Hello, this is Alaska and my new album The Brunette Album is out now on all streaming services. Thank you. Hi, I'm Coco Perouenta. Well, actually, they wrote here drag legend Coco Perouba, but I would never say that about myself. And I'm here on the tip spot to win some of mom's money. Thanks for listening to this audio-only extended edition of The Tip Spot. Every episode, our esteemed guest plays a series of minigames to fill their purse with real cash tips. Every correct answer earns one ding. Every ding equals one dollar. And every dollar takes our diva closer to the final round. The back shot. I'm mom's little gay assistant. You may hear my faggy voice a time or two throughout

this podcast to help you understand what's happening visually. Now let's get into this episode of The Tip Spot. Love you mom. Hello Coco. I am mom. Voice of the country drag overlords. And I'm here to dogmaid you. Dollarly. Today you'll be answering questions and playing games to earn some of my money. This is money you won't have to make from performing monolads to suspiciously wealthy gay men. Are you ready to play? I'm so ready to play. And before you dominate me, let me just say it's 105 degrees outside. And I have had it about up to here. And we haven't even started. So let me tell you how this game is going to go. I'm going to play along, but I'm walking out here with those weddings one way or another if I have to steal it. All right. That's how it's going. If I make a bunch of tips today, I'm going to buy mushrooms, addables, anything. I need to take a trip is what I'm saying.

Don't forget your pocket book. Oh, that's cute. Do walking out with this as well. Who is she? I ask myself that every day looking in the mirror. Who is this woman? I need my glasses because I am a woman of a certain age. This game is called Who Is She? Mom wants to tip you, but first she needs to know that you are more than the only lady at the bear party. Mom has filled a dossier with items from your checkered pass to earn a tip from mom. You'll need to give context to each item. Try to be interesting. Oh, now she's policy. Okay. And only break into song when absolutely necessary. Oh, bad enough it wasn't 105 degrees today. Now I need to sing. Oh, disturbing. Oh my goodness. I'm looking at a photo of me on a beach holding up an award that I won for running a race.

Boy, you're bringing back memories. This was at a beach club on a little island. I grew up on in the Bronx called City Island. And I want a running race that day. I was a fast runner as a kid, big deal. No one gives a shit. But I had a Mickey Mouse doll and you would pull a string and you'd be like, hi, I'm Mickey. Today, I'd want to kill the kid that's playing with this toy, you know. But back then, I loved this so much. And my uncle Jim, who's not really my uncle, just a close friend of the family. For some reason, probably because he was drunk, he grabs that Mickey Mouse out of my arms and threw it in the sand, dug a hole and buried it. And it was traumatizing. And then he then they took it back out. And when I pulled the string, Mickey talked like he had a stroke. That was the end of it. And I never forgave that man. I never trusted him again. It was traumatizing. Of course, nowadays, I'd probably be the one to do that to a kid and think it was hilarious. You know, what goes around comes around is when I'm saying, when I say beach club, it was literally just a tiny little beach where they would put sand on the mud that was usually.

This was nothing fancy as what I'm trying to say. But it was the Beach Street Beach Club. And my parents and their friends took care of this beach. And that's where we would all go, you know, they'd have ballbecues and whatnot. And I have a lot of fond memories of that place. Anyway, it's wonderful. And I think I'm wearing a speedo. No one wants to see that nowadays. But back then, I was a cutie. Hands it over. That's Coco's first tip from Mom. That's right. Adala. Well, I'm going places. Back to my air conditioned home when this is over. Oh my goodness. Well, I'm looking at an early head shot of Coco Peru. I look gorgeous, by the way. Can I just say, is that applause? You're damn right. Makeup has never been my art, you know, but I was so relieved when I saw the photo. This artist that took this, I don't remember her name, but this picture is actually in a book about drag. The terrible thing about what I did was she gave me a copy of this photo and said,

I'm going to give this to you, Coco, but whatever you do, please don't release it until my book comes out. Do you promise? And I said, of course, I promise you that at which point I took the photo to a place where I had it turned. They made a negative out of it. And I had hundreds printed because I need, I was desperate for a head shot. And I felt so guilty that I had done that. And I called her finally. And I said, I have to make a confession. I did print that photo. And she said, I know, I know you all did all the drag queens in that book. But you're the only one that called to apologize. So at least I have that in my corner. But I tell you, when you were young, drag queen back in the 90s and you were desperate, that's the kind of stuff you did. It was it was hard. I get another dollar. It's not going to pay for a coffee on the way home. But hey, when I posted this, people always comment, you look like Gigi good, which is, you know, she is gorgeous. Don't ever interrupt me again, please. But what I want to say to them is, I think Gigi good looks like Coco Baroque.

