They Were Both Keeping the Same Ghost Secret | Real Ghost Stories CLASSIC
About this episode
Real Ghost Stories Online is made possible by:
For a while, neither of them said anything. They both saw things in their home. They both heard things. But each quietly wondered whether it was better to keep those experiences to themselves.
Then something happened in the kitchen that neither could explain away.
That moment opened the door to everything they had been avoiding: the shadowy woman moving from room to room, footsteps where no one was walking, unexplained objects appearing, and encounters that became far more personal than either of them wanted.
Eventually, they called in a paranormal investigation team hoping for answers. Instead, the investigation suggested there might be more than one presence in the house—and one of them seemed to have been waiting in the basement all along.

Everything is going pretty well. I'm kind of interested in this whole story about whispering a name of somebody. Yeah, somebody that's not there. Michael, you know, I heard that one time and it's a buddy.
Oh, but see, you knew buddy. Yeah, buddy was my dog and that was creepy. It's disgusting. So you didn't get all the snow that we got. You know, living in the middle of Kansas, we used to get a lot more snow than we get these days. So it's not uncommon for it to not snow until January. That's not uncommon at all. And so this is right after Thanksgiving, this is that Thanksgiving weekend. So it started snowing yesterday, Saturday, it started. And we got, I just looked officially, 7.8 inches of snow. Wow. That's a bunch. It was a lot. It was a lot. And my poor dog is little and he's 15 pounds, 14.8. And I got home last night, a treacherous drive home. I almost got stuck in my driveway, but I made it. And I get home and I open the door to let him out.
And I'm like, oh crap. And there's like this snow drift. And so I had to go get the shovel and shovel him a path. So he can go to the bathroom because a poor little guy like, he can't even lift up a leg. Yeah. Oh no. Poor bend. Poor bend. Poor bend. So yeah, we got a lot of snow. We didn't like a trace really half inch maybe tops. Yeah, and it was a crazy snow storm because they were like, it's going to snow and it looks like it could be a lot. And they even said at one point, it could separate. The line could separate in the middle of my town to where one side of the city could get like two inches. The other side could get like nine. So we pretty much got blind. The whole city got blanketed. Wow. But it was saving grace here as it wasn't windy. Yes, it was. Because it is windy almost every single day in Kansas.
Yeah. So then that would have been a blizzard and that would have been a blizzard. It was kind of a nice pretty snow actually. But it's just weird. We never get snow like that this time of year. Very strange. Very strange. So you want to hear a ghost story? I do. And I'm interested in this thing, somebody's name that you don't know. So this says, my husband and I experienced several things happening in our home that actually led us to call an investigative team that confirmed much of what we were experiencing. I think sometimes, even if you call in someone to investigate, you might get a confirmation. If you're lucky, sometimes you don't get anything. They might come in. It's not like you spirits are going to be there just because you got investigators there. Right. They're going to show up when they show up. That's right. But the confirmation, I think, sometimes would be good. So you know, it's not you being crazy.
I don't know. That's kind of validating and maybe that would give me to move because I'm like, oh, I'm not crazy. Shit. I got to move. So this says we live in a two family home and occupy the first floor with access to the basement. For a short while, we were both seeing and hearing things and not saying anything to the other. But then we began to share what we were experiencing. The sharing began with knives. That might be the creepiest sense I've ever read. The share began with the knives. Okay. I need to. Okay. Getting at the kitchen table, doing some work while he was cooking, we keep our knives on a magnetic strip on the wall for easy access. He had taken a knife down to chop some veggies and then realized he needed a different knife. He turned to take another and all of the knives had flipped and we're now hanging blade
down instead of handle down. He called out to me, why would you do that? I could have hurt myself. And then he realized I was still across the room and I never even moved from the table. That was when we started to admit that we had both seen and heard several things in the house. We have both seen a woman, always from the corner of our eyes, never straight on moving from room to room. We know it's a woman from the shape and size, but she is usually in a shadowy form. The only time we have seen her full on is in the bedroom. Once she stroked his arm while he was in bed and when he looked, she was standing beside him. Oh my God. That would be so creepy. And I'd like to know what she looked like when he saw her. I don't know. But you know, was she kind of translucent?
