painful I it's really tasty though So Rosie has a spice tolerance level of the bloody Sun I tried her not spicy curry the other day. It was the most flavorful curry I ever had and I was crying the entire dish You don't you don't use spices Hey, hey, you know my spice level you went to try it together and we were like this is white person spicy But then we did look over and gone at amber and my mom and we were like Are they okay? It doesn't handle spice amber will not be You know sitting down she might you know make an appearance, but she will not be sitting down for he didn't hot seat
Sorry, I'm not going to put her through that Unless she wants to she wants to she is more than welcome to I am not volunteering Amber to do it. I I will voluntarily tell my mom to try the last step without telling her what it is No, that's not fair. That's also probably a salt in your country. No, it's fine Just say ban in it. Yeah, guys if you do want to start the process the just giving page is below Any donations that occur before being live will be done as soon as you know like as soon as we're live Let's say there's two hundred dollars worth of rolls. We'll do them every couple of minutes That way there's you know some time in between getting questions Um, we're trying to figure out some good things to like Eliminate the spice we can't really use milk because keeping it cold Oh you HD you HD milk. What's that? You don't know what you ultra Wait, no, no, no, you broke my mind for say do you not know what you HD milk is?
I don't know what the word stands. What's what's your HD stand for Um, it's basically ultra hot processing of the milk when it's being pasteurized It's it's a high-temperature pasteurization step Which means it's shelf stable without being in a fridge Well, I just said I want to get marks and Spencer's to just donate a bunch of their Uh, chocolate Smoothies that are like 800 calories a bottle because that's that's throat coat right there, baby. You'll handle everything Um Yeah, there we have four bottles of two the moon of two the moon I don't know if I can bring all of them because I want to bring a couple of my personal bottles from my collection Um, but yeah, we have a few. I'll see what I can do. Yeah, I'm surprised you don't know what you HD is Dude, they're trying to get rid of pasteurized milk in the United States. You're telling me that I'm going to know what ultra Okay, okay, so you know when you go to like a premier in and they've got those little milk packets I've only been to one premier in when you put us up in one
But holiday in It's called milk. So you've never been to a cafe and they got little milk packets on the table. No What They have you a country backwards man. We got milk and packets. What's it called in the US? I want to know what it's called in the US Because like and I to be clear. I'm not a big milk person I'm like mildly lactose intolerant which reminds me I should get some lactation which is even better a lot Uh, no, no one of the UHD milks you can get literally from every store you can Coffee cream or coffee creamers like that. It's a dairy. No coffee crime is different Night's dear primer is different Does my primer very different thing Very different Okay, it's called ultra pasteurized. Okay. I know what ultra pasteurized is okay. There you go. Diner has half That's in packets. Yeah, but that's that's creamer. Isn't it half and half? Well, yeah, that's no Okay, my wife but no half and half then yes. Okay. All right. I got it. I got it
Yeah, bottle vodka. I would be so drunk by the end of that stream and nobody I've never been drunk before and I'm like Really worried that I could there's like all these different types of drunk you could be I'm like What if I'm the bad type of drunk? So I've never been drunk. Oh, we got to find out I am you know what? I will ask my cousin you bruise while you know They may they make the nicest wine you've ever tasted. It's so sweet. It's like juice I had half a bottle normally I can drink two four bottles of wine before I see it anything half a bottle I'm like oh god guys the fridge is calling for me. I I know my limits, right? I've had the most I've ever had in one go was nine drinks and I'm like That's starting to hit I think we're good and I stopped and these were liquor drinks. These weren't like nine beers These were liquor drinks at a party There's only like a year and a half two years ago too. It was very recent But yeah Whatever I'm not gonna not gonna get too deep. Let's let's do our last topic this happened this week
Printed solid who is the film and sponsor of this show and if you want to win some print it's all filmed now worth more money Uh, you can check him out pin chat message and all that um, let me get the actual Message yeah, you got to bring up what happened. Well, I mean I'm not what happened. I mean they sent out an email saying they're raising prices. That's Yeah, but like how much what was the change? Yeah, let me um because if it's like 50 pens That's all right. If it's 10 quid That's a different story Yeah, okay I'm just gonna read the whole thing verbatim because it's probably just easier to do it Thank you for being a valid customer of print and solid. We truly appreciate the trust Do you have placed in us to support your 3d printing needs One of the things we are very proud of around here is our line of Jesse premium filaments a community favorite It's one of my favorites too When we are currently in the midst of doing a