Oh my god, I'm being attacked. Oh my goodness. I'm with a drag queen in New York named sweetie. We were on the set of two Wang Fu. I'm here in my gold dress with sweetie. So sweet. She'll rot your teeth. I always thought that was so funny. Back then, I was more in the cabaret world. And I had gone to school for theater, you know, and I wasn't familiar with that east side drag queen, the low east side. But two Wang Fu was the experience that introduced me to the different worlds of drag. And that for me was the best part of being cast in two Wang Fu. Was that I got to meet the drag queens from all across that spectrum of what drag could be. And I remember back then, people would come to see my show and they thought they were being nice by saying, don't call yourself a drag queen because you do monologues in this. But I always felt like, no, I am so proud to be a drag queen. And being on the set reinforced that. I was just surrounded by the cremts of a crem of New York drag at the time.

Sweetie being one of them. The other funny thing about that dress that I'm wearing, I had made. And everybody basically wore their own costumes. But for some reason, the costume designer, she made me wear another costume. And not what had been made for me that I felt represented Coco. I showed like my chest and I have like hair underneath all of this belief or not. And I didn't want to shave it and all of this. And Kenny Ortega, who was the choreographer, he directed that movie that you kids all love, Hocus Pocus. And he came downstairs and said, when they call you for camera, don't go. So they go, okay, everyone up, get in places. And I stayed in my dressing room. And then it became where is Coco Peru and Kenny Ortega says to the director, you're going to go downstairs. She's not happy. Now there on a time, you know, come downstairs. What's the problem. I'm not happy with my costume. And they said, well, then put her in another costume, put her in her closet. And so they did. And so it was a big scandal that the costume designer was very upset with me. But I got to wear what I wanted to wear. And I thanked Kenny Ortega for standing up for me that day.

But I did find a picture of that costume of me and that costume. And it was pretty fabulous. I would have looked great in it. She was right. Thank you. One more photo. I hope it's a nice one. Oh, this is a nice one. It's me in a costume that I absolutely don't usually wear big like ball gowns and things. But this was made for me. Can't really see it because they picked the wrong picture. This was at the game and it's chorus. I hosted it. And that was so much fun that day. I think they thought that by having a drag queen, maybe they'd spice it up a bit. And some of my jokes, you know, we're drag queens. They there were some older queens in that group, like dinosaurs that were not happy with Coco Peru. And so some of my things had to be cut and whatnot. But ultimately, it was a great show. And I was so proud of myself for doing it. During rehearsal, there was someone there that I recognized. And it was a little awkward. And then on the drive home, I thought, I'll confirm this if we're on the same like root home. And sure enough, I'm at like Laurel Canyon and Oxnard. And he pulls up beside me. And we look at each other. And that's when I realized that yes, I'm not sure.

I had indeed fooled around with this guy in the past. So, but he didn't know I was cocoa back then. He figured it out. I could see it on his face. He was going, that's oh my god, you know, because we were rehearsing. I was injured. And it was it was a little awkward. But then you have to own those things. You know, yeah, I was big slot. I should get more than a dollar for admitting to being a big whore back in the day. You've won four dollars in tips. My necklace says it all. Vintage whore. Pick your poison. Cadillac. Why is this by you see? I have to get my granny glasses again. Hold on. Now that mom knows who you are, she wants to put you to the test. I'm giving you three poison cards. Each card will challenge you to pick your poison by revealing a truth or accepting a dare. Oh no. Oh no. Try not to do anything embarrassing. Impossible. Gays will make a meme out of anything. Oh god. No. Why are you doing this to me? Did I agree to this? She showed up in drag 105 degrees. And these kids nowadays, these young drag queens honey. It's a little warm. It's this. I have a belly egg. I can't show. I did a show on a broken foot three years ago. Anyway, what were we saying? Poison poison. I like that word. For one dollar. Mom, would you like me to read both of these or just the one I want to pick? Both of them.

Pick your poison. Tell mom the last thing you texted Kekeball change or zoom in impression of Jinx monsoon complaining. I'm picking Kekeball change. I am not picking on Jinx monsoon. It'll come back to haunt me. I don't like to do impressions. You know why? Because there are people who do them better. Kids, you've got to know what you do well. And because I am a truth seeker, more than likely I'm always going to choose to do the truth. If the last thing that I wrote to Kekeball change is embarrassing, I'll just lie. I'll make some shit up. You know, Keke is my drag daughter. And when she asked me, I didn't grow up in that culture. So I was like, what? But I sort of enjoy it actually. Oh lord. Hi. I'm Coco Peru. H-I-J. I can do my alphabet kids. Look at all the famous people I know, lady bunny. Oh, I went too far. See, I'm bullshitting and I skipped J all together. Oh no, no, not J. I'm looking for K's.