Did she seem really solid? Like, you know, pale? Like, I would like to know. It doesn't say. Okay. And then it just says that he saw her and then another time I heard the floor boards creak. They only creak near the door, nowhere else in the room. And it woke me. I was like, I'm going to get you. It could be either one of those things. Yeah. I was so terrified that it couldn't even scream. It was one of those squeaky noises that escapes your throat, what feels like strangled air. I don't know that I've ever had that feeling. Other events began to happen. I was sitting at the kitchen table again doing work when I felt a breath on my face and
then the name Michael whispered next to me. Every hair on my body stood at attention. Neither of us are named Michael. Weeks later, my husband was sitting at the computer in the den when he came in to get something to drink. I was in the living room. He went back to the den, then came out holding a clothespin. It was very old and very weathered. It looked like the kind our mothers used way back when the wooden kind with a metal clip, though this one looked much older and very fragile. He came over to me and asked me why I put it on his desk and I told him I hadn't moved from the living room at all. Well, it wasn't there two minutes ago, he said. We shrugged, but we were spooked and put it in a basket on top of the refrigerator. About a week later, we were telling friends about the clothespin and as we were relating the story, it popped out of the basket and landed on the floor and broke into two pieces.
We just stood there staring at it. Neither of us wanted to touch it. Though eventually, we contacted this team to come and investigate the house. They were absolutely amazing and very professional. They picked up a woman's voice on an EVP that seemed to be responding to questions as to each other. They also picked up footsteps. But the strangest thing that was recorded that night was in the basement. We were all upstairs talking and in the 12 years we've lived here. There's never been a noise or sound or anything unsettling occurring from the basement. That is surprising, isn't it? Yeah. Because that's my number one. Yeah, my class. At a basement closet. Yeah, at a basement closet in that order. Oh my God. That is weird, especially how do that kind of activity? Yeah. That's interesting. Okay, but they picked up on it. So maybe they're had been.
They just said never heard anything. But they had just set up the recording equipment down there. And we were all in the kitchen getting ready to start the investigation when a very loud crashing came from the basement. As we made our way to the door, the audio recorder picked up the clear sound of a man whistling, almost as if he was taunting us to come down the stairs. It wasn't a frightening sound. It was welcoming. If it could be considered such, but we didn't hear that sound until after they reviewed the tapes. When we investigated the basement, there was nothing falling over. Nothing that would have caused the crashing sound. Everything was in place. But every time we were standing still in the basement, footsteps could be heard on the recording. We have not heard a crash or sound again. I know there are several other things that I'm leaving out. Perhaps I should save those for phone call or another right in.
But we feel as if we can now coexist with the spirits here, except for the knife incident, which no one was actually hurt. So that's good. They don't seem malicious at all. But the man seems to stay in the basement. So the whistling guy, I guess. And the woman seems to stroll the first floor. Our dog will sometimes toss a toy as seemingly nothing or stand in a doorway and look at something in bark. Something we do not see at all. Well, thanks for reading this long story. I hope you can use it. I listened to you at the gym instead of music now. That's from Joe. Interesting. Interesting. The knife thing would totally freak me out. Because that sounds like something right off of the Omen or the Exorcist or any scary movie in certain age of movie here. But we may have our answer to Michael now. Michael's the dude in the basement. Right. Don't you think?
He's not scary. Well, let me go back to that part of the story. I, you know, I guess he's not scary. I don't know. I just thought of a guy in the basement whistling. But that I find scary. But they said they did not seem to feel afraid of him. Yeah. And when she heard the name Michael, she didn't or he, I guess Joe wrote this, when he heard the name Michael, doesn't say if he was scared or anything, said every hair on my body stood at attention. So I'm going to guess that is Michael. It is super creepy though that they both saw a woman on their side of the bed. Yeah. That's creepy. That's creepy. Yeah. Now, am I in reaching out? Yeah. I don't like that. And my dog is always tossing toys straight up in the air.