Custom custom color with them We have been keep we have been doing our best to keep the cost of Jesse as low as possible for our customers However, we have come to the point where we have to make a change Effectively immediately we will we will be adjusting the prices A four Jesse premium filaments the new pricing is as follows 2499 for one kilo spool of PLA or PETG and 2999 for one kilo spool of elixir This decision was not easy for us to make we have never had a price increase on Jesse since we introduced the product line However with the change economy and rising costs we had to make a price change or end the product line We chose to keep the line running This price allows us to continue delivering the high level of quality reliability You have come to expect from Jesse premium filaments and keep it 100% made in the USA We understand that any price increase is never easy to absorb and are committed to ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible To help offset your increase costs with this pricing change
We have added discount code save on Jesse in all caps all three words a save space on space Jesse To give you 10% off your next order of five or more roles of Jesse premium filament the code expires 315 2026 Or march 15th I should say because you do your dates backwards once again We thank you for allowing printed solid to be your trusted partner for your 3d printing needs We love 3d printing and want to help you love it as much as we do if there's anything we can do to help you with your 3d printing Please reach out to us best Chris Polesky CSMO printed solid incorporated a Prusa research company Ha okay Substantial price increase 25% How when was the last time they raised their prices never So lower than two years So they brought out to ptg at 2199 a kilo but they lowered it like a year and a half two years ago
To be the 1999 or 20 bucks a kilo to match the PLA price Yep, and now it's gone back up to like 25 quid Yep Oh, it's a bit steep I will say it is it is and and it At $20 a kilo there is Very very little out there that touched it on price Made in America and there was even there was only a few that were cheaper than it from Known manufacturers out of China Right, I think TARDIS Griffin has it right the lower cost market has gone really good yes bamboo lab filament dirt cheap Elegoo filament dirty Doesn't do people care I do no they just want filament So you're we a power users we we we have to never forget that we are specialists in our field Where we care and know about everything
But most of the buyers probably don't they want to stick to a brand that they know is good. Yeah, and preferably cheap 25 bucks for real that's getting up there when you can get 12 to 15 bucks for real Yeah, and then you know even further the made in USA procurement Is let me see a fault because they have a lot of oh they only do refills in two kilos. Okay, the two kilo rolls Of procurement made in America's 50 bucks. It's 25 bucks a kilo for made in America procurement If you want two kilo rolls you're able to handle that um, you know and so now And yes, they charge shipping, but it's I think it's over is it over 45 or over 50 that it's free It's not All that simple for me to find on the website anymore used to be on the top of the website um but You know they they they do free shipping over some I think it's two or three rolls gets you free shipping
It is still more affordable than protoposta, but protopost has never been about crazy affordability on their filament um It's like okay It sucks right because I A 10% increase I can understand 25% Well, I could have gone away with 15 and been like it's a inflationary increase for this year next year But I do understand that like going to 2299 It's just it's just it's just a bad number. It's just a bad number you know And now with I don't know man It's like I really do love printed solid. I love their filament But it makes them considerably less competitive in the industry so polar filaments going to be one of their biggest competitors They are now more expensive than polar
Now poly makers kind of right in that same range But some of poly makers made in China some of it's made in America. It depends Um There's zile tech which is cheaper. Zile tech's always been cheaper They recently moved to made in America, but we're not certain If zile tech is Respooled in America or if it's actually extruded in America, so we're we're not certain on big difference Yeah, we're not certain there. There's push plastic icy 3d atomic filament American plastics. There's so many USA manufacturers and unfortunately Printed solid just kind of priced them Selves much higher on the tier and they make good filament like I've talked about it before We wouldn't be working with them. We wouldn't go visit them like we do And they wouldn't be sponsoring us if it wasn't something that we used every single day here in the shop
But at 25 and 30 bucks a kilo Now there's decisions that I'm I'm like Do I need this because like a $20 bill from a business perspective is throw away $20 is like oh, I'm getting down to two rolls of sole black glitter. Let me go ahead and order five more in Well, now I'm gonna wait till I'm down to one roll and I'm gonna maybe order four rather than five It changes. I mean literally it's I was getting one more roll for free when I was buying five rolls Right, so now the same price of five rolls is now only four It's a bummer It is a bummer and the effective immediately thing. I think is what stings the most for me Because like give me at least a week so I can clear out if you a chance to put a Let me let me clear out your inventory And you know what really sucks. I just sold some of our inventory to somebody At
