The Tool That Won My Training Session Poll & Why I've Never Featured It Until Now (Cool Tools 55)

About this episode

In this Cool Tools Tuesday episode, Andrew Miles Davis finally features a tool he has been recommending to clients and charities for years but has somehow never covered on the show, Lumen5, a video creation platform that turns blog posts and URLs into polished social videos automatically by matching text highlights to images, footage, and a music bed. He also breaks down Comic Ink, a dedicated AI comic book generator that impressed him for its character consistency and generous free plan, and rounds off with Renamer.ai, a file renaming tool that uses AI to bulk rename screenshots, documents, and photos so you can actually find them again. All three tools have usable free plans and practical applications for marketers working without a design or video team. Subscribe to In AI Nutshell for three new tools every Tuesday, tested and explained in plain language.

I would say for the last five, six years, I've been talking about this one specific tool because of its AI capabilities. And I've realized I've not mentioned it once on CoolTools Tuesday. So, let's discuss. Welcome to the most prolific AI marketing podcast out there, the inner nutshell podcast. This is the daily 10 minute podcast where I take out all of the techy talk around generative AI and focus on what the everyday person, content creator and marketer wants to hear. And I've only got 10 minutes, so I can only focus on one subject. And today, it's Tuesday, which means CoolTools Tuesday. Yes, it's a day to week where I talk about free cool tools on the Tuesday, hence the creative name. So what are three tools I want to talk about today? I've got to talk about one image generator, a video generator, just a general handy tool productivity tool. So, the image generator I want to talk about is called

Comic Inc. That's c-o-m-i-c-i-n-k.ai. Now, I came across this tool because something I've been doing a lot with my son really is we'll go somewhere, we'll take some pictures and then I'll turn it into a comic book, but I've been using Lano Banana or ChatGBT to do it. But this site here is a dedicated site that essentially is going to turn your words into stunning comic books. What I was doing was taking pictures saying what's happening and it will do the comic. He is dedicated to that. So it's trained on comic books and different styles. All you need to do is just give it text and it creates a comic book for you. Now, obviously you can make it be spoke to you or you can just say a comic book about about AIF or real estate agents or students, whatever it may be and it can go away and do that.

So it's got loads of different styles. It's in a comic book style and obviously like a comic book, digital comic book, you could flick the pages to go to whatever page. You've got templates that you can use. If you want to use it for free, you can get 200 credits, which is enough to kind of get the gist of it. You can put it in different languages, you can create the characters, you want the character to look like, names, gender, etc. It's very good at character consistency, it creates good story arcs, so you know it's trained on story. And it's pretty quick the way it generates comics. It's a really cool little tour, especially you get it's quite a generous free plan as well. So give it a play if you can think of the use case for it or if not, it's a bit of fun. It's called comic ink. The second tour I want to talk about is a tour that I've been talking about. I know pre-COVID, definitely pre-COVID and I've been showing a lot of people. Many charities

have to admit, mainly in the charity sector. This tour because what it does, what it does multiple things, but what it does is it creates videos. It's like a, I used to call it the Canva for videos. It's called Lumen 5. It does multiple things, but I'm just going to talk about one feature and this is the feature that I usually show people. And the reason I want to talk about this today is because last week or the week before, actually it's the week before last, I delivered a session on just tools. So it was just an hour and a half session, it was just free AI tools and I showed this one and I did a poll at the end which tool did you like the best. And this one won. And I was still surprised that it's like people still love it. Now what this does, I'm just going to talk about this specific feature. I can take a URL, put the URL into Lumen 5, and then you can select the style. So imagine I've got a long blog post and I put it into this Lumen 5, it

selects a video style and then it will take my blog post and it will turn it into a video. So it will take the text and it will turn it into a video. Now it's not like a film, it's not got characters moving around. It's one of those videos that you've probably seen which will have text or subtitles along the bottom and then it will have even images or it will have short videos with a musical bed playing as well. So if I wrote a long blog post about LinkedIn's algorithm in 2026, it will take that, it will take just the highlights that it believes is the most important things. Put the word in here and then with every sentence it will match it with an image or video and it will match the music to it. So look at the theme, do you want it high part, do you want it angry, do you want it dramatic, do you want it cessation, whatever theme of music you want. And of course you can edit this, you don't have to accept the words that they use, you don't have to accept the images that they choose, you don't even have to accept the music, you can either

go to their library of stock images, stock videos, stock music or you can go to mid-journey or sooner or whatever video platform you use and you can just upload your own ones there but it will have to template where you just drag and drop essentially. It's called lumen5, really cool tool, definitely check that one out. The last tool, this is just a really handy tool, so it's called renamer.ai, so r-e-n-a-m-e-r.ai and what it does is a file renaming tool. I'm forever going to a document, clicking right click and renaming the stuff. It's so important to rename stuff or at least you know the name of certain things so it's easy to find. And what this does is that you can select a whole bunch of files, it will go through the files and it will work out what it's about and it will rename it. So imagine you're a desktop, but I've got so many screenshots on my desktop, it will rename it. All the stuff that I put for my phone and I send it to my laptop,

like I've got loads of WhatsApp pictures and stuff, it will rename that. Really handy, it's going to save you a lot of time. It's called renamer.ai and it renames PDFs, photos, documents, instantly. And of course right now it's pretty much free. I think it's freemium, but for what you might need it for what? I can't, I don't know how, how unorganized or unnamed your content is or making assumptions here, but I'm assuming most of it is pretty decent. So it's a good free version of pretty much all you need. So in a nutshell, they would have free tools this week.