It looks like he's playing with somebody, but he ain't. He's just playing toys with himself. And I have had dogs that sit and bark at the wall or space or as if they see somebody that they're barking at him, but there's nothing there. And that is super unnerving because they see something. But they've lived in this house for all these years. Like that's a long time. I can't imagine. And now they said that they live on one floor and that somebody else lives on the other. Like didn't they act like this was a two. Yeah. So did the other people ever have anything happen? Is that what they do? They do not say. But I think, I mean, that is kind of weird. I mean, I want to talk to them. You know, and I realize sometimes that you say something and then people think you're batshit crazy. You know, for saying it. Exactly. And so maybe you're nervous about saying something. But, you know, if there's some way you could just get around to saying, you know, do you
know, do you know, do you notice anything or hear anything weird or, you know, just kind of, I don't know how you would do it exactly, but throw something out there to see if there's anything with them. Yeah. If they kind of know them, maybe it'd be cool. Yeah. Because like, I get it. Like they, like they said, we didn't even tell each other that we were seeing things. And that's what, you know, you do. Like when you live with other people, you think, well, I don't want them to think I'm, you know, not a year crazy. So I, you know, it's just me that they're not saying anything. Nothing must be wrong. It must just be me. And, you know, I'm just like, I don't know, you know, here and top. But it's not. And, but then with the knife thing, then something happens like that, you know, like a big thing, like the knives and turn around and go, what the heck? You just turn on, you know, like, and then you realize that the other person didn't and now all of a sudden it's out there.
You both have to admit you've been hearing and seeing things that I would love to know if the people that live in the other part of the building are having any similar events happen. And depending on how close you are, because if you really don't know them, then it might be uncomfortable to ask. But my neighbor's and I just had a conversation about ghosts. Yeah, that's right. That you guys did. And I don't know that I can't even tell you their names. I should know. I should have asked. You should have asked that. But, you know, when people are talking about, you know, angels of death, you know, and things, it's hard to like, you know, stop and think of proper etiquette at that moment. Like, what was your name again? And get back to the angel of death, the pain in on the wall and your basement story. What? That's still so strange to me. Okay. So I don't know. I think that I would, I don't know. I guess if you've lived there for 12 years or however long it been, it was quite a while.
Maybe you're just used to it and you're cool with it. But I don't know. Which is good. If, you know, if you're comfortable and it's not bothering you, you know, awesome. Yeah. But seeing each of you seeing a woman on the side of your bed, like, no, no, I don't want that. I know. Like I could handle Michael, like, like Michael in the basement, if you just are Michael. And then, then you got this delightful guy whistling and you weren't afraid of it. That's one thing. But waking up or seeing someone or they touch your arms, stroking is what it said. Yeah. I don't like that. I don't like it at all. Well, here is our next story. Hey guys, thanks for taking my call. I'm kind of excited to share with you. I have always been sort of sensitive to, I don't really know what to call it, the unknown, I guess.
I was raised by my grandparents and my grandma always told me not to be afraid of things that I can't explain. And coincidentally, we owned a restaurant that I grew up in. And the restaurant was haunted and several people had had sightings of this man who actually built a lot of buildings around our small town. And so I would have a lot of experiences as a child, three, four, five years old with her and she would always tell me, you know, don't be afraid of things moving around and whatnot. Well, one day when I was in the car with her, we lived in a rural area in Oklahoma and it was evening time in the summer. I was probably about seven or eight years old at this point. And we're driving and just the two of us on a two-length country road paved road. But I'm looking out the window in the sky and I see there are no other crowds in the
sky at all and I see this giant pair of what looks like butterfly wings in the sky. And I tell her, Graham, look, look in the sky, look at those butterfly wings. And she kind of blows me off like, yeah, I always see it, that's nice. And I said, look, you didn't even look. And by that time you could see an entire formation. And it was this massive, I can't even describe to you how large it was in this guy, massive angel. You've had a head, no face. I didn't see a halo. I didn't see any arms or legs. This huge, just gigantic pair of wings and what looked like a big, full dress. And she slowed way down on the road. We couldn't stop because there was no shoulder, any place to pull over. And so she slowed down. We're probably going 20 miles an hour just crawling, watching this. Like I said, no other clouds in the sky at all. And it was kind of pink colored like the sunset.