Do I even have Kekeball change on here? Oh, Christ. I went past it again. Oh, you know why? Because I have it under the boy name. That's why. Oh, okay. So she wrote to me, you wouldn't want to do some sort of show together at Oasis. Would you in San Francisco? And I wrote, no, honey, I don't bring Coco with me. Just my tits and undies. Because I'm going to do golden girls. And I don't have to worry about a friggin thing. I just show up with titties and undies. They do all the rest. Golden girls, this December in San Francisco, don't miss it. $4.2. By the way, my dermatologist is calling right now. I don't know what should I answer. I'm concerned. It's probably I owe them something. Pick your poison, recount your worst gig ever in detail or sing the full golden girls theme song. I don't want to sing. I have no, it's a 105 degrees. That's a little too much work.

My worst gig ever. Oh, I've had so many. Did I mention I broke my foot 20 minutes before I showed three years ago? And funny enough, that wasn't the worst gig. Now, I would say my worst gig ever was in San Francisco in the Nico Hotel. I'm not going to mention the venue because it is since changed. And the new venue I went back and made peace with the space. But when I was booked there, they treated me so badly that it shook me to my core. And the first night of my first opening night show, there was some virus in one of those neuroviruses in the hotel. And I caught it. So as I was putting on my makeup, I was vomiting. It never occurred to me, girl, you need to cancel your show. You see kids always go on with the show. And so there I am vomiting, putting on the May, I go and do the show and during the show,

oh my God, the videos didn't work. So already they broke their contract. So, you know, I'm referring to the videos not coming up and you're just thinking, why is this happening? And then a waiter drops in his higher tray of drinks on the reviewer. The one reviewer where that showed up, the waiter drops in the tire drinkser and some queen was talking in the background. And I called him out finally. He yells out, you're boring. And it's not the first time that Jackie Pete says it all the time. Be Arthur doesn't think I'm boring. Lily Tomlin doesn't think I'm boring. Lies a man, Ellie doesn't think I'm boring. And then I kicked him out. You know what else I told you? I told his boyfriend, you deserve better. When I remembered that entire run and the way I was being treated, I was there for three weeks by the way. That was just the beginning. I was rattled. However, I went down to demand my pay because they was supposed to pay me weekly. I guess Betty Buckley had also pissed them off. And on the opposed to, you know, we can erase it, they had written.

Betty Buckley will not be performing here such and such day through such and such day. And then under it they had scrolled or ever. I felt like Betty Buckley was there go and cocoa. I understand. One for me, one for Betty Buckley. For $5. Oh, okay. Pick your poison, reveal your biggest enemies in show business and name names or take off your wig. I'm not one of those rural girls that shows up at a drag half the time. Honey, the wig is staying on. I might have to make some shit up because I don't think I have any enemies in this business. I surround myself with like, I don't know, a talented good people. I have had instances where some of those other queens have been a little like dismissive to me. But you know what I realized? They're not very talented. That's their defense mechanism.

But anyway, I don't want to name names about any of them because really I can't remember their names. I don't remember the actress's name. I think she played the dead body on Twin Peaks. You can Google her. But I did a show years ago and she was not happy with me. Now, I had done a movie called Trick and I was really over the top in this monologue. And so when I auditioned for this, the two gay guys auditioning me thought I was hilarious. I'm theater, I'm big, you know, whatever. So I show up for this my first Hollywood moment. And I'm hamming it up and this actress is not having it. And Beverly DeAngelo had also been hired to be a regular on the series. And we're hitting it off. And this woman, this actress, she not having either of us. And at one point, I'm trying to be nice, right? So I said to her, oh, that shirt you're wearing is beautiful. It was bright yellow. I said, it just looks gorgeous with your skin. Did you pick that out?

Or did the customer pick you to pick it out? And she just looked at me and said, thank you. And she walked away and two minutes later, she walks back, we're completely different shirt. And I thought, oh, and then at then the director comes over to me and says to me, you're too gay. I have gay friends and they don't act like you. And I looked at her. I'm so proud of myself. And I said, that's funny. Because I am gay and I act like this all the time. Oh, that's what I did right enough that I put some trials in Nelson Riley. And you young people have no idea who I'm talking about, but believe me, icon. So anyway, I left that day. Actually, I can laugh about it, but it's traumatizing for your first gig in L.A. to be hated to have something so homophobic said to me. But Beverly DeAngelo calls me Coco. It's not you. It's them.

