Why'd I change over here on the audio that's making it come out? As you dig through those cords, I know this is spaghetti over here. Yeah, I mean, there's something going on where I had my levels just right now. But some reason, it sounds like it's just, because I'm getting a lot of uh, little feedback. Can you hear that? Well, I can't hear now, but sometimes I do hear it from your mic a little bit. Okay, yeah, I tried to let me come on There we go. There we go. How you doing everybody welcome to the sun-based service Pastic cord coming over here. Julie him and ningo the great rabbi. I finished it up a little while ago. Plus I was trying to give away a grill I have nothing else to add to that I was gonna make you have no I want to hear this stupid thing you want to say Sorry I broke that shit on myself You know don't spit out your grill there. It's a little less down and See we have a height train coming Y'all better make this happen man because I'm trying to keep waiting on y'all man watch I'll make that picture of Martin right now y'all know that man is mad about this picture I don't know if that's from the pick the The picture the controversial picture out there. That's just his face. That's just his face That's just a Martin and no NG Colby. I mean Koki probably has like a whole like you know like one of those rooms With just all the pictures. It's like oh, yeah, which emotion do you want from? Well, yeah, and that and that picture of Martin that he said take that is out though already you saw I guarantee you gonna see it again
You know, I'm gonna I understand Martin that picture never should have been out there But now it is you'll see it. Yeah, I'll tell Martin. I said man listen no offense But I want to want that picture out there. I said you look crazy. I have nothing to say about that It's best not to know I Can we been listen we all we all take crazy pictures every now and then Yeah, seven years ago Yeah, we all take on flattery picture. Yeah, we all take pictures sometimes and events that we pay to go to You pay to go to a bit. You do not pay for the right to do that shit. Now see that you go You're ready Come get him get your boy Hey, man reddit kind of got me good. I'm gonna show you something that reddit did that actually have me laughing Okay, and I knew they were gonna do it. I caught myself in the middle of saying Something describing something or one of the calling shows like our Q&A shows And I said I even said in the middle of it said you're gonna take this and do something with it And I be there they did but it is kind of funny
And I'll just I'm not gonna give any context to it just just just Look at it get a good laugh because I did Back in the early 90s man in late 80s You could rent crack from blockbuster You didn't know I did you back in the No, I was around for blockbuster. I remember that. Did you ever crack from blockbuster? I was never old enough There's always their tantalizing me. You know some good days They never talking about those days of blockbuster. You could rent crack Back in the early 90s man in late 80s You could rent Crack from blockbuster and when I was in college. I never I was careful. I was my crack man Yeah, my crack man. I brought about hey if I have about one that was a pipe I would be smoking crack all night and I would never get anything done
It's so good of you listen to it. It sounds like just a straight sentence You know man listen, you know, you know why you blame crack I still yeah, you know, they say you never get over it. It's dealing your system crack. It always comes back Yeah crack is get crack is back You heard it here first folks Some people I read some comments somebody like I guess they weren't look at the video because they were saying man I can't believe for a little while. I thought this was legit So somebody thought I went to and rented rented crack from blockbuster He's always been janky. Yeah, yeah, you know what we're bad about that The late fees on those rocks man. Yeah, those rocks never come back. Yeah, man I'm still accumulating late fees for those of crack rocks man That block, but they got blockbuster clothes down man. Yeah, I know so much money. Yeah, they're gone but the crack rock
You can't get out of five you old he bet he was actually doing math For non-existent things You old let me see you old that that touched How you doing man? Where you from buffalo buffalo come up to the mic step up to move up to the mic a little bit Came here to hang out with for the academy workshop. Yeah nice to have you here man So are you here for south by yes nice very nice and how have you enjoyed south by well First day was a little disappointing, but second day was much better. What was disappointing? So First day because it was like all new to me. I had to like quickly grab my pass And I had to then like rush over to a session. What's going on? Oh, yeah You've never been to south by right? It's crazy, right? Yeah, yeah first time and so all the reservation people like packed in that one small like hotel Area and it was like oh, yeah. Yeah. No, I mean you have to actually
Be ready for craziness and lines and packed spaces because south by south west is insane Yeah, like when I had when I had done like I think like last year like when I had done Order to go to south by south west. I didn't know about the rest of ratio. Okay. Well, hey Can you do me a favor? Can you cut the fan? Oh, okay either one. Yeah. Thank you Oh, the grade Alec Miracle everybody Yeah, well, I may hate so it what is it done? Is it done today? Uh, it's done by the 18th by the 18th. Okay. All right. This wasn't well. Thank you for taking time out of your Let me move that closer to you. Yeah, moody. Yeah, don't be afraid to get close to it. Yeah, put your mouth on the beam Yeah, don't yeah, man. Uh, thank you for taking your time out of south by to come by hang out. Yes, I appreciate it I was playing on seeing Bobo and Kirkson normal tonight, but I was like, you know what? I'm gonna be I want to see something as anything but normally But you know yesterday. I also tried to get into now
This was kind of dumb on me. I was getting my hopes up. I was like, I just thought The Steven Spielberg Oh, they're showing it. It's moving. So he was here. Oh, he was at an event that he was doing and so We were I didn't have a reservation, but they had like a walk-in line. I'm like, okay. I'll just you know Stay in there and see what's gonna happen. So They call us up like by like a few sections and then they would bring us and they would give us a ticket saying you're gonna get You know, we promise you that that's a lie That's a lie. That's a goddamn lie that that whenever they tell you you're guaranteed to get in that's I don't even know what they tell people that I I think it's just more selfish. So it was was Spielberg doing a like a Was he doing like some seminar or something? Yeah, so he was doing a Q&A About his for my creep, but he was also discussing about like disclosure day. Oh nice But I I heard at one point during