So it wasn't white like a cloud, the outline of it had a pink cast to it. And we watched it until it faded away. And most clouds will distort when they fade away. This one just got dimmer and dimmer and dimmer until you couldn't see it anymore. The moment it faded away, we had come around a curve on this road. And there was an 18-wheeler on our side of the road. And we actually laid on the horn and had to go off in the ditch a little bit, nothing too traumatic. But we did have to run off the road and kind of stop and regroup a little bit. And he pulled over also and actually came back to see if we were OK until this that he had dosed off and was so apologetic and helped us get our car back on the road. But I truly believe, had we not seen that angel in the sky, that we would have probably hit him head on up ahead a little bit further in the curvy part of that road.
And when my grandma said to me, sure he's such an angel, I remember being terrified. And so it means a lot to me in the Bible when ever an angel appears to someone in the Bible, the first thing to say is don't be afraid because I was scared and I couldn't explain it. And she told me after we left, don't ever tell anyone that story because people won't believe you. They'll think you're crazy. But I have told that story a few times and I'm happy to share it with you guys today. So thank you. So what do you think about that? I absolutely do not think she's crazy. I think that absolutely happened. I think it's so interesting from being killed. That's exactly what I think happened. Right. Because had they not slowed down, they would have been in a different place in the road. The guy had fallen asleep, ran him off the road as it was. But that's so interesting. It just makes you wonder.
It's like, you know, and I love that story. She tied in in the Bible where it said, do not be afraid because she's right. That comes up in the Bible, you know, when an angel appears and they say, do not be afraid, you know, we bring tidings of good news or, you know, I'm here to tell you that you're going to have a baby, you know, like the enunciation things and stuff like that. So she's right. You know, like, that is interesting because she saw something that was scary and her grandmother, you know, was fascinating. Where her grandmother saw it too. Yeah. Right. And they're both looking at this thing that's slowing them down. You know, you've had that happen. I've had it happen where maybe I've been driving or there's been a situation and I've been for a lot of our listeners, the same thing where something happens and you are so close
to an accident so close to something really tragic happening. And you look back at the day and you think had anything happen differently in this day, I maybe would have been at the wrong place at the wrong time. But you know, somebody pulled me back and, you know, yelled at me and I went back in for 20 seconds and talked to him or 10 seconds and had they not done that, I would have been there. You know, you just, you just look at those near, you know, those experiences, those kind of near accidents, near death kinds of things. And it's happened to all of us at some point. And when we look back, we think if that had not, you know, if so and so hadn't said that to me or if I hadn't slowed down or if I hadn't seen this over here, and I think that's exactly what happened. I think something was sent to slow them down. Because she was meant to live.
They were both meant to live because it's a, it's a good story. But as it's going along, it's like, okay, they're seeing the angel in the sky. But then you find out the reason. So I thought that was real interesting. It wouldn't have been as good of a story had that second part not happen. I know, right? Because it, we don't always get that kind of answer, you know, but this time we did it in this story. And I think that, yes, in fact, I do believe that angel was sent to slow you guys down and keep you from, from dying because you have great things to do in your life. Don't you think so? I think a lot of times it's like, just not your time yet. And I just, oh, I thought that was a really good story. And I had to laugh because she is an Oklahoma rural girl when she explained that the road they were driving on was, was paved. It was a county road, but it was paved. And I'm like, oh, nice road for the county road. I'm like, oh, yeah, totally good. Well, if you have a real ghost story, share it with us.