And then she told me that she had quit herself and gave them all their money back and said she wanted nothing to do with them. And I just again, Betty Buckley, Coco Perou, Beverly DeAngelo, Coco Perou. Honey, I surround myself with the winners. What is this? Five. I always count my money. She knew years ago I did a gig with Tricks in the town. We had lunch together in her hotel room. She opened up a suitcase. She had just come from Brazil. Thousands of these balls up in her suitcase that she had checked. She just come off the show. I said, oh, honey, money is energy. Those people work hard for those dollars. You've got to respect not only these people, but the actual money. I don't care how late you have to stay up. You go through that money. You flatten it out. You put it in an envelope and you carry that on the plane with you. And she took my advice and look at her now. She's so rich and look at me on a little podcast trying to win five dollars. She should give me 10%.

Mom is tipping you eight dollars in tips. What do you believe? Are you a rich man? I'm share big. Now it's time to tell mom what you believe. I believe in nothing. Answer a question from the cards and mom will give you a tip for being honest. Remember, old queens can say anything without getting in trouble. If that wasn't the case, Lady Bunny would be in Guantanamo. She'd be lucky to be in Guantanamo really. The world would be lucky. I love that you call me an old queen. Exactly. Anything for money. You can call me anything. You can call me a vintage or more. Question one. Had you not been an award-winning actor, comedian and direct performer, what career path would you have been on today? I have two answers for this. One, and the word is very hard for me to say, which is probably why it's best that I'm not doing this.

An esthetician? I love just the sound when I go for the facial, the treatment when they open the bottles, the sounds. I just, the student, I love it all so much. And I love making people feel good. And so I think that would be very satisfying. And I'm telling you, I've thought about this so much. I even thought about that. I would have like one day a week where I would do it for people who can afford it. You know, it would be, pay what you can. That's the kind of give or I am. I should run for president, honey. This world would be a lot better. And then the other thing was, I think I would be like a high class escort. No, seriously, because I think sexuality can be healing. And I love healing people. You know what I'm saying? Oh my god, I love this. Hello, you cute little thing. You know what? I need one of these. This is what I pick up litter with. And ugly, you know, plain one. I need one of those.

A little longer, a little longer. We always like it a little longer. Don't we kids? I'm right. Perry. So not me, but okay. Question two. What is pissing you off today? Let's be realistic about who Coco Peru is. What is not pissing me off today? Everything pisses me off. Racism, transphobia, everything pisses me off. The inequality. I get pissed off with littering. I have a visceral reaction where if I see someone littering, I want their head to explode. You really don't belong here on earth if you can't take care of it. It's 2026. You should know that littering is not a good thing. It all ends up in the ocean, which is why I donate to the ocean cleanup. Okay. Drawlings, I started drag 36 years ago thinking that I was making the world a better place. And now as I'm coming to the end of my career, I think, oh my God, are we going backwards?

It's so unsettling to me. I should probably keep this entertaining and fun. Shouldn't I? But I literally just feel so consumed with rage every single day. And I can't even be angry about the simple things that used to piss me off. You know, like too many options when it comes to buying celestial seasonings, tension, tamerty. Now all I need is my tension tamerty. I don't need all these options. And half the time that I don't need my other tension tamerty there. Those are the kind of things that I like to be pissed about. But nowadays, you're telling me to have fun. See, that's not a question you ask Coco Peru because it's really just too much. Question three, who do you want to start beef with? Who do I want to start beef with? I love to start beef with people that I actually love. And so like I will start beef with Bianca Del Rio, just so she will abuse me and make me laugh and forget about the world's problems.

So that's the kind of beef that I start. It's got to be with the people I love. I am not interested in having any beef with people I don't really care for. Now, I want to have beef with the people that I absolutely love and adore. And so I usually start beef by sending text to my drag girlfriends Jackie Beech, Sherry Vine, Barlogy, Merman, Bianca Del Rio. I don't know who I am. And Peach is Christ and I'll say something really cruel just so they give it back to me. I'm raking it up kids. That's all I'm saying. Number four, if you could change the queer community, what would you change? If I could change anything, it wouldn't be the queer community that I would be changing. I would be changing the world to make it safe for queer kids to be who they are authentically right from the get go, to have that love and support. And everything that I didn't have growing up is what I want to change about. So I'm not interested in changing the queer community.