Livestream or like an audio saying that He was talking about like he kind of believes in aliens Oh, man. Look, this is the man I told us. Yeah, he believes in aliens And George Lucas or like that. He might be an alien You know, the thing with this the man I told us after Jurassic Park came out that we will have dinosaurs in five years So that was supposed to be back in 1999. We supposed to have an actual Jurassic Park. Yeah, they're a little late with that Yeah, a little bit a little bit. Hey, you know Get those dinosaurs right And by the way, take your time in that park. We don't want those movies busting out Dinosaurs first or GTA six. Which one are we gonna get dinosaurs? So I'm gonna go ahead and tell you what's happened today because we got to jump right into this Yeah, it would have been nice to talk about Spielberg, but we got to go. Yes. Yes. We got to jump into this So y'all today we're doing the foolishness. No I did not change that at all But you know, what I'm gonna change that now while it's up there. Yeah, we did we did a
A makeup for what up son on Thursday had some fun with that and Today what we're gonna do is I'm gonna go down there and change that scroll hold on. Let me copy And come right over here. That was so awesome having Oz in the studio It was and and you got some great questions like that one clip of him talking about red dead That that's gonna be on the internet forever. Oh, yeah, that was really awesome. Oh, no, that is that is that was great Uh, I mean, I didn't know about that. Yeah, yeah, let me see here So we today we have our best of 2025 I know it's 2026, but We're doing this because of the Academy Awards You know the Oscars out tonight have it on watch party with you guys in a little bit We'll probably won't be starting right at six But we'll be getting in there and we're gonna be here until it's done. That's what we do every year And we're gonna be talking about We did our worst of list now. We're talking about our best of and I want to wait until the Oscars because I Actually want to try to see as many of those Oscar films as I can our could and
Even though I've seen most of them already. I still didn't get to one And I can tell you which one that is I didn't get to see train dreams. I haven't seen that one either Yeah, and it's on Netflix, but these are long movies You know, so but everything else everything else I saw how many of those movies made my list of Best of 2025. Yeah, we'll see not the worst best of them. We'll see. We didn't see what your crazy list is It's not even that crazy. You know it. Oh, man Every one of these movies on this list. This movie's nobody's seen Yes, yes You're gonna be saying what the hell is that every how do you how did you manage to find 10 movies that no one ever seen before? I don't get it. It's nothing. No, it's not that it's not that at all actually when I have some overlap. Oh, I'm sure Yeah, you don't even know my list yet. No, so I'm very curious Yeah, now we're gonna see what that is. I'm very curious to tell y'all and another thing A couple of things to tell you. Yeah, I was giving away a grill today So I had to stop and we're from the movie. I was watching and I put it up on because I went back
I just a real cheap grill much to the disappointment of Martin Thomas who told me to go out He said man get a pellet grills or you get that smoke and you know put the pellets in there and it comes with a timer and a app and I was like okay All this sounds great. I wouldn't look for a used pellet grill at all of 400 500 600 dollars. I like oh fuck them pellets man Yeah, I'm gonna talk to George Foreman. Yeah, yeah, so I went on Facebook marketplace and bought like a $90 use grill Perfect for what I want to do. I'm not trying to be fan said I just want to when I was grilling I would just smoke a lot of meat and just have it ready for the week. That's all I'm a simple man I'm not some grill master like Martin is but I had an old grill that did not work and some people What coming by to look at it today? I had a I had one one one family come by and they passed on it But they were very nice and I cuz I would tell people I said man. It's just don't work is grill is old is rusted is busted Uh, you might be able to like throw a match in there run You know if you want to light it up, but I'm just trying to get rid of it
So a couple of people came by one person came by and said oh, yeah, I'm just gonna get this thing anyway It's yeah, cuz it's like old gas grill one guy said man I'm just gonna tear this thing apart but charcoal it Yeah, why don't just not just go get a charcoal grill for that. I mean that works That's what I was gonna recommend you do if you want to clear it yeah Okay, well this guy came and took it him and his daughter and they were very nice The family that came before though they were they man very nice people They came by and he looked at the grill, but they stayed and talked for a little bit and They told me because it was three people It was a guy who was probably in his 60s. He uh, and uh, it was he was in the whole time. He was holding his stomach He just kept holding his stomach and he never know. He'd be talked to me Yeah, my dumb old thing Well, I was like, man, do you have to take a shit In the lean inside of the body. He's just saying himself. Oh, no, it's shit And he just went through his whole medical problems apparently The stomach cramps led to numbness in his arm
No feeling his leg. Oh god And it's something that has to do with a bone in the back of his neck and I and I said man, you're fucking You I said man, I thought you got better things weren't about this grill, but his his uh his nephew Uh, was his big old dude and he kept looking at me. He and he kept saying and keep my just met these people and he was like Yeah, cool. I know I can see already man. You good people You good you you you all right. You were good person man And I was like, okay, I'm second to pay man. Yeah, you guys are awesome too And I was like, I don't know why this guy keeps telling me I'm so nice like we just we're talking about five minutes But no, I gotta feel about you man. You good people core. Oh, thank you. And then he said, yeah, this my mama right here And then I'd start talking to his mother and his mother was like She's like, oh She started talking about the yard. She's like, oh my god. This this this deck looks so wonderful Oh, this is just what I need. This is amazing. That's like it's just wood