Because like they're like oh, yeah, we just bought a printer. We need a bunch of filament I'm like well, we don't normally do it But here here's kind of like what we can get rid of in our inventory because it's been sitting on the shelf for a little bit And I didn't place the reorder Yeah, so I actually lost money on that deal That is what it is And yes net seven ruins has it's approaching a atomic filament pricing and to be clear I still think that atomic filament starry night is my favorite color of any filament. It is a dark translucent blue With silver metal flake in it. It is so effing pretty. It is so pretty. I love that color. It is my favorite color But at $33 a kilo It's a it's a choice It's not something that I just gravitate toward because it's affordable And And so it's like okay, if you can handle two kilo rolls
Help me out. Why would you buy Jesse if the same colors you wanted are available in Made in America, Prushaman? Yeah, it's hard to say I'd rather get Prushaman If Prushaman is I think one penny more expensive. Yeah, it is one penny more expensive. I Trust the brand of Prushaman a lot more than pretty much any other brand And that's the problem Prushaman has very good market value And I don't even know if it's true or not It doesn't matter because they sold me the brand that Prushaman is high quality So I'm going to trust its high quality even though like Hell I know the guys are 3dQF My I use them as my primary filament supplier. Yep I know the exact blends that they put in we've talked about it. I even know like the extrusion temperatures. I know their pressures Even them Bang line like this isn't to like dis them. I actually think they're one of the best brands on the market and they're really undervalued
I know everything about them. I still put Prushaman above them And I don't know anything about Prushaman And I that's just the brand recognition working Well, and I guess if you don't care about colors The Is a lithov Oh, I think the lithovane Bundle hasn't been updated on its price Um the transition spools are still 20 bucks a kilo Uh, what does this it's four kilos for 85. Yeah Yeah, it's still it's still pretty affordable to lithovane But it's pure magenta pure cyan yellow bird and quarter white like unless you really need those colors You know Um But yes, as Andrew Roger says print it's all it uses the same raw stock as Prushaman So and why wouldn't they I mean they're being made under the same roof literally next to each other So why would you carry two different raw stocks when you can use the same raw stock
um And yes, as Matt Matt Weber says uh, that doesn't mean anything when production QC in such as what matters It's true um And to be clear if you do order the two kilo rolls from printed solid They don't have the perfect winder for the two kilo rolls. They are not perfectly wound So if you're looking for perfect wind filament you don't get it Okay, sorry, okay, you don't need perfectly wound filament. I know as long as it's not tangled It's completely fine, but it is kind of nice. It's just it's like I don't care what it looks like as long as it comes off the spool fine You know what I love about Uh, Prussaman wheels is that I can just take the filament out and put in any of the holes on the wheel So I it doesn't get untangled that is like the ultimate thing That's all I care about really the fact that I could just pull it out putting It's I dare say this because I've had such a hit and miss like usage reputation with the UZY filament company Uh
But they use the same like spool design where it's just hexagon pattern with holes in it It's good. I like it. I've been using a lot more of their stuff and once I realize they've they've done some weird blends I've been able to really dial in their filament and it's been working great but So I I love the real I guess school is great tilted my camera. I guess I can show it on camera too. So I recently found oh, that's a fibrology roll roll it's sun low Really? Yep, this is sun low. And this is a three kilo roll It's not a one kilo to three kilo. It's a very similar with all the holes Ah plastic locking so they don't sell refills These are the best effing rolls I have ever used for extension cords. You know why? You put the end on the short side when you want to undo it Drop it out extension cord
Absolutely brilliant And then you don't have to worry about it being too difficult to unroll or this thing whipping it mock Jesus Yeah So sunloo is now our fourth choice for PETG and If you notice I now use roller spools roller holders up above me So we use ball bearing rollers for these because Machines on a center can't pull this like it it's too heavy So the the ball bearing rollers are are what work the best and Works for two kilo works for three kilo I've got a bunch of ABS showing up today Um, it was really cheap. It was sunloo ABS on their old white spools For less than ten bucks a kilo delivered and five kilo rolls So I'm like ooh ht90 food Um to do just like personal projects and stuff like that but because like there's no warping No warping at all huge ABS parts zero warping. It's it's awesome
but It does it like this price increase kind of hurts, right? I'm not gonna stop supporting printed solid But it is it's now less of a You know throw my my my business credit card at it by now. It's now a considered push It is it is more of a considered purchase now. It's a bummer But I get it cost of everything are going up and the cost of people is going up too And I also really have gotten used to these sunloo three kilo rolls and not having to switch out Rolls is really nice like the custom color we're doing with printed solid. I'm like all right How difficult is it for you To wind me larger than one kilo rolls Because the bulk of the pieces that we print in are over one kilo each And the thing I don't like doing is having to wake up in the middle of the night Go to the shop to switch out the spool and I don't want to switch it out before I go to bed
