About this episode
For the religious ulema of the Islamic world in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the ideology known as Pan Arabism, or "Nasserism" (Named after Egyptian President Abdel Gamel Nasser) was a direct threat to it's existence and a liability for the Islamic world as a whole. Religious extremists from Saudi Arabia and Egypt began taking an aggressive stance against the secular ideology, which was to blame for the embarrassing defeat suffered to Muslims worldwide, during the "6 Day Arab War" against it's main adversary, Israel. In this episode, Adam Fitzgerald, talks about how the Pan Arab nations in the Middle East saw an exponential rise in Islamic Fundamentalism known as "Wahhabism" during the early 70's to the present day, and how it effected the world.