Like, okay, it's a nice deck. No, it is. No, it is. It is But I said I'll give the number of the guy who made it and all this kind of stuff And I said, yeah, man, get one sit outside, you know, and I said anything. I said, uh, um, I said you and your son and uh, I don't know I don't know if you have a husband, but you know, it's nice good nights for y'all to stay out there and she's like, nah, my My my mandum passed on and she had she was also combing her hair the whole time I'm not lying My my my mandum he passed on I'm like, oh, your husband's didn't he's no longer with us and she's like, no And I'm not looking for nobody right now I know I don't want nobody no more and I'm good. I was like, oh, he was just So he was one of a kind. I mean, you still love him. You don't need nobody else. And she's like, that's right I'm not looking for nothing else. He was good enough for me That's not okay. Well, that is very understandable. That's one of the most romantic things I've heard They all gotten the car and I said, listen, sorry. I had y'all driving for the grill. You didn't want but man Look, you know y'all is yeah, it's your son say y'all good people
And uh, I said y'all come back anytime you want man, you know, if you if you ever want to come by when I'm real Not here, sit on the deck and they love And then I get a message about 30 minutes later And I and I think it was the son because it was under the uncle's name I think it was the son and he's like Yeah, I don't want to make it awkward, but uh, I think my mom want to talk to you You mean the mom who just said that she don't want nobody because nobody can replace Yeah Oh Cuz I was saying like say that's it. Listen, I was joking. I'm like, well look you you'll be getting back out there I'll just take you to look a beautiful woman now. I am just saying, you know, don't don't don't deny yourself too long
And I guess he took that as I you know, I got a heart on while talking So she so yeah, man, it was it was a very very sweet people man very nice very nice to them as for Martin Not being here today. Look funny story about Martin so Martin told me a few days ago. He's like, yeah, man. I I can't make it man And I don't mean you know south by You know, I'm also working south by with my company and they and they just got me working so hard man I haven't been able to do anything. I've just been working so hard so I can't come back. I'm working so hard And I was like, all right, man. Listen, that's cool. We'll hold it down. It's fine and and so I asked him I said, well, hey look man. Uh, I thought there was a review that we could do turns out we couldn't my cement Can you can you come by at least do this review For you know, it was just for a short period of time. We can get back to it And he's told me it's like I can come by between three and five And I was like, well, that's pretty specific. But okay I thought they were keeping you so busy at then and then I thought about and I was like
Wait a minute. I can't go But I was invited to a screening at seven o'clock That he was also invited to and I said Just three to five, huh? And he's like, yeah And I said, oh, that's funny because they got that movie at seven You wouldn't happen to go into that movie, would you? Maybe I'm like, man I want people to be more silent on the phone. Yeah, yeah, you know, it wasn't he wasn't a phone But that you could feel the silence between that text you can feel like holding that phone like Shit And so I was like man, I said listen just don't go enjoy the movie I said just I will be alright You know, go have fun and and I got another pause long ass pause on the phone and then he came back with
That Simpson's hand that even the black one That yellow hand So so yeah, anyway, this is funny because I'm like man. I don't care because two things of Martin Martin loves South by Southwest He loves going around looking for free shit and going to movies and and and and attend the screenings and parties and what not I get it, you know, everybody has looks for no, no, it is I hate South by Southwest But I get what he loves about it. It's for him. That's his that's his time of year Uh He he loves South by Southwest He hates the Oscars. He hates being here for these Oscars shows. I know it. I know it. I know he does not like doing this So because that was it was that one year I can tell you how I know because that one year It was one year we were watching and in the middle of he's got me said man He's like man ain't not going on with this. I mean, listen, it's not right if I leave because I ain't nothing happening with this anyway And ain't nothing gonna happen. I was like sure go ahead man And the moment he left the room will Smith got up and oh
I hate he that's the beard that he notorious me said man. Hey, I'm going on these Oscars and then Chris rock got slapped by Will Smith And then he changed fate of the universe Like I said the moment you leave now you know who's something's gonna happen because you said that You know look things that's something. I don't know the reason why you have The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is because of Martin It's very true Martin wrote a six page manifesto Uh, a grand essays to get giving you detailed reasons of why you will not have an Avengers movie You may be able to find it on the way back machine on the old spill.com. Oh, it is it's out there It's out there go find it. It's amazing. He goes bullet point by long as bullet point why you friends will never ever ever have An Avengers movie and I'd be goddamn if six months later. They made the announcement For the Avengers movie and now we're on our fifth one. Yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they they yeah, it's almost like Marvel said all right. We'll see about that I can't find his like home up here. Yeah, yeah, hold my six page Yeah, man So yeah, anyway, y'all So yeah, I was I wasn't I wasn't even mad at him for not being able to go or not wanting to go I know he was going to see that movie. I was just laughing because I'm like, man, just tell me where to go Yeah, I'm not gonna wait. Martin's here for so many things Martin dedicates his time to this so much. He was here for the 12-hour stream Yeah, whenever I need him to like switch days and do something he always does I'm not who am I going to get mad at him for not coming in. I was like man I am not going to deny you the thing that you love which is South by Southwest you loving so much Yeah, he was he's here regularly all week basically. Yeah, yeah And if I have to change up something that the last minute, you know if I'm running behind he's sitting here and he doesn't complain about at all, you know, so No, I was not I wasn't irritated anything that he was not here man only thing I was irritated about like man just tell him if you want to
If you want to go to South by man, he got himself ready though last Sunday our memories like also might have a birthday in Houston I don't know. I got a lot of excuses. There were a lot of things going on after why he could not do Did he actually say? Yeah, he said he might have to go to his aunt's birthday or something in Houston Yeah, man, so in other words It was like come on man, you know, we we we know He's trying to be nice about it though. Yeah, don't just stop boy, man. We know you bullshit. Just go to South by man So yeah, I wouldn't I would not deny him that at all man, man. No, you're gonna go All right, you guys are like a married couple. Well, we are We are very much for three. Yeah, yeah, we are very much a married couple. All right, y'all we are going to jump into this I just got to tell y'all there are 9 tickets left My show a night of sit down comedy at the Broadway comedy club. That's Friday April 17th 9 p.m. Show