Because then I have like half a spool now that I'm gonna end up with like a bunch of partial spools I don't want that Paying the ass So I'm trying but we are working on a on a custom color. It's basically quarter white their PLA which is white PLA with a quarter of the colorant But PETG That'll be nice. It's closer to a half white from from what my testing is showing I don't Have it current sitting in the ht90 right now. I don't I it's not like Been running in the ht90 because I need to really abuse the ht90 to get A good understanding of it a better understanding of it But uh Yeah, we're working on that custom color. I'm like oh now that custom color just got more expensive So I'd be like hey, how many rolls do I need to order? So I get my old pricing Yeah, I feel you and I really feel you to be clear And this is something and it's why we work with printed solid. I have a code for printed solid that gives me
Unlimited filament Whatever that order is it's free I could use it But I don't use it for my business because the business makes money And I should not be taking advantage of someone giving us filament for the youtube channel or filament to give away When you know, I'm using it for profit. That's not how this works. So Yeah, it's a bummer. I get it. Their new facility is massive Right So there's a part to that as well the huge facility But yeah Yeah Um People are speculating regarding if this is why Dave left Um, it's hard to say we don't know. Yeah, we don't know Uh Yep, yeah, I'm trying to think of what I can say and what I can't say
We don't know. I think the best thing is don't say. Yeah, we don't actually know everything we do know is almost definitely just confidential and It's also not from the direct sources and I was wrong so when when when I first went I would have guessed that That Joe Prussia was not going to be the CEO of print and solid. He's the he's the interim I would have guessed it was going to be Chris. I would have guessed Chris as the CSMO would have been interim CEO because he's there But I guess it does kind of make sense that Joe becomes interim CEO Um Dave was on Taylor stream, but was very polite and no one asked He was in the chat. Yeah, and you know what? Good Don't harass the man. He's made a decision Respect it. It's that simple. Yep Defy 3d has an opinion that I have kind of here too
Upping the price is just an excuse to discontinue it. It will be gone in 12 months I am H.O. Now Prussia are on the scene and their own filament more so Yeah, I can see it Why excuse of why keep Jesse around because Jesse's named after Dave's dog Dave's gone Why should Jesse stay when we can just can we can just see the thing is they're totally different extrusion lines The Jesse extrusion lines can't Make Prushima They're not Prushima lines So are they just going to get rid of those if so I know the I know people that would buy them in a heartbeat because they're mod The the modifications that Dave does to those lines is incredible and we've talked about There's an entire video of us going through with Dave one of these machines And showing what he does to them Uh, Matt weaver says add Jesse colors to Prushima color line discontinue Jesse
Hmm, I don't know my main sense easier I guess if your raw stock is the same It's not that difficult, but I don't think Like I don't did you see the the new Prushima color this week? No Your background says you did Oh It's the highest glow in the dark pigment by by percentage of any filament on the market Really really It is also like 80 bucks a kilo Ah yeah But to be fair if I'm buying glow in the dark I know why I got myself into in the first place, but it is Prushima glow in the dark I'm so curious so we're going to Prague When we're out for smurf so I'm gonna see if I there are some questions I have about it like where's the strontium illuminate coming from Is it is it a local source is it Chinese source where is it coming from and I want to see
I Want to look at it. I don't know if I really want to film it right now But how they're dealing with the amount of wear that happens to your machines when you use that much uh, you know abrasive materials so um yeah I mean So Jason Piot says there's a place in Prushima strategy for an alternative brand slash price point look at buddy 3d Spuddy 3 is not produced by Prushima. It's produced by somebody else, but may buy Polish company if I remember and you know they they've rebranded I would rat I would personally I think I think it would make sense discontinue buddy Rename Jesse to buddy which is gonna suck because it's another dog name um And then lower the price because like how is buddy now cheaper than printed solid How is buddy now cheaper than Jesse I don't get it
CZ Oliver says back to you already I've never been during the win. I've never been during the spring and It was three hundred dollars less per person To fly to Manchester through Prague Then it was to fly directly to Manchester So So I'm taking that six hundred dollars and I'm gonna spend a couple of days in Prague Because why not I love it. We've got a ton of friends there We can go spend time with those friends hang out with them if we do some I there's now business meetings that are being set up great But um Yeah, it's a workcation it always is with us Yep, there's no such thing as a vacation. It's always a workcation. Mm-hmm Do you medise as search for the s1 plus automatic filament loader for your high demand roles? Yeah We've thought about it um, I know big tree tech is coming out with one. There's another one on the market. I know uh
