About this episode
We just saw that an avid socialist might become the mayor of New York City. Socialism has been tried again and again and it’s never worked. Back in 1934 Unity Bietford, a rich British socialite, was impressed by the German National Socialist Party. You know - the Nazis. And she even became part of Hitler’s inner circle. Between 1938 and 1939 she was offered a choice of nice Munich apartments that were taken from Jews who were sent to camps. It cost the Jews not only the apartment, but their lives in the concentration camps. Socialist leaders make exceptions for their family and friends. Joseph Stalin and his wife and children ate well in the 1930s while more than five million Ukrainians were starved to death.