You can get tickets by going to double toasted NY dot com or go to double toasted dot com and believe me You're gonna want to do that because as I said nine tickets are left and That's gonna sell out definitely so We'll uh, hopefully see you soon. All right. We got a jump into this. We got 50 minutes left We're gonna be running behind for the Oscars, but that's fine So let's go ahead and do this and we'll try to get through this expeditiously All right, folks. I did not have a chance to do my Top 25 on the top 25 movies No, I didn't have a chance to do my top 10 movies of 2025 I wanted to wait and see what the Oscars were gonna say catch up on some of these movies and I'll come up on everything Sub one film, but I ain't glad I waited because one of those movies that I did watch at the last minute Actually did make it to my list. Oh cool. Yes, it did and you're gonna do your top 10 also. Yeah, so we don't have a lot of time
Let's go ahead and jump into it And we're gonna start out with the movie That I did watch at the last minute that did make my number 10 You know You talk about what does it be the shit you talk about right? All right, all right No, this is a Brazilian movie called the secret agent and Listen this movie it is not the movie that the title suggests you're thinking of some Brazilian James Bond That's gonna be running around and doing secret agent stuff and that is not what this is Actually, this is about a college teacher Who tries to hide from a dangerous person that he pissed off years ago and it's a it's a very very very slow movie man
But I'm a sucker for certain period pieces if they're filmed beautifully and this is 1977 This takes place kind of jump back and forth slightly between the present time and it wraps up beautifully that way between the present time and the past But I really love the way this movie is directed. I really love the The cinematography here. It's just a beautiful-looking film and I like I say I just love the direction They really do capture a 1970 style of filmmaking and that includes me in very Very sparse on music. I think the only music you hear in here is when somebody's playing a radio. So diagetic. Oh, yeah Oh, there's a you know, there's maybe a song that's played that reflects the 70s But some great performances here too, man some this has some of the most passionate acting that I've seen in In 2025 and Wagner Moira is becoming one of my favorites, man. I really like that guy a lot He's been around for a while and he's starting to show up a lot more and a lot more shows a lot more movie some of y'all might
Maybe remember from narco Narcos was also in the recently he was he was in Civil War you play one of the one of the photographers that was Accompanying everybody and also he was the voice of Death and pushing boots. Oh nice. Yeah creating that yeah, so I would not recommend this movie to a lot of people it barely made my top 10 because it moved so slow And it's two it's two hours and 40 minutes there. Yeah, and it moves very slow, but As I said, man, there's beneath that there's a really beautiful character piece It's you know, this guy's hiding out with a bunch of other people the way they bond His life the way he connects to somebody in the future Take a little while to get all caught up and come together But again under some under the direction that actually amps up near the end and ends up being really tense Near the end. It's like it's a movie that I just keep thinking about. It's a movie that appeals to me because I really love
stylistic direction when it comes to period pieces and that is why I really did Love this movie and I'm glad that I saw it because it almost was not gonna be washed by me because I was out of the last minute And you don't see it. There's a lot of shit that you miss. Yeah. Yeah, there is, but I caught that one and really did enjoy it now Let me tell you something about my list here. My list is a combination of things that Yes, they are Oscar worthy You know, they're hiding films, but my list is also about things that I just personally enjoyed What gave me some of the best moments at the theater? And this one right here is one of my favorite experiences watching a movie at a movie theater. I think I know is this Found destinations boardlines Man julien jesus quit. Yes Next you when we saw it and we had such a good time. Yes, I had so much fun with this movie. Just got to love the one you got
I always knew this day would come. Yeah, got it. I don't think you got it I held him off for years Tiley get up here We'll stop believe finishes the job Death is coming for our family. Oh, man. This was really one of my favorite moments Watching the movie at the theater and I get tired of watching movies at the theater man I really do because I see so many of them and it wears on you sometime But when you see something that really gives you I'll just a Lot just loads of entertainment non-stop with What really makes this a fun experience at the theaters that everybody's in on it everybody is on the same wave Man, everybody's on everybody's the same vibe. We're all laughing at the same things when anticipating the movie and the deaths at the same time in this film
Everybody's oh and on and in laughing at the same time hard to have a really good time or had a really good time in 2025 Sometimes it's being taken seriously resulting in some of the most original films that you've seen in 2025 Awesome movies are just like this where they're just a lot of fun and everybody is in on it And this is also probably the most self-aware with humor of the series. It's the most comedic and That did yeah, I was and I was laughing at this movie almost non-stop This was the hardest I've ever heard you laugh in a theater. Yeah by far. I was laughing non-stop in this man We're also filling the tragedy of it. So Death is probably the biggest asshole in this movie out of the whole series because this is about a family That's what's called bloodlines and man they're nice The likable people they care about each other they did not deserve what was happening to them in this movie and also One of the other things is tragic about this is
The bittersweet appearance by candy man. Yeah, Tony Todd. Yeah, there he is right there Who was dying as they made this and he pretty much knew it and this movie was his goodbye to us. So There was that moment there too, whether you had this really glorious moment to get this man affair well, but also They Did what made this formula work by amping it up and this is had this has one of the best openings of in these Destiny hard what it's called final destination movies. Yeah, this has one of the best openings It is bloody gory is tense and it's hilarious That scene in the beginning where everybody's dying and if you know these movies you know why and That had one of the biggest laughs. Oh, yeah, and and the whole audience applauded at the beginning of the movie Yeah, this really knew how to play with the audiences expectations in the best way possible And you could just you feel like the filmmakers are elbow and you're like hey look at this shit