Melo has one I need one that operates on its own and I think the mellow one does I want to look at the big tree tech one. I figure they're going to have them at smurf. So I'm going to talk to Luke at smurf um The app the Prague is Prague is beautiful in the winter, but it's very gray Right, so I want it. I want to see during the day gorgeous, but go ahead and if I have to fly through there so like we're flying to Prague Getting our bags going right back in Getting on a jet to holiday over to uh Manchester So That's how we're doing it Should be good. Yeah, I think we have like a halt minute in theory. We have like three hours worth of layover Or no six hours worth of layover in Prague So I'm giving myself like if I wanted to go do something stupid I could hop on public transit. I have 90 minutes to get over to perucia and just
Like hi, I'm leaving. Oh god. I just smack my microphone. I'm so sorry like hi. I'm leaving and then run out the door again That's a terrible idea. It is a terrible idea. We're probably not going to do it We might we might leave the airport go get us go get a bike to eat that then go back because it's all done under public transit Um, but yeah, so it was $300 per person less Because we're getting a Delta flight and It's and it's way better than Iceland air So the only way for us to fly to Manchester relatively cheap is Iceland air And we had such a bad flight with them last time on our way back From I think uh, where was it? Oh, um After form next we flew Iceland air back and it was Terrible. It was absolutely terrible We were rushed the seats were not very comfortable amber seat was broken um
It went and they almost never run the AC on the planes. I'm okay with that, but it gets it gets a little hot even for me I'd rather fly Delta The two of us Too Prague on Delta from Tampa Iceland air I got to go to Orlando, which is an hour and a half away and the parking is more expensive Was a little over a thousand dollars Oh Total oh Round trip That's not that's all that that's no no the maybe said round trip. I'm like yeah, it's not and it's delta That's 500 quid and it's delta that's pretty good We do have one layover we have a layover in uh Amsterdam, but it's like a two-hour layover no big deal Uh, yeah, and now pre TSA pre-checking global entry or off because of the shutdown So going to Orlando does me no good So um, I could save two hours on my drive time
And I get to go to my local airport which their economy parking is covered Which is much my preference sounds good um Rosa Braga says as a native Icelander Iceland air sucks. Yes, they do, but they're cheap and When we travel and we don't like the trip to smurf is not sponsored currently We are accepting sponsors if sponsors would like to pay us to go to smurf. We would love To have sponsors assist us in getting there But if it's not if we don't have sponsors, I and I mean even if we do I still try to book the cheapest flights I can Right, but there is a certain level of my comfort as someone with a bad back that I have to consider and this is it Uh, and not only did I save $600 by flying Delta I know Delta's gonna be a better flight and I can get trading cards on Delta That is true. I love those trading cards I got to sit in a cockpit of an airplane last time. What? Okay, you have yours on your desk. I have my trading cards. Nice. Nice. I'll see if I can get you some from this one too
Um But yeah, the plane tourism if people couldn't tell 3dp Iceland says can confirm I'm from Iceland wouldn't have guessed And Iceland airs pretty lame rake as going to rakey vick has been beautiful both times. We've never stayed long enough for it to matter Right, we've just been on a layover, but we get to like step outside for a little bit and it's beautiful Um, but yeah, going home from Germany was so stressful We had an hour to get through customs We made it but damn it we were running Uh, and I don't like that so uh so uh Look don't moan my my train fare to smurf feels like a an airfare price west whales to Manchester is far more expensive than it should be defy 3d says Look at a cheap flight. Yeah, it's way too expensive No, no
Grant this isn't America. We don't have cheap flights. You have right airs. Shut up. You have cheap flights No, we don't have in for city flight that that isn't a thing Isn't a thing in the UK If you're doing that you're rich you could fly from Birmingham to Manchester It's like 200 bucks Well, the train will be like 85 which is still way too expensive. It's a time thing though It's a time thing But then it's also Ryan air and they're going to charge you for everything so Which is why we chose jet too we could have flown Ryan air for less. I'm like no No, I'm not going to deal with the with the people sizing up my bags. Nope. F you not I still can't believe I was scammed by easy jets leaving Prague Yeah Like I check the website says free included bag Plus one luggage bag and they're like oh the free included bag is a typo. I'm like no it ain't
Well, the hell you playing that I would have got like well if you don't pay now with throwing your thing out I'm not I don't care. I'm paying it. I'm getting on this flight Uh, Matt to make a face as he's paying 65 quid for for two days parking for smurf jeez Oof You're paying an ncp car park your your airbnb was a good price We're staying at thealdrin You know, I it was the one we stayed at last time Uh, got a decent rate. I think I was pretty happy with it given how long we're going to be there About a hundred bucks you got free parking as well do they Yeah, got free parking with it. Oh, I do 40 but no me. Oh, you should have free parking. Muldron always has free parking Is attached to the hotel. I'm not driving. I'm just going to walk everywhere. Oh fat. Yeah, we're going to fucking parking before We're going to take the train down and then we're going to go to the hotel like we did last year. It's great. Yeah. Um, but yeah, you know, I, I understand why pretty solid did it. Their new building makes sense to me that, yeah, you got to raise rates, but the back of my mind says, wait a minute.
