Uh, like it to be as surprising for you as it is for me or surprising for me as it is for you. I don't know. I can't speak English today. I've got a problem. I'm having some life traumas and the fact that I'm still doing this podcast is a miracle. Um, frankly, uh, Peter. Yeah, Peter's like the colonists screaming for power.

4:15It's been 30 minutes. What did they think colonization was going to be like butlands? Oh, butlands is one of those wild, um, like holiday camp things. It's very British. I don't know that we have really had it here. Did we didn't want to go to like a butlin style holiday? I think we just had holidays that go into Rosebud stayed in the caravan park. That was about as exciting as it got. There was a fair down the road sometimes. Um, butlands was like a whole deal. It was like, it was almost like going to school camp but with your parents, with activities. You know, like I imagine butlands to be like, you know, in dirty dancing where they go to the, um, you know, they go to that, that kind of weird house in the, they in the cat skills wherever they are. Um, they go to that weird holiday home and Jerry Orbuck from Laura and order puts baby in the corner. Uh, anyway, there's dancing lessons as, you know, you can play board games.

5:18There's a talent competition. There's all that kind of stuff going on. Um, I think butlands is like that. Anyway, and there was a whole TV series that I've never seen that everyone tells me about it called Heidi high, which was set in one of these holiday camps. Oh, Delta and the banaman is set at like a butlands kind of deal, but like in the 60s or 50s. Um, Peter's desperate to watch that. We might have to watch that soon as well. Um, I don't know why he's desperate to watch it. Oh, maybe he's making his way through that box set. That first serviceman, a coy box. Um, I don't know anyone who's been desperate to watch Delta and the banaman since well, it was on. I did draw a lovely bus and a tARDIS when I made a cover for it. Sounds like something a seven year old would do, wouldn't it? Yeah, I was 19. I think when it when it would have come out like 88, 89, 17 or 18, I would have been. I know. Oh, maybe it was only like 15. Anyway, I was a teenager. I should have been doing something else.

6:18Um, Peter says I am see his whole scheme is very scoopy. Do isn't it? It is scaring the colonists off with a fake monster. They'd have got away with it too. It wasn't for that meddling doctor. I mean, instead of the face coming off and it was, you know, Ole man's medley from the amusement park all along, it's the robot. The robot has pretendy hands. Um, I am see you have a staff notice board with paper notices on it. Retro is the future. You know what I did notice? You know, Peter talked about the scene where the woman rips the date off. Cause, you know, they rip it off to show a new date and it's 2472. Um, she screws it up and throws it on the floor. Uh, if these colonists are rubbishing their own colony before the colony has started. Honestly, I say kill them. I like get rid of them. They keep talking about the indigenous life as natives, which surely by 2472 has gone out the window

7:25as a term used about indigenous life that may be intelligent on a planet. Like they understand what people are saying. So it's not like they're stupid. So it's like they're being treated like, um, it feels like very cowboys in Indians. Like they're running around with rifles. 2472, the best they can manage is an actual chemical propellant rifle. Good on you. Um, and, uh, then the, the, all the people who live on the planet, the indigenous life forms have spears and wear leotards that look like they've been finger-binding. Like the costumes. It is one of those things. Sometimes I watch Doctor Who and I'm like, I know why I believed this when I was a kid. But why do I still buy into it now? And I think it's just, you know, but it's just, it just is. It's, it's Doctor Who. You just believe it. Like it's 50 plus years old.

8:27Like, like this, what, what is this episode? 1970? Oh, yeah, because, um, Joe says, oh, is it 1970 or 1971 thinking it's that year? But I think this year would be 1972 when this came out. It's the second season of, um, per, well, maybe it is only 1971. Um, anyway, yeah, the year I was born. Oh, yeah, because the two, it's only like two or three stories before was my birthday story, which is terror of the autons. So absolutely, this is 1971. It's a 55 year old story. I love it. Um, oh, dear. It seems a little full on strapping them to a bomb. Oh, I don't remember anyone being strapped to a bomb. This is a turn of events that I'm going to have to look forward to. Joe, you're free. Just, just, just leave the coloners to blow off. Blow up.

9:28It'd be a mercy killing. Hey, stop, explaining me. Um, oh, no, he's gone again. It's a real, whole that planet. It's just rock and mud, a bit like a quarry you could say. Where were they trying to grow their plants? Uh, that is a question that I ask a lot in this episode when they talk about the farming, not working. I'm like, yeah, I don't think the farming's working because there's nowhere to farm. Like you're trying to make plants grow in rocks. I did love that the one living plant we kind of see, uh, at least in the first two episodes, is sidewise. On top of a cupboard. In the heart, whether dead people have been murdered, um, whether doctors like really, 20 feet tall, I've got through that door, which is very like, hey, why is he onto this and no one else is? Are colonists the people that no one else wants around anymore? Is that what's going on here? Um, it kind of reminds me of, you know, the Douglas Adams thing in, uh,

10:32the Chuckers going to the galaxy and all the phone sanitizers and middle manager of people that no one wanted anymore was sent off into a space arc as if, you know, to say the earth was going to die and earth was fine. But they just didn't want those people around anymore. They could get on with all the stuff they needed to do. That would be amazing. All the really super rich people who are just gouging all of us now, um, and put them in a big spaceship with a bunch of middle management people who are just their, their real job is making sure their job is exists and not anything else. It's like they're just make sure they've got a job. Uh, let's get rid of all of them and send them to space. But yeah, maybe that's what these colonists are. They're the most annoying people on planet earth and it's like, can you please go away? Just go to another planet. I don't care where. Um, all right, we'll continue this in the next episode.