Yeah, oh man, they're very self-aware of the comedy in this Yeah, I I love this man. I read that that was one of the most enjoyable moments I've had not even for a movie experience, but just overall the 2025 I remember just having so much fun at that moment Yeah, that was my number 15 from last year nice All right, let's get to my number eight movie We write together for a quarter a century in the first show he writes with someone else It's gonna be the biggest hit he ever had am I bitter? Yes For over 20 years heart and his partner Richard Rogers creative string of hits. I want 10 copies of that right me Exactly and says my funny Valentine the lady is a trip and the blue moon your work is brilliant. That's not the problem No, no, I'm not drinking with you Larry They should put my picture on that bottle the whiskey that made Lorenz heart Unemployable, you know There are movies which are good and
Richie Lingletter is one of my favorite directors because I think he just You never know what he's gonna do with his next project He has such a versatile style with but and taste and his filmography is all over the place and almost everyone is movies are great but this film This is actually elevated by the performances are in particular one performance and that is Ethan Hawke in this man Ethan Hawke he plays the lyricist Lorenz heart Who's reflecting on his life as he interacts with different people in his life including his writing partners former writing partner Richard Rogers on the night that he premieres Oklahoma but man that Everybody is wonderful in this film You have the bartender that he talks to you have the girl that he's into in the guys gay And he says and but he's just looking for love in all these places and acceptance and it's a great It's a great character piece. It's a play really because it all takes place at a bar Bobby kind of Ollie's grades a bartender. What's the what's the the girl's name?
Yeah, Margaret quality man. She's great as the girl that he's interested in and You know the way it plays out as a play transfer to film is done very well But Ethan Hawke is the one at dominates here his performance carries his film and sometimes it's a performance that The movie might be just fine But a single person can carry a film so well that it makes that movie One of the best movies in least I've seen in the year and that's all based on Ethan Hawke's performance in here I didn't see this but he is almost unrecognizable. He looks amazing Yeah, he they they they they make him look shorter than a lot of people in the movie Of course his hair is one thing and man just like I said he just disappears to that role It's yeah, it's it's it's a great film because of him And if you don't mind watching one actor carry pretty much what is the stage play on film? This is worth watching right here. Oh My number seven best movie of 2025. This is a true story that happened in my town
So this one Wednesday is like a normal day for the whole school But today was different Oh Every other class had all their kids But Mrs. Gandy's room was totally empty And do you know why Because the night before at 217 in the morning Every kid woke up got out of bed walk downstairs And into the dark Creepy premise right there for the movie weapons I Really enjoyed this film because we're talking about how hard was some of the most original stuff we got in 2025 And this is one of the most original films not just a hard movie, but as he filmed in 2025 I like how mostly it's a hard movie that mostly plays out through drama It's all these different characters studies are character pieces split up into different chapters and
The heart takes a backseat for a long time. Yeah, the movie is willing to take chances and just like Experiment in ways and like really do things that you don't expect from horror movies. Yeah. Yeah It's a really it's almost and most of it plays out like a dramatic Thriller are dramatic procedural where you're trying to figure out the mystery of what happened to these kids And the hard creeps in slowly as the we get more of a reveal But yeah, I thought that this was one of the It's not only was one of the most originals. I saw movies that I saw in 2025 But I think it's one of those movies that left the biggest impression of audiences after you left the theater for a few months Everyone was talking about that crazy ending and it had some people splitting but hey You remember that when you walked out and it stayed on your mind for a long time That movie followed you like you damn kids takes you down the street
Ah, if you haven't seen the movie man, it's almost worth watching just for that ending But it's a great lead up to that ending everything how it comes together is a I think is pretty much a well woven story It's a great screenplay before it even hits the The you know the being a movie or being in front of the camera and yeah, I just I just thought that this is something that it worked on so many levels since Scary at some points kind of moving you love the drama in it with these people these people and somehow at the end It ended up being a comedy. Yeah, how do you know how do you do that? It's quite the feet to pull off and also grounded characters that you can relate to in so many ways Yes, how do you have these characters that talk about all these things in their life? Some of them even plays out like a soap opera one dude got cussed out by his wife This stuff plays out as a grounded character piece and then we end up
See there's that grounded normal family Yeah, I like what the here comes a movie Yeah Yeah, I love this movie man. I really do and I like it the more I think about it is in one of the Actors of that one of the actresses up on Oscar. Yep Academy a word nominated film. Yep. That was her being chased by all the fans that Yeah, there you go. Oh folks let's go to My number six best movie of 2025 Let's send those disgusting demons back to the deaths where they belong. Yeah Yeah Let's get battle ready Oh
I tell you I like this because first of all I'm an animation fan Yeah, I was waiting. I was like all right when you get these damn cartoons He's a finance cartoon movies up in here. Yeah, I mean, I loved of course his style But man, I just thought that this was a great combination of story music and fandom This could have been completely annoying But I just thought that the way they combine this current fandom of kpop It mixing in with this this story about ancient demons and how they use pop music to actually been you know Take over their victims. I thought that that was pretty clever man. I thought that This was something there where I understood how it left such a cultural impact I you know, I'm not even a big I'm not big kpop fan anything like that But I watched this and I had I really did have such admiration for way they actually did the story And it took me places. I didn't think that they would actually take the movie You know, there's there's there's there's certain things there that kind of hardcore some real dark story telling in here