Now it's just as expensive as Prussiamin. Is this the slow by Prussiamin, the slow like, well, you have very few colors for the Made in America Prussiamin. So you're, you're very limited, but is this, is this slow wind down of Jesse that we're seeing Probably. It's the sun setting of a product. I would love to see Prussiam bring out elixirs as well. That way you in the, you know, in the EU could get access to much better silks. The elixir line is so much better. But yeah, it's a bummer. I love printed solid. Um, so like, I'm very conflicted on this. Right. But it does go from like a, oh, while I'm at it, I'll just buy this too. Okay. It's got to be a little bit more careful. So. That's all I got, man. That is all I got. It's been a good one today. I'm, I am looking forward to having the Lord lecture on another fake Kickstarter in person. Yeah, probably dying with hot sauce.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, and that's why it'll be way more fun to do it in person. Um, that's it. And CZ Oliver, um, DM me on discord. It's just at 3D musketeers on discord. Let's see if we can get together when we're in prod this time. Take us, you know, to show me, show me somewhere interesting when we're in Prague. I don't know. Take me, take me somewhere where tourists don't go. Would you think is super cool. I'll pay for it. I don't care. Uh, but I always like when locals like they're like, oh, yeah, let's just go this time. I'm like, all right, whatever. It's an adventure. Let's go. Yeah, DM me on discord or something. Um, and I'm still waiting for silver fox. I'm still waiting. Look at this. Look at silk. Look at how pretty that is. That's gorgeous. Yeah. Yeah. We made this. We made this like three years ago, dude, or two years ago. Look at that. I still see now you've got me thinking about all the cool places we went to in Prague. And I really want to go eat more, more food. It was so good. So good.
Sorry. The flight isn't that expensive. I can tell you when, oh, no, you've got a thing. You can't go. You've got a military thing. Yeah, so you can't go with NATO. Yep. All right. Doing a cool last thing. Let's end this. Let's give away some filament. And we'll send these people to go hang out with Mr. Steve builds. You guys haven't please, you know, enter in there. If you do win in the UK and EU, we will get you a roll of filament from 3D Prima. Uh, because Glenn hasn't agreed to it. But if he doesn't, I'll pay for it. Uh, or we can take that money and donate it directly to the SMF in your name. Or you, I guess, yeah, then we'll do it for the lucky, uh, for the thing or you can get a shirt if you prefer. So it's up to you. Enter anywhere in the world. It is mostly for printed solid here in the States, but I'm not going to limit it now that Glenn is around. So Jacob, you want to take us out? You want me to do it? Certainly. So remember everyone, like, comment and subscribe to this video. We do this for free on YouTube and press in the like button. Doesn't cost anything.
Next one should be quite a good one. Uh, because there's going to be a rant in it. No matter what I can get you that, especially the one in person that's smurfing. Oh, no, I'm just saying there will be a rant. Oh, yes. I love ranting. It's like my character thing is I rant now. But the smurf one in two weeks will be in person. So definitely like and subscribe to see that. Don't forget to look at our lovely sponsors. Of course, we've got 3D Musketeers himself standing over there because he makes the channel. He brings me on. Check out concert 3D. Check out. Uh, uh, there's printed solid printed solid. There we go. I was going to say the actual paintings of what they make for the smf. Yeah, just giving shout out pecs peppers. Shout out 3D Prima. What we got. Yeah. So of course, everybody stay safe out there. Don't forget to call your loved ones. And as always, keep making awesome because you are awesome. Yeah.
