Babybuzz! British folk tales, the three sillies, part one. Once upon a time, in a cozy little farmhouse, there lived a kind farmer, his loving wife, and their beautiful daughter, who was courted by a charming gentleman. Every evening, the gentleman would visit the family and share a meal with them. Hello, everyone! I can't wait for the night! As was their custom, when supper was ready, the daughter was sent down to the cellar to fetch some old cheese. She walked down the creaky stairs, but then she looked up and saw something that made her gasp. What was that? An axe? Stuck in the ceiling? It had been there for ages, but she had never noticed it before. Suddenly, a scary thought crossed her mind.
What if I marry that gentleman and we have a son? What if our son comes down here one day to fetch the cheese? And that axe falls on his head? Oh no! The daughter was so frightened that she plopped down right on the cellar's floor, her eyes welling up with tears. Dear, why are you taking so long with the cheese? Concerned, her mother came down to check on her. She found her daughter crying, sitting in the middle of a floor covered in gooey cheese. Tears were rolling down her cheeks, mixing with the cheese, making a silly, sticky puddle around her. Oh, what in the world happened here? Look at that horrid axe! If I marry and have a son, what if he gets hurt by it? It's so scary! The mother's eyes widened in shock. Oh dear, that would be dreadful! So, she sat down beside her daughter and soon both of them were crying.
Their tears mixing with the spilled cheese. It was a cheesy flood. After a while, the father grew curious about their delay. What's taking so long down there? He came down to find his wife and daughter in tears with cheese splattering everywhere like a dairy explosion. What on earth is happening? It's that axe! If our daughter marries and has a son, what if he comes down here and gets hurt? The father too began to cry, joining the two of them on the floor. Oh dear, oh dear! That would be awful! I thought only rain could fall, not axes! Just then, the gentleman, who had been waiting upstairs, finally decided to investigate. What are you all doing down here? Why are you crying? Oh dear! Look at that axe! What if we were to marry and have a son?
And he comes down here and the axe falls and hurts him? Oh! The gentleman burst out laughing. Oh, you three are the silliest folks I've ever met. If you're worried, how about stressing over that cheese on the floor? It looks like it's trying to start its own escape room. But their tears continued to flow, creating a mini-cheese lake. Finally, the gentleman shook his head, pulled the axe down and said, I've traveled far and wide, but I've never met three bigger sillies. Until I find three bigger sillies, I can't marry your daughter. With that, he waved goodbye, leaving the three of them crying in the cellar, which now looked like a cheesy disaster ocean.