That I did not think they were gonna do I thought it's gonna be just a fluffy little you know movie just to give to the fans out there and I thought the You know, I thought they did it. I thought it was a very clever way of mixing a pop trend With a really good story man, you know, again, you know, it's this ancient story about demons I you know very clever if you ask me and I understand why some people gonna be like what the hell Why does on your list man because it's probably over sometimes oversaturated people keep hearing about it I get it, but I gotta be honest when I saw it I didn't know anything about this thing blowing off like it did a blown up like it did And when I watched it I was I just said wow, I'm in a very entertained by this and I'm very impressed by this I had no idea that it would take off like it did afterwards I thought it was just a just a Netflix movie. This has had a crazy cultural impact that now at this point like in the world People just associate this movie with K-pop. Do you hear in Australia? There was this big K-pop concert Yeah, and people like what the fuck they didn't even play golden it wasn't a demon hunter concept. Yeah
Yeah, they would kind of be a slick or they said K-pop Concert featuring demon dances They would be a little slick, but Technically, they didn't say K-pop demon hunter. Yeah, so but yeah, I get it people are sick of this I just thought it was a simple little Netflix movie and when I saw it I say why is this not in theaters? Why is it not bigger and then kaboom you know they blew up so yeah, I liked it I think it's like perfectly fine. I don't love it like everybody else But I did think that too. I was like this is really high quality to just throw on Netflix. Oh, yeah. Yeah. No, I I really had a good time with this So number four movie of 2025 smile voice. You're on camera. Sorry. That's five five Yeah, you got to not think about the things out of your control think about your plan I can't stop. Thank you about all that winning You'll never find another way
You And that's your way that is the long walk based on Stephen King's novella the same name and This was the most intense experience. I least very up there with some of the most intense experiences. I had a theater But the thing about this movie that really took me though by surprise and I read the book But I'm really I did not expect it to translate so well To be in this movie where It's about bonding more than anything So we see all these movies about These what what would you call them these challenges where all these you know, especially with like the hunger games and Battle Royale movies where they all these kids are pitted they are pitted against each other to the death There's only one left standing you would think that this would be ruthless with all these kids just Betraying each other and that's not what it's about man All these kids bonded one another on this walk to the death They all have everybody has to walk until there's only one left and if you get a warning
So many times you get shot in the head and they keep doing that until the winners left And so as gruesome as this movie is as gory as it can be sometimes and just as As depressing as it is I just really love the characters and how the characters just look they watched out for each other and You get some great performances With these characters man because of so that you know, they are the so The they're so kind to each other surprise under these circumstances I forgot the No, let's just say the black kids Yeah, yeah, he's that is one to look out for and also Oh, man You he's a for Hoffman. Yeah, he's the son of Phillips you don't see one Hoffman. Yeah, that guy was great But man every one of these young people in this movie gives an incredible performance Every one of them is somebody I say you should look out for and they just you know, this is a movie that I'm just I understand why I did not do
very well At especially during these times of turmoil and violence I understand why people would not want to go see this just because of the nature of the film I can understand why This would be something that people never want to see again But if you can get through all of the dark stuff in here There is a very hard warming story here Based on how these characters treat each other And I really yeah, I was just and really impressed that this was able to be done as a movie and works so well All right, so yeah, the actors definitely carry this film. Yeah, I thought that all the performances were fantastic. Yeah, all of them All right, this is number four for real my number four movie at 2025 Oh Good morning There are no hands on the clock why Because they're not needed What time is it You know, I don't I don't I don't remember that part but let's just not nitpick over the passwords
This is Bob Ferguson. I was a part of the French 75 That is one battle after another and I know this is higher on some people's lists some people think that this is going to be a movie that's going to win The ultimate best picture Academy Award and I think this is a great film much need to commentary love the alternate realities Store that they have you to make that commentary great direction all around love the chaos in this film Yeah, you know a lot some of this plays out actually like a battle in the streets and the music elevates it to this Crazy level the consistency throughout it is really beautiful. Yeah Yeah, but what stands out the most of the performances? Leonardo Caprio Tiana Taylor Sean pin though This is the one and everybody talks about Sean pin did an incredible job in a supporting role here He gave us probably the most quotable line of the year
And this move yeah We're like white man. I'm doing this movie. I love him Yeah, it's hot pin plays I don't know what I forgot what he's a Colonel Even locked y'all yeah, like buddy Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and that job stays locked for them for them because they keep eating them black chicks Yeah, man. He does great in this movie talk about a villain that is both scary and funny at the same time Yes, yes, I would almost say that if he was not in this movie of you didn't have that character in this film I don't think people be talking about this movie as much. That's a good point Yeah, I think that all the actors are amazing all their characters stand out but none as much as him Yeah, I think you talk about now. I just said earlier An actor that elevates a movie. I don't think you had this character and have somebody who could do such a great performance as he As he does I think you still have a good movie, but I don't think you'd be talking about as much as we are right now You can also say that he has the best walk in