I'm interested in changing the world so that queer people can live safely and happily and live out their dreams. Coming from my older activists from back in the day, you got to make that change happen. That's what I would change. Oh, I got another dollar. That's for all the walks I did back in the day breaking my feet. She did the walks in drag kids. All right, question five. If you became president, how would you change the country? That's like, come on. How would I change the country? I would make drag queens. They would be in the positions of power. Because when we have a problem, we work it out through comedy, we work it out, lips thinking this, whatever we do it, we show up and we do it with pure joy. And that's what I think the world needs. We are all connected. This is, okay, I'm going to get corny. We're connected by love. And it's fear that causes separation. And it's separation that causes all the pain in the world.

And drag queens are agents of love. Adala for that kind of wisdom. You made my dog hair this round. You know, you asked me earlier what's something I would change. I think all drag queens should wear nails. But having said it just as I was making my beautiful point, one of my nails popped off. Because it's 105 degrees outside. And you know, things don't stick as well as they do when it's nice and cool. She showed up. I trained you get these questions right. I'm a Broadway show queen. This game is called Lake Quiz. This is the trivia round where you can make tips quickly and prove your wig isn't a parasite that's been feeding on your brain for decades. While our little gay assistant reads you trivia questions, you have two minutes to answer as many questions as possible. For each correct answer mom gives you a tip.

And for each incorrect answer mom will make you fly on budget airline. I already do that. Did I mention that I once had a parasite and I didn't even get it the fun way. I got it from a bad salad. Can I just say I am terrible at trivia games. I just, my brain fries. I turn it to Sinsi Brady on the Brady Bons. Just staring at the camera. No. This is very stressed. I did not come here to be stressed out. But I'm not going to walk off because I am a professional. And I will go through this. But I'm wanting you. I hate trivia. Peru is located on what continent? South America. What is the set in what city? Miami. What channel does Will and Grace air on? Channel 4. And, but NBC? Correct. What part of the cell contains DNA?

Uh, pass. What is the largest living bird? Lady Bunny. So close. What is the name of Dolly Parton's theme park? Dollywood. Loved it. What is the first book of the Bible? Genesis. What is the only vegetable that is also classified as a flower? Uh, pass. Who did Be Arthur play in Fiddler on the roof? Te- uh, Tevi of the mat. No, not Tevi. Yen to the matchmaker. Who sold the Louisiana territory to the United States? Be Arthur. Who is Batman? Be Arthur. In 1965, Leslie Ann Warren starred in the television production of What Music Old. Cinderella. What is the name of Tina Louise's character on Gilligan's Island? Um, um, Ginger. Name three star track characters. Lieutenant Yehura, Spock, Captain Kirk.

All that really matters is Lieutenant Yehura. Name a film, James Fonda won an Oscar for it. Clute. Name a sitcom Norman Lear Created. All in the family. What day was too long food thanks for everything Gilligan are released in theaters? I don't remember. Pass. What is the name of the world's longest river? Um, um, I don't know. Did I mention I was a personal friend of B. Arthur? Thank you. Mom, I'm very noise-sensitive. I don't want to hear you. Don't trigger me. But you can't beat Mom when it guns to this. Bang, bang, bang. Shot. Okay, I lost another nail. Now it's time for your final test. The Back Shot. Panel by panel, we will reveal the back of someone you should know. Her quoting my shows. It was a pretty magical time for me to have that.

Someone that I obsessed with growing up suddenly become a fan of mine. Is that a 20? That is a 20 and I'll take it. OK, my. The thought of ever meeting Liza was so beyond my imagination. However, when I was nominated for my first award ever in New York City, I was sitting in the audience and all of a sudden they introduced Liza Monelli and she walked out on stage. And I couldn't even believe that I was in the same room with Liza. I called my mother to tell her that and my mother said, well, did you introduce yourself to her? It's well, no, she was on stage. My mother said, how do you ever expect to make it if you're not going to be more out there and introduce yourself to me? I said, what was I supposed to do? Walk up on stage, say, hi, Liza. Sorry to interrupt the entire program, but my mother Helen wanted to introduce myself. So anyway, I hung, I said to my mother, I said, listen, I promise you someday I'm going to meet Liza Monelli and it's going to be because Liza Monelli wants to meet me. And that's exactly what went down. Liza came to see my show when we became friends.

Did we make this too hard? It looks like it went in. Don't look scound. I can't believe you've done this. I'm going to close my eyes this time. Because I don't even give a shit anymore. Ready? Fire! Oh my god! Wee-board. Go through the ball directly into camera. No kidding. It's what I want to do. It's what I want to do! I'm going to count myself. I need you boss to me. Two. Three. Don't worry.