Flash-year. Oh, he looks like he's got to stick up his ass that stays deep up that ass as he's walking through this movie man Oh, let me see here. Let's go and I don't know if I mentioned the Ethan Hawke the title of the movie. I hope I did is blue moon I think I did, but yeah, that's the name of that movie with these huh. Okay, so I did yeah just in case anybody is wondering all right Down to the top three my number three movie of 2025 is How do you live? Well, I live with the conference if I believe myself the money will follow And what do you plan to do if this whole dream of yours doesn't work out? There's an even an end during my consciousness Maybe it should Oh Before he became an asshole to everybody in real life Timothy Shilamay played Marty in this movie who is one of the many chaotic characters that came from the safty brothers Are in this case a safty brother Josh safty because I love how the safty brothers previous films how since they made me feel
And how I'm just fascinated by these unsavory and just really just awful characters And I say off I'm gonna talk about awfully written just they're bad people. Yeah, they're mean That not only means the selfish and they're just stupid. I just know they They're driven by their own selfish goals that they did make the dumbest decision Decisions and I've ever seen I care to make a movie because there's one after another until it escalates Yeah, and what I love about their style of making films is you get to see the ripple effect every time every person who's life They just fuck up. They leave, but yeah, they just leave a trail of chaos and and and life ruined for people that they pass Orange ping pong balls all over the street. Oh, yeah, man Did you never you never want to run into a safty brother character? They were ruined your life And that is what's going to hear with Marty every you know a few people like myself thought that this was gonna be like some Heartwarming sports movie. No, it's this is just another character if you've seen any safty brothers movies It's just a character that's driven by some goal some some just
Some unobtainable goal and they then they're doing it against time And as they're rushing to achieve this goal. They had just Again, just crossing people's paths and just ruining their lives on the way stepping on people using people Taking advantage of of people's navitae are just charming people and Marty is no different man Everyone I got to give a quick word out to our spots right now, which is Shopify and I will make this quick But I just wanted to say a little something right now every time I sit in the studio I look around and I'm amazed and how many Gifts we receive from talented toasties out there that have made these things themselves and I haven't even seen Half of those talented people in our community that make these wonderful things You know, you make things such toys clothing jewelry things that you can sell online be your own business person Be your own online entrepreneur and that is where Shopify comes in Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses around the world They're your commerce expert helping with everything from managing inventory to international shipping to process and returns
They got your back 24 seven with customer support and you know what I don't think I have to worry about those returns too much because Shopify's got your back. You're gonna be alright You know what they even have you to wear they know you need to save a little money to make some money And that is where this code comes in if you put in Shopify.com slash toasted all lowercase You will get a one dollar per month drop period I want to think Shopify for sponsor in this portion of the show and I want to thank all of you out there for your support and now back to the video and Timothy Shilamay regards what people think about him right now. He is amazing in this film He's a and I know a lot of people don't want to watch these movies because they hate these characters But that's the the talent of the safty brothers. It's in Josh safty here is that They great they they they bring such great performances out of these awful people that you you you can't you can't stop watching And what makes their movies feel extra special is all the casting feel so specific like besides the guy from shark tank in there
Yeah, you got like very specific people like the guy from that YouTube video with the voice if you remember that or like Penn and Teller shows up in this movie And what at least or one of them does. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got how they created yeah, but also the yeah You just have all these people who are not actors. Mm-hmm cool Some of the best actors here because they feel like real people. Mm-hmm. So Yeah, I love the a safty brothers movie on this case a safty brother movie. So I really enjoyed this And it's my number three movie of the year not everybody because you do have to hang with an unlikable person for two hours But if you don't mind that then I think you're in for a really fun ride Or at least a chaotic tumultuous ride with this person, and it's very tense too. I like that Uh my number two movie something that is very underrated Some people might call me on just for trying to be different for putting this movie on my list But I want to get this movie some love because I personally love this movie a lot and I'm just sad that nobody saw it
Did they know I I was wake up What are you doing shudder down already what is she talking about and I've showed you too much already man I didn't know the things I didn't know what trailer. I'm getting the marketing for this movie companion my number two movie was awful I was fortunate enough to see this when I knew nothing about it and it has a twist in there Which you just saw but if you can block an eye to your mind it really does make a difference and Just being not only just kind of Taken surprised by this twist right here, but even before I got there. I really enjoyed this dark comedy of a film and I I think that it was a movie that I'm not giving it credit for people not seeing it. I just meant like much like A final destination. I just sat there and just had and I didn't have the full experience nobody was in a theater
But man just for that moment I was sitting in in a theater watching this movie. I was enjoying the full ride And this does the full job that a movie is supposed to do it has good characters It it's well shot. It's funny. It's entertaining gripping the whole time and at the end It actually has a message a feminist one no less that it doesn't beat you over the head Yes, yes, anybody that thinks because we often comment about how the feminist message in movies are too heavy We just did that with a movie recently not against at all It's just again how it's presented and just you're right julien the the feminist message in here very well done It's clever and it's they just throw it in there and it's really a nice cherry on type to leave you away for a sci-fi movie Yeah companion so please if you haven't seen it check it out I've already kind of ruined it for you they ruined it for you because I mean the marketing is awful Oh, yeah, tell people is it's the best episode of black mirror you haven't seen yet It really is man. It really is one long amazing episode of black mirror and I just again
I have to be honest. I can either go for the movies that I think I should say should be on this list I have to go with movies that really made me feel a certain way and this was a personal movie for me This is a movie that really personally was Up there in the moment I saw it. I did for the rest of the year. I kept thinking about companion Yeah, it made my top 10. I really liked it nice Somebody said never heard this from before then great. That's even better. Let me shut up and go watch it Oh, some of you might know my number one movie of the year Anybody want to take any guesses out there. I'm gonna go look at the chat chat. What do you think number one movie of the year? What do you think is gonna be? Avatar three. Yeah, thank you so much You twins Yeah, man. Yeah, I mean this comes as no surprise to a lot of people I really was blown away by sinners and it is my number one movie of 2025
There are legends of people with a gift of making music so true You can conjure spirits from the past and the future This gift can bring fame and fortune Yeah Folks a lot of people say I chose this because you're good because they black are I chose because I like horror or whatever man I chose this because it truly was one of the most ambitiously directed films and beautiful looking films of 2025 I mean you talk about some craftsmanship to make in a film Ryan Kugler is a true visionary man This guy has just got a knack for it and the way that he combined horror With some beautiful film making with the drama and the music There is this people this is a dramatic horror movie that in the middle of it
There's a musical number to give you the history of Of black music leading up to hip-hop and in more contemporary sounds man. It's this This was something that I always I said this was several movies out there man This probably shouldn't have worked as well as it did and this is I'm so glad to see horror Be some of the best film making in 2025 and this is the top one for me right here gorgeous film is 72 millimetre man see this an i-max and The performances in here. Yeah, Michael is the be Jordan is great Delroy Lindo really deserved his praise for this film man but As I said man, this is as far as just a it's really one of the the most beautiful films is the way it looks That I've seen in 2025 I just I did and I just loved everything about it I was trying to find one thing that I can complain about And it will I did find a couple things, but they were kind of nitpicks I don't think it's that big of a nitpick We kind of agreed on it that at the end it kind of it loses a little bit of steam when like you know the vampire action starts
Yeah, that's like not saying that that's bad, but it's the weakest part of the film I think that's fair to say yeah, yeah, because it hits such incredible highs. Yeah But it's such a well-made film. I'm like I was told I started on my my list telling you about How I admire a movie they made the list because I just love the direction that much and If I'm just going by direction alone as what is the best of the year then this Definitely Hands down nothing nothing gets close to the director another movie and it's cool We hear Ryan Kuhler talk about this movie because it's like wow listen to this guy talk about all the fucking homework He did he's like yeah talk to Tarantino about how he does his blood talk to these directors about how they do this Christopher Nolan yeah, so be on the iMac's camera. Yeah, yeah, yeah This is why that guy he went talk to the best out there and it definitely shows Yeah, Ryan Kuhler is almost a genius to me man. I think he's he has a perfect record If you really look at his hits if you look at his critical success
And this is another winner right here and I really just yeah, I just I love this movie man I think he's gonna be like a very big influence in For up becoming like black actors or like black directors. Oh, he already is he already is Like I think he will be remembered for such a long time. Oh, he's actually for this movie his movies already Just by his filmography at this point. He could he could stop making films Today, yeah, and people say Ryan Kuhler left a lasting impact. You don't you know what if you want to retire right now you are net right because you made you made You made a filmography of better movies and some directors who made 50 movies throughout their whole life time Yeah, they would say that he revolutionized black cinema. Yeah, and it wouldn't be even close to an exaggeration Yeah, and that musical scene is definitely I think the biggest highlight to like take away from I was just blown away because I was I didn't know what to expect with the with the movie because I'm not a huge like core fan Unless it's like zombie stuff. Yeah, like
I watched it and I got to that scene. I was just like I started seeing in the moment though as I was watching I was like he's either this is going to be Amazing how this plays out or this is going all of a sudden just crash It's gonna fall apart because this is out of nowhere And I'm like I can't believe what I'm seeing right now and I thought at some point. I was like Yeah, this is what the movie is about to drop the ball And no no, I mean it flowed right back into the story and I was like this man right here is a genius So yeah, that is my number one movie That is my list of 2025. I could do some I could do some some some some what do you call it on all the mentioned mentions But I'm gonna jump to your list julie and because one of your movies on your list is an honorable mention for me But that's it everybody. Thank you for listening just in cases on YouTube like I close up a certain way Appreciate it and move it on New York. Yeah, we can just run through real quick We've talked about a bunch of them already, but uh number 10 is a companion. Okay. Yeah
Let me see here. We just got them talking about that. Yeah. Yeah companion right there. Yeah, what did you love about this? I mean like I said I love black mirror I think that's one of the best TV shows of all time and I think that what this movie achieves is Just like another phenomenal episode. I can't recommend it enough. It I love when sci-fi has a strong ending And I don't love this movie as much as something like upgrade, but it reminded me of that where it left me thinking about the movie when it ended You know what can we we do something we do later. Yeah, can we do this later? You know, I was surprised. Oh, okay No, no, no, I didn't mean to stock you but yeah, your words are going on already So let's get into it a lot of people are saying we gotta get into it folks. I got a change computer So we're gonna stop this right now and we'll see you pretty soon and the Oscar stream just gives a little time We'll see you in a few minutes
